    Readvertisement: Senior Finance & Strategy Manager- KCB Insurance Agency

    Job Purpose:

    Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for managing KCB Insurance Agency monthly financial reporting processes, preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS, regulatory reporting in line with prudential guidelines and other regulatory requirements (The Insurance Act, IRA and CBK Regulatory guidelines, the Companies Act, NSE & CMA), and fixed assets management. They ensure that robust controls are maintained around the internal models to provide assurance on the accuracy and completeness of the Agency’s financial statements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the strategic planning process, set up reporting and performance monitoring systems across all KCB Insurance Agency Units
    • Lead the quarterly reporting process including Board Pack preparation, BSC metrics and analytical reviews on the performance
    • Preparation of Financial statements in accordance with the International Financial Reporting standards ensuring all relevant assumptions are applied.
    • Working capital management i.e. Efficient management of current assets (cash, receivables, inventory) and current liabilities (payables, accruals) and investment management
    • Manage the reporting cycles ensuring monthly (month-end) reporting including validation of balances reported in financial reports, provision business analysis data and output reports to support decision making. Regulatory and Statutory reporting ensuring all internal and external compliance requirements are adhered to e.g. to the IRA, CBK, CMA, NSE & Group Reporting
    • Provide business analysis for new products, new ventures and projects to support the decision making process and track progress.
    • Management of the annual audit process in liaison external auditors and internal auditors and remedy material weakness and resolve significant deficiencies within the agreed timelines.
    • Embed and implement robust controls and review processes through balance sheet reviews/substantiation in order to identify risk issues, track aged items and ensure closure and/or escalation of issues.
    • Ensure adequate controls are in place for revenue assurance, expenditure and fixed asset cycles. Provide profitability positions for all cost/revenue centres.
    • Scanning the regulatory environment for legislative and regulatory changes, and preparing impact analysis that provide insights for decision making;
    • Embedding financial and data controls, verifying the integrity of reports with the General Ledger and underlying transaction processing systems;
    • Leading, mentoring and developing an astute finance team in delivering the finance strategy aligning finance activities with the overall strategy and delivering a business support culture with a customer focus.
    • Lead in continuous improvement of the design, processes and financial systems in meeting the emerging needs in both reporting & control environments.

    Experience & Expertise:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Finance or Accounting Option), Economics or related field from an institution recognized by Commission for University Education.
    • Professional Qualifications in Accounting (CPAK/ACCA) is required.
    • Possession of a postgraduate degree, or relevant professional qualifications (CFA) will be an added advantage.
    • At least 8 years’ finance experience, 4 years of which should be in a senior management position within a finance function in the Insurance Industry.

    Applications Architect

    The Applications Architect is responsible for developing IT Solution blueprints (software, versioning & licensing, integrations, scalability, management requirements and standards) and related documentation for IT Systems in use by or to be procured by the Bank in line with Bank policy, architecture best practices, standards and methods. The holder of the role will demonstrate proficiency in Applications Solutions Architecture through the design of business solutions, service-oriented solutions and related infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Build a bridge between business requirements and technical specifications by understanding business requirements and use cases, and then finding ways to implement those use cases in the business applications / solutions. Identify the requirements that affect the structure and operational behaviors of the application.
    • Adopt approaches and methodologies that demonstrate reduction in the business risks associated with building of technical solutions.

    The Person:

    Quality Assurance Analyst

    IT Quality Assurance unit is mandated to develop and establish quality assurance, policies, standards and measures for the information technology services within the organization.

    The Quality Assurance Analyst will provide and implement strategic Quality Assurance initiatives that are geared towards maturing the quality assurance function of the Bank. The role holder is mandated with the development of Quality Assurance policies, develop metrics and measure compliance by providing measurable metrics & monitoring visibility into the Quality Assurance deliverables and undertakings.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Champion and coordinate business requirements reviews across functional teams and ensure that the business requirements are complete, precise and testable.
    • Works with project team to define and create overall project test strategy/test plan, test schedules or strategies and identifies test resources, estimates test effort in accordance with project scope or delivery dates and ensures that the test strategy is achieved.

    • Define test process including required test activities and deliverables, conduct Test Readiness Assessment, establish test beds and ensure that test beds are available for all planned white box and black box testing activities.
    • Engages, champions and collaborates with technical teams/personnel in non-functional; testing including integration, regression, load, performance, security and usability testing.
    • Prepare, share and review test results periodically, report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues and interoperability flaws and develop test acceptance reports for projects and software changes.
    • Works with business units to perform post deployment sanity and regression tests and post-implementation review within defined period to confirm that the deployed solution works as per the business requirements.
    • Participates in formulation and implementation of software process improvement policies and strategies for the division.

    The Person:

    IT Applications Support Manager

    Technology Service Delivery Department is responsible for managing the delivery, performance, supply chain of IT services and enterprise applications to provide the required level of service, system performance and functionality required to meet business objectives and customer (internal/external) expectations.

    The primary purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate the analysis, evaluation, development, testing and implementation of Banks software applications and to make recommendations on software applications.     Data Analyst

    Fintech Department is responsible for driving the Bank's Digital Strategy; Product and Business development of digital capabilities with new technologies to increase functionality, usage and transactions for NPI. Also responsible for driving the Bank's products and transactional services via digital technologies for both individuals and businesses (SME & Corporate).

    The Data Analyst will be tasked with role of engineering terra-bytes of data into actionable insights and new products for our customers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Transform large, complex datasets into pragmatic, actionable insights, leverage data to identify, quantify and influence tangible business gain by performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in reports, dashboards and charts.
    • Provide test interfaces for users to test the reports and dashboards before being put on the production environment and carry out technical user training as required to enable users interpret BI solutions. Implement analytical model designs, perform any restructuring required, and review Dataset implementations performed by the Data engineer and BI developers.
    • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using Machine Learning techniques and data mining using Bank selected data mining tools. Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems, process, cleanse and verify the integrity of data used for advanced analysis by creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance.
    • Improve data foundational procedures, guidelines and standards and develop best practices for data management, maintenance, reporting and security.
    • Implement statistical data quality procedures or test driven approach for quality assurance and conduct performance tuning to be able to optimize the application of statistical models and scripts
    • Design, build, and maintain various parts of the data warehousing with respect to requirements gathering, data modeling, metric establishment, reporting production, and data visualization.
    • Gather and process raw, unstructured data at scale into a form suitable for analysis then consolidate into the data warehouse in order to perform Business Intelligence and advanced analytics.
    • Evaluate datasets for accuracy and quality using statistical data quality procedures, software, or test-driven approaches that ensure quality assurance and solve any issues which may arise.
    • Assist to analyze business/use case requirements from BI analysts to determine operational problems, define data modeling requirements, gather and validate information, apply judgment and statistical tests and develop data structures to support the generation of business insights and strategy;
    • Assist in developing and implementing a program of continuous improvement of BI processes through a cycle of analysis of existing systems, processes, and tools, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing high-impact changes, and getting feedback from stakeholders. Develop and maintain documentation/manuals on models developed, reports generated and statistical solutions devised.

    The Person:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Sciences or related quantitative field. Masters is added advantage.
    • A minimum 5 years proven performance in Data Science & Analytics.
    • Experience with relational Databases such as Oracle, SQL queries, or OLAP cubes is preferred.
    • Experience in development of Credit Score Cards will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent understanding of Machine learning techniques and Algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM and Decision Forests.
    • Experience with common Data Science toolkits, such as R, Python, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.
    • Excellence in at least R and/or Python is highly desirable.

    Business Development Manager, Trade Finance

    The Position:

    Reporting to the Head, Trade Finance, the position will be responsible for the implementation of the Trade Finance strategy and for growing the assigned Trade Finance client portfolio, and maximizing business volumes and revenues while ensuring compliance with all internal procedures and operational controls as well maintaining high level of customer satisfaction.
