Internship Opportunities at United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON)

Under the direct supervision of the cluster team lead, the intern will:

• Generating, digitizing, and maintaining documentation for staff and non-staff recruitment.
• Collecting data from various sources, such as databases and spreadsheets, and ensuring its accuracy.
• Cleaning and transforming raw data for analysis purposes.
• Conducting statistical analysis and data mining to identify trends and patterns in the data.
• Creating clear and easy-to-understand data visualizations like charts and graphs.
• Assisting in the development of workflows and procedures for recruitment processes.
• Providing support for various activities, including creating memos, following up contracts, and official documents.
• Collaborating in the design and improvement of archives and records keeping.
• Recording relevant data related to the recruitment process in iNeed and keeping tickets up to date.
• Supporting the implementation of SharePoint for document transfers.
• Contributing to the enhancement of archives and records keeping for team documents.
• Taking part in Common Back Office preparations, such as preparing recruitment workflows, setting up meetings and progress reports.
• Performing other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),
• Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
• Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Preferred areas of studies:

• Bachelor's in Human Resource Management, Administration, Computer Science, Communication or any other related studies.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
• Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Chief, UNON/ICTS/CCSS/CSU, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

• Assist duty technicians in setting up, operating and maintaining conference and Audio-Visual equipment including simultaneous interpretation systems, AV recording systems, Web streaming, Digital Signage and Remote Simultaneous Interpretation.
• Provide technical support for DCS staff and delegates, setup of computers for conference and training.
• Assist with monitoring the technical infrastructure.
• Assist with the preparation of contracts for short-term staff.
• Assist with the preparation of meeting reports and statistics all meetings held.
• Assist with documentation of processes, workflows and technical infrastructure.
• Provide project support.
• Assist in managing, updating and reporting on inventory.
• Assist with research and development activities.
• Assist in administrative duties within the section.
