    Agronomy Technical Manager

    Role Objective:

    • To provide a support service for all production and compliance programs and operations across all Veg Farm Sites for continuous improvement.
    • Providing BOD visibility at Farm Level and providing recommendations on agronomic corrective action plans as well as following through on all agronomy queries.
    • Custodian of the businesses Agronomy & Technical documents, ensuring that the crop production manual is consistent at all Sites.
    • Manage the Agronomy team at each site
    • Manage issues around documents, Audits/Certification, PPE, Training & Coordination

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Audits – Able to pick up on issues on GAP standards special Production Projects - Looking after special projects i.e. tomatoes and peppers in greenhouse production
    • Advising and assisting farms with up-to-date crop protection and nutrition methods, products and programs for all farms & out growers.
    • Coordinating the implementation of and adherence to GAP and other market standards in the production processes of AAA farms & out growers.
    • Carrying out internal audits on various standards (Global GAP, TN10, F2F, environmental audits, etc.) – follow through on issues around non-conformance
    • Following up with individual farm managers on produce quality issues/complains pertaining to produce delivered to the pack houses and advising on corrective measures.
    • Coordinate Fertilizers/Chemicals supply to the farms as ordered and assist with alternatives where supplies are restricted. Manage any issues
    • Manage the farms’ adherence to PPPL requirements and updating the farms on new inclusions or removals of products from the list.
    • Take a lead in investigating any issues of non-conformity or exceedance of maximum limits and report to senior management in the shortest possible time.
    • Update field quality manual when due for a revision.
    • Attend to meetings with external bodies on behalf of the farms agronomy teams and/or coordinate attendance by the teams to such meetings.
    • Organising for and facilitating external audits for the farms and out growers on the above standards.
    • Monitoring and confirming farms’ planting programs and conducting routine farm visits.
    • Collation of the farms production predictions and stand in for the farms in sales meetings.
    • Recommending and coordinating suitable trainings with external organisations for various teams to improve operational efficiencies on farms.
    • Co-ordinate plants and soil sampling, submission for testing and disseminating the samples results.
    • Coordinating and collating all data collected for various trials carried out by farms and presentation of such data to senior management for final decision.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • Hold Farm Managers to account
    • Follow through on all issues relating to non-conformity

    Key Competencies:

    • Seasoned and qualified Agronomist with at least 10+ years’ proven experience
    • Outstanding Technical knowledge and ability to be challenged on finer details
    • In depth understanding of Veg growing issues
    • On point with new European pesticide programmes
    • Deep understanding of Agronomy Audit requirements
    • Able to communicate with customers on technical issues
    • Able to travel to Farm sites on a very frequent basis

    Crop Protection Manager

    Key responsibilities: 

    To keep all pests of concern in the farm below threshold and ensure maximum harvestable crop with below threshold pest level at Packhouse intake.

    OVERALL DUTIES

    • To implement chemical crop protection activities for the farm or assigned area.
    • To plan weekly spray programs for all crops in consultation with the Production Manager.
    • To obtain, follow and update IRAC and FRAC guidelines on use of pesticides.
    • To ascertain and supervise the use of only registered chemicals for each crop grown.
    • To eliminate chemical residue detection by observance of PHI and reduction of tank mixed active ingredients.
    • To ensure integrity of the spray equipment through regular calibrations (minimum monthly).
    • To ensure the spray equipment is in a serviceable state at all times and to follow up on any repairs that may be needed.
    • To implement various IPM approaches that help in better pest control, reducing the cost of controls and dependence on synthetic chemicals.
    • Continuous supervision and training of the crop protection teams for optimum results and safety of the spray team.
    • To carry out any other duties as instructed by the farm manager from time to time.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Ability to plan for sprays for different crop growth stages and generate a weekly spray plan.
    • Keeping up to date with new trends and products for crop protection
    • An understanding of PPPL’s for the various crops under production
    • A very good appreciation of pest threshold levels and their effect on final quality and production
    • Carrying out efficacy tests periodically

    Senior HR Officer

    Role Objective:  

    To support the Group HR Manager in providing comprehensive, professional and confidential HR services to all sites across the AAA Group. 

    Key Competencies: 

    •  Minimum Diploma in HRM and IHRM registered 
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a busy HR department 
    • Conversant with the Labor Laws 
    •  Pragmatic and able to deal with people 
    • Computer Literate – MS Suite 
    • Proactive and Confident 

    Key Responsibilities:    

    Talent Acquisition 

    • Basel-level recruitment / Co-ordinate recruitment, advertising, Recruitment partner management, scheduling interviews, candidate pre-screening/filtering, conducting the 1st round of interviews, background checking and handling all functional recruitment areas 
    • Coordinate implementation of all phases of the functional recruitment phase - from advertising, screening, short-listing, interviewing, reference checking and final job placement 
    • Ensure candidate details are entered onto the central HR Manager dBase 
    • Organise Induction activities ensuring that HODs/Managers have update On Boarding Checklists and Orientation program schedule 
    • Drive Graduate Recruitment activities – identify eligible casuals at Farm Level and organise interviews and follow-up 

    General HR and Systems Administration 

    • Help draft and subsequent implementation of human resources policies and procedures 
    • Maintain HR Program; update Personal Records Warning Letters, Birth certificates, Salary Reviews, Transfer Letters and issuing different reports as required 
    • Monitor head office employees attendance/ Farm visits ensuring all employees have reported to work and if absent, establish the reason of absence and handle the matter accordingly 
    • Assist departmental heads in planning for annual leaves, maternity leaves and paternity eaves for employees in their department Assist with maintenance and updates of Farms/ Head office Organogram, Pay scales and Job descriptions 
    • Initiate employee joining formalities - Issuing Offer letter, appointment letter etc. and collect all the required documents for new employees  
    • Receive New Joiner contracts from all farms; update the HR Program and maintain both soft and hard copy files
    •  Issue contracts to the payroll department for Final Dues computation and Final dues follow up. 
    • Provide HR Analytics advice for improved reporting   

    Training & Development  

    • Assist in performance management and evaluation matters – including monitoring corrective action plans  
    • Assist with the appraisals exercise and preparation 
    • Identify compliant training partners and research appropriate course content based on Training Needs Analysis
