    Data Analyst

    About The Role: Apollo are seeking a Data Analyst to join our growing team and help shape how farmers access farm inputs & products, credit, and customized advice at scale. As a part of the Business Intelligence team, you will be responsible for helping deliver timely, accurate, and relevant information across all functions within the company. Our primary responsibility is to provide the data necessary to support marketing, operations, finance, logistics, and communications team in their achievements and goals, and to help decision makers steer the company towards making intelligent decisions. Your role will interact with the entire leadership team, and you'll have the opportunity to build a complete understanding of the entirety of a fast-growing startup while developing your technical skills and business acumen.

    Responsibilities

    • Deliver accurate and relevant information to all areas of the business
    • Create, maintain, and audit dashboards for reliable use by teams across the whole business
    • Help define ambiguous requests to most effectively serve the goals of the business
    • Influence business operations as a subject matter expert on company operations & systems

    Qualifications

    Senior Data Scientist

    About The Role: Apollo is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to help us change how African farmers access credit, customized advice, and farm inputs at scale. You will work across all parts of our business to achieve these goals. This role is an opportunity for someone to take ownership of key data science products with support and coaching.

    Your Day-to-day

    • Provide statistical and analytical support to inform strategic business decisions and experimentation
    • Build and improve models to predict which customers are most likely to succeed with our products
    • Use satellite, survey, and other data to better understand how our customers’ crops are growing and ways in which we can better support them
    • Work with our agronomists to provide custom recommendations for each farmer
    • Collaborate with engineers to transform data driven insights into finished scalable products

    You

    • Have advanced experience in machine learning, statistics, and/or programming
    • Driven to find new insights in data and pose new questions that help shape our business
    • Comfortable explaining complex solutions to non-data science peers across multiple continents and cultures

    Product Manager

    About the Role

    Apollo Agriculture is seeking a Product Manager to help us change how African farmers access farm inputs, credit, and customized advice. We are looking for someone to help design and drive our product strategy as we scale. The ideal candidate rapidly assimilates new information, forms and expresses sound strategic judgements, motivates everyone around them, and is equally comfortable defending their opinion as admitting when they are wrong.

    • Help design and execute our product strategy and technology roadmap in close coordination with Apollo’s lead PM and key stakeholders across Apollo
    • Rally people across the organization to deliver high-quality products, on time, for our customers
    • Work closely with our operations teams and learn from our customers in the field to develop technology that dramatically increases our operational efficiency and positions the business for radical scale
    • Transform ideas into clear, functional product features and work with our engineers to ensure projects are managed efficiently and features are built to spec.

    Marketing Lead

    About the role:

    Apollo is seeking an experienced Marketing Lead to help us reach millions of rural customers and partner with them to maximize their profits. In this role, you will lead a team to develop creative strategies that capture the attention and excitement of small-scale farmers, build multiple channels for scalable, low-cost customer acquisition, and radically increase Apollo’s brand recognition across Kenya and beyond. This is a senior-level position with significant management and leadership responsibility.

    Your day-to-day:

    • Design and oversee Apollo’s seasonal and long-term marketing strategies. This includes design and oversight of rural marketing campaigns and events that drive new customer acquisition, as well as longer-term brand awareness strategies that make Apollo a known and trusted brand among farmers across Kenya and beyond. 
    • Work in close collaboration with Apollo’s Chief Customer Officer to align marketing strategies and targets with operational and sales goals. This includes understanding and working with the Sales and Operations departments to create feedback loops that will ensure seamless cohesion between these functions and the Marketing team.
    • Oversee development of Apollo’s visual content strategy and ensure that all marketing and sales materials align with Apollo’s short- and long-term marketing goals.
    • Dive headfirst into Apollo’s wealth of data to identify growth opportunities, design and execute new experiments, and scale winning strategies across Apollo’s territories. 
    • Design and improve processes to gather qualitative and quantitative research to best understand Apollo’s customers.
    • Deeply understand and inter phase with the customer base to inform design of a marketing approach that will resonate with Apollo’s target audience – rural smallholder farmers. Frequently interacting with farmers in the field will therefore be key to success in this role.
    • Help us continue to build a world-class team and provide mentorship and leadership to help direct reports grow in their roles.

    Financial Analyst

    About the role

    Apollo Agriculture is seeking a Financial Analyst to join us in our Nairobi office. Our ideal candidate has excellent quantitative skills, financial modelling experience, a high level of integrity, and is excited to join a growing, fast-paced company. We are looking for a professional with 3-5 years of work experience, ideally in the financial services sector.

    Your day-to-day:

    • Support the Director of Finance in monitoring and analyzing the financial performance of the business
    • Develop financial reporting, including asset-liability management and FX reporting
    • Support the Director of Finance in updating the financial model
    • Respond to internal and investor requests for financial information and ad-hoc analyses
    • Work across teams on a range of analyses to support the financial objectives of these teams

    You:

    • Have 3-5 years of professional experience, ideally in a quantitatively-oriented role in the financial sector or for a tech company
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree, and ideally have progressed towards the CFA designation

    Head of Strategy and Business Development

    About the Role: Apollo is seeking an experienced Head of Strategy and BD to help us build pathways from subsistence to commercial farming. This role will drive Apollo’s growth in several areas, including new product strategy, geographic expansion, and partnership development.  This role is inherently cross-functional, touching on product and expansion strategy, agronomy, business development, and technology.

    The Head of Strategy and BD will work closely with Apollo’s CEO and Chief Customer Officer, as well as our product, engineering, agronomy, and operations teams, to evaluate opportunities and develop Apollo’s strategy in the following critical areas:

    1. Vertical scale: What crops, tools, services, and investments best enable Apollo’s customers to transition from subsistence maize farming to more profitable, more sustainable, and more commercial farming? How should Apollo evaluate, prioritize and actualize growth into these new crops, new products, and new services like market access for their crops, and on what timescale?
    2. Horizontal scale: How should Apollo expand, both within Kenya and internationally? What products are best suited to new regions, and how should product offerings be adapted to achieve product-market fit in new territories?
    3. Technology landscape: How should Apollo’s product and customer acquisition strategies evolve as our customers transition from feature phones to smartphones? How can Apollo best take advantage of opportunities brought about by smartphone adoption and other new technologies?
    4. Partnerships and Business Development: What partnerships can Apollo develop or deepen to increase both horizontal and vertical scale? How can Apollo expand existing partnerships, including with Ag-input suppliers, local governments, insurance companies, and agrodealers to maximize our value proposition and achieve our growth goals?
    5. Success in this role will require deep strategic and analytical capabilities, excellent commercial judgment to prioritize new opportunities, and exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. You’ll help guide Apollo’s growth priorities in the coming years and build the future of agriculture in Africa.

    Location: Either Nairobi, Kenya or Amsterdam, Netherlands is preferred. The role can be remote for the first ~6 months.

    Reporting: This role reports to the CEO.

    You Have:

    • Significant experience in product strategy and development in a growing technology company, likely in a strategy, growth, or product role working closely with a product team, and/or a background in management consulting.
    • Significant experience building close working relationships and partnerships both within a company and externally.
    • Strong financial modeling skills to evaluate potential growth opportunities.
    • A demonstrated history of driving growth in a fast-paced environment.
    • The experience to know when something is “close enough” to done to be valuable.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • An MBA (useful, but not required) or similar skill set.
