Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Merchant Acquiring, the Merchant Services Manager will be based at the Head Office. He/she will be responsible for daily engagements relating to merchants within the card business unit and providing support to the branch and region channel teams on merchant business needs. This will cover operational, compliance, relationship management and business performance for merchants and will require high level of coordination between business units, segments and enablers.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that recruitment of quality Merchants is done in adherence of the set policies and procedures.
• Ensure that the approval process for Merchant applications is done within SLA timelines.
• Ensure KYC, onboarding, and compliance with card scheme and bank policies (e.g., AML/CFT, PCI DSS).
• Working in liaison with GPC team to ensure that merchant creations are done within the specified timelines and to ensure that all technical challenges are resolved within the SLAs
• Coordination of Merchant Support (POS, E-commerce)
• Analyse merchant activity data and prepare regular dashboards to track volume, revenue, attrition, and channel efficiency
• Work closely with other departments (Card centre Operation, Merchant Settlement and reconciliation, Chargebacks) to ensure branches are supported on all acquiring business issues.
• Ensure channels uptime in liaison with IT
• Timely sharing of market intelligence and market trends
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers to support bundled merchant offerings in alignment with segments
• Coordination of merchant training calendar
• Any other duty assigned by team leader

Qualifications, Experience

• At least an O-Level pass of C+
• Degree certificate in a business-related field.
• Holders of a marketing related professional qualification will have an added advantage.
• Scheme courses and certifications will be an added advantage
• 5 years experience in card business in a bank or fintech.
• Experience working with Visa and Mastercard as an acquirer
• Must have at least 4 years’ experience at Equity Bank (for internal staff recruitment)
• Knowledge of MPGS and Cybersource platforms
• Effective writing and presentation skills in English
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Job Purpose

The role entails direct oversight of credit portfolios across all countries where the Group operates. Key to this role will be an emphasis on ensuring the Group adheres with its objective of growing and maintaining a high-quality asset portfolio.

Job Responsibilities/ Accountabilities   

• Implementation of the Group Credit Risk Policy/framework as outlined with respect to the Credit Risk Monitoring.
• Development of portfolio quality monitoring reports to highlight key insights and trends whilst proactively managing and minimizing expected credit loss, portfolio at risk, and impaired assets. 
• Identification and Tracking of Potentially problematic accounts and production of relevant reports to Senior management for action.
• In collaboration with Finance, periodically review and validate consolidated published credit related information.
• Act as a central point of contact/liaison on credit related workstreams as may be required, by internal/external stakeholders, such as - finance, risk, projects team, subsidiary credit heads and external partners.
• Participate and drive decision making in the Group’s Planning and Budgeting Initiatives within processes such as ICAAP and Stress Testing.
• Continually improve portfolio oversight processes by ensuring high-quality portfolio data within core banking and credit systems through periodic collaboration with IT, Commercial Heads, Product Owners, Program owners etc.
• Where applicable, building new while improving & maintaining credit risk monitoring dashboards.
• Effective independent oversight of the digital credit portfolio automated credit decisioning engines and their performance.
• Detection and Escalation of any Portfolio deviations to management and other stakeholders whilst proposing remedial measures for action.
• Offer recommendations towards the continuous improvement of credit products & programs in view of portfolio trend information.
• Support in the groupwide review and continuous improvement of board credit and management committee presentations.
• Support in the preparation of credit investor decks, induction and training materials as well as circulations within the group and where applicable externally.
• Ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by your supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

• BA/BS in Education, Mathematics, Business, Quantitative Finance, Computer science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or Similar Quantitative field
• At least 10 years working experience, 5 of which must have been within a risk & control function with a focus on data analytics, risk analytics, internal/regulatory reporting, risk appetite monitoring, and/or portfolio management
