The candidate will manage and oversee daily operations of the clearing and forwarding department, efficient processes, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely execution of tasks.

Areas of responsibility:

1. Deeper understanding of freight forwarding operation
2. Oversee operations in Mombasa and Nairobi offices
3. Bond Management -execute all required bonds in liaison with the insurance company
4. Generation of internal order numbers -creation of internal order number for tracking & billing purposes
5. Approvals- Review and approve all supplier or vendor invoices before payment
6. Regulatory compliance -ensure compliance with all local and international regulations related to freight forwarding
7. Customs operations oversight- serve as customs liaison representative at KEBS, KRA, and the Kenya Federation of Freight Forwarders Association
8. People Management- offer administrative role to the employee and assessing their performance, setting targets, conducting performance reviews
9. Data protection- maintain confidentiality of department data collected

Job Requirement;

Education

1. Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or from related field
2. Certification from Kenya School of Revenue Administration
3. Computer knowledge

Job related skills, knowledge and experience

1. 5 years experience in managerial position in Clearing & Forwarding
2. Strong understanding of clearing & forwarding operations, regulations, compliance, and financial accuracy, coupled with effective communication skills to liaise with regulatory bodies and insurance companies
3. Good problem-solving skills

The job holder shall ensure all necessary documentation, customs entry permits and customs entries and timely an accurately processed and handled for shipments while liaising with various stakeholders including customers, sales managers and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance in compliance regulations.

Areas of Responsibility

1. Customers entries and IDFs application -ensure receipt and verification of all required documents and permits
2. Manifest follow up -follow up on air and sea manifests to ensure accuracy
3. Container nomination and communication- nominate containers before arrival at Mombasa port
4. Government permits applications -Register customs entries for all regimes
5. Customs operations -Tabulate customs charges and share estimates with internal and external stakeholders
6. Shipping line activities and documentation -Liaise with shipping lines for charges and delivery orders
7. Compliance -with ISO, Industry regulations
8. Data protection -comply with data protection policy

Education

1. Diploma in clearing & forwarding, KESRA Training with ICMs credentials.
2. Proven 5 years working experience as a declarant
3. Certified by KRA with ICMs credentials, Ken Trade Training
