    Workshop Assistant Technician - 1 Position

    Position Overview:

    • The Assistant Technician will be responsible for the general maintenance, servicing and repairs of tires. The role will ensure safekeeping and maintaining of safe working conditions to avoid risk that may cause injury to him as well as the others.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Inspecting and assessing tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality and overall health
    • Recommending and applying appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires
    • Talking to the customer about any issues they are experiencing
    • Installing, balancing, and repairing tires for passenger cars and heavy vehicles
    • Diagnosing and solving alignment issues
    • Ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and safely
    • Repairing and installing tires for trucks, cars, motorcycles, and other heavy vehicles
    • Replacing valves and repairing punctures
    • Will ensure maintenance and proper use of tools, equipment, safekeeping and orderliness of the working area.
    • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant Certificate in Automotive mechanics/At least Grade 2 Certificate in Automotive trade.
    • Must have wide knowledge and skills in repairing different types of tires
    • Must have knowledge in tire troubleshooting.
    • 2 years relevant experience in tire repairs in a busy workshop.
    • Computer literacy and data processing (Word, Excel, Internet).
    • Working Proficiency: English and Kiswahili Languages.

    Workshop Foreman - 1 Position

    Position Overview:

    • The workshop foreman under the general supervision of the workshop officer and within the limits of Peace Winds Japan Kenya policies and procedures coordinates the facilitation of field activities and functions within PWJ. The workshop foreman will work closely with the workshop technicians and other staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Carry out auto-mechanical preventive maintenance and repair of light vehicles, plant and equipment including 4x4 vehicles of various makes, types and models.
    • Carry out overhaul of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic pumps, repair electro-mechanical components, and air brakes.
    • Retrieve, repair, rescue broken down vehicles in the field and provide defects reports.
    • Ensure workshop safety rules and procedures are followed including the use of right tools and equipment for the right job to minimize damage & injury.
    • Interpret instructions, technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics and other guides in conducting repairs and modifications.
    • Perform and carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
    • Take responsibility for approved spares by ensuring proper parts are fitted, high quality of work is maintained for intended purpose.
    • Inspects vehicles and generates spare parts list for requisition processing.
    • Ensure that lubricants and other liquid solutions are used only at the right quantity & quality.
    • Ensure technicians report on the vehicle /Equipment work orders, repairs carried out by indicating spares replaced and time taken to perform repair works for record and confirms that repairs are charged out correctly.
    • Maintain high quality service repairs and minimize comebacks, conduct periodic spot checks of complete
    • Road tests vehicles to quality check-check work performed.
    • Assists the parts technician in identifying quality of spares, and secure used spare parts to avoid refurbishing during repairs.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option) and Driving License class BCE.
    • Relevant experience in motor vehicle repairs, generators, plant and equipment.
    • Demonstrated multi-skilling in mechanics, Auto electrics/electronics an added advantage.
    • Relevant experience in spare parts management.
    • Computer literacy and data processing (Word, Excel, and Internet).
    • Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, especially 4WD vehicles and Isuzu trucks in the automotive field with at least 2 years’ INGO experience.
    • Demonstrated multi-skilling in mechanics, auto electrics, welding & fabrication.
    • Relevant experience in motor vehicle repairs, generators, plant and equipment.
    • Relevant experience in spare parts management.

    Workshop Auto Electrician - 1 Position

    Position Overview:

    • The Auto Electrician will be responsible for the general maintenance, servicing and repairs of all vehicles; generators and other electrical components. The role will ensure safekeeping and maintaining of safe working conditions to avoid risk that may cause injury to him as well as the others.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • S/he will work on all vehicle electrical systems and components, including ignition, fuel injection, engine management systems, anti-lock braking, battery, wiring, charging systems, heating, air conditioning systems, lighting and indicators.
    • Maintenance and repair of varied electrical systems on a diverse range of plant equipment, heavy vehicles and passenger vehicles including Toyota Land Cruiser, Isuzu truck - FVR, FVZ, FTS, MV123, IVECO trucks-Euro cargo/Euro trakker.
    • Overhaul of various starter motors and alternators on a diverse range of plant equipment, heavy vehicles and passenger vehicles.
    • Battery storage, handling and maintenance.
    • Electronic circuit board diagnosis and repair, follows the six-step diagnostic process.
    • Stock control of the electrical service section and update the Supervisor for replenishment.
    • Electrical schematic plan modifications.
    • Ensures that actual hours worked are in line with targets set to minimize downtime.
    • Ensuring the safe working environment of the auto electrical work area.
    • Be prepared to travel frequently to field offices to fulfill the tasks outlined in this JD and living under difficult environmental conditions.
    • Will ensure maintenance and proper use of tools, equipment, safekeeping and orderliness of the working area.
    • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.

    Workshop Office Assistant - 1 Position

    Position Overview:

    • The Workshop Office Assistant under the general supervision of the Workshop Officer and within the limits of Peace Winds Japan Kenya policies and procedures Provide support for the smooth operation of the workshop by ensuring that administrative tasks are handled effectively. The Workshop office assistant will work closely with the workshop team and other staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring customer service needs are met, scheduling is organized and documentation is accurate and up to date.
    • Sending and receiving emails for vehicle scheduling and bookings.
    • Keeping the customer and the supervisor updated with the progress of the maintenance tasks.
    • Notifies the customer when the vehicle is ready for pick up.
    • Scanning documents and transferring notes from technicians into software, including data entry tasks.
    • Receiving and handing over of customer vehicles.
    • Liaising with spare parts technician to ensure timely availability of parts.
    • Addressing customer inquiries or concerns.
    • Maintain a log or spreadsheet to track recalls, including affected vehicles, dates, and actions taken.
    • Maintain service tracking log or spreadsheets for preventive and breakdown maintenance
    • The employee tabulates and posts data in record books and in the ERP system
    • Compiles records and reports.
    • Dealing with routine paperwork regarding repair and maintenance of vehicles and general fabrications.
    • Filing of documents.

    Requirements:

    • A Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option) and Driving License class BCE.
    • Relevant experience in motor vehicle repairs, generators, plant and equipment..
    • Relevant experience in spare parts management (part numbers & coding)
    • Computer literacy and data processing (Word, Excel, and Internet).
