    Camera Operator

    Overall Purpose of the job

    To shoot informative and professional TV pictures that capture the mood and spirit of the event and assist reporters
    in developing appropriate accompanying stories.

    Responsibilities for the Camera Operator Job

    • Operate professional video cameras for news as well as documentary production
    • Transmit Live video images using Mobile News Gathering equipment such as Live U or Quicklink.
    • Advise producers and reporters on camera techniques and creative angles
    • To take detailed notes of the subjects covered
    • Describe circumstances under which clips were taken in order to guide the Editors in story selection and
      content
    • Submit fi lms to the Head of Camera Unit and concerned Editor within set deadlines
    • Able to work independently without reporter and/or producer on location
    • Able to edit sequences using Final Cut Pro or other editing systems and send via FTP or mail, using broadband
      network or via satellite broadcast
    • Able to travel widely, including overseas for news and documentary assignments as and when required
    • Take care of camera and other equipment assigned

    Qualifications for the Camera Operator Job

    • Diploma in Mass communication, Media Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution

    Sub-Editor

    Overall Purpose
    This role is responsible for covering, researching and writing stories for publication.

    Responsibilities for the Sub-Editor Job

    • Taking notes, carrying out interviews, checking out facts and submitting stories within set deadlines;
    • Researching and collecting background information required to make stories complete, topical,
      informative, credible and analytical
    • Writing and processing stories collected to ensure they are balanced, properly presented, free of error
      and in line with laid down editorial policy, house-style and journalist ethics;
    • Following news leads and maintaining close and effective contact with news sources;
    • Informing the Editor of work progress, problems encountered and areas where assistance and/or facilitation is needed to complete assignments within the agreed deadlines;
      Identifying areas of improvement/development in daily news reporting and making appropriate
      recommendations to the Editor;
    • Ensuring there are no cases of libel and defamation in stories filed so as to cushion the Group against
      risks of suits.

    Copywriter

    Purpose of the position

    To write, re-purpose and package compelling news stories from various sources for KTN/KTN News audiences
    on television.

    Responsibilities for the Copywriter Jobs

    • Research and write high-impact news stories for television.
    • Re-purpose stories from wire services such as Reuters and AFP for television audiences.
    • Conduct phone interviews with reporters on location and news sources and develop news content from

    Digital Content Manager

    The incumbent will be able to provide editorial direction for digital platforms, managing content, building audiences and spearheading product development ; set and enforce policies and procedures at Standard Digital; wholly responsible for drawing up and managing the unit’s budget; drive the company’s editorial strategy for digital platforms and responsible for all Standard Digital websites, Apps, social media and all other digital platforms.

    Package Producer

    Overall Purpose of the Job

    To enhance the news production process by ensuring timely and creative packaging of stories from reporters/
    correspondents and other field officers, and ensure smooth running of news casts.

    Responsibilities for the Package Producer Job

    • Write broadcast ready television scripts that are accurate and conversational
    • Receive and re- write news scripts from reporters/correspondents in the fi eld.
    • Voice and package television stories with the help of video editors
    • Select footage to include in broadcasts and review sound bytes in order to ensure smooth composition and fl ow of the news and other current affairs shows
    • Work closely with news directors, graphic designers, video editors and other related offi cers in the news production process to ensure smooth fl ow of bulletins and shows.
    • To liaise with different news editors on the level of creative input that can be done to adhere to the programme
      production instructions with the objective of keeping all news / current affairs interesting and entertaining to the viewer.
    • To review news bulletins and programmes in advance to determine the allocation of facilities, time, and other
      requirements such as graphics (fi gures, names, captions, pictures, backgrounds).
    • To constantly advise editorial department on treatment of news products.
