    Procurement and Supply Chain Lead

    BasiGo is an early stage e-mobility start-up looking to revolutionize the public transportation sector by providing matatu owners with a cost effective electric alternative to diesel. BasiGo is looking for an experienced operations professional in Nairobi, Kenya to help us realize our vision for electrified public transit.  The procurement and supply chain lead will be responsible for all things procurement.  We are setting up a local assembly in Kenya and need the right person to help set up systems for evaluating, purchasing, importing and eventually deploying full assembled Electric Buses in Kenya.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the entire process in the planning of procurement and supply chain activities, inventory control, logistics and distribution, ensuring effectively-functioning processes to avoid costly delays and lost opportunities
    • Ensure effective lines of communication between the engineering department, Project/Programme Managers and the procurement team to ensure priority requirements, timely delivery of goods, works and services using the most appropriate procurement procedures
    • Define and introduce process improvements in the supply chain and identify new vendors/suppliers without jeopardizing quality, timelines and service delivery
    • Perform cost modeling, discussions, and execution of part and assembly cost strategy
    • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers and contractors that facilitate smooth flow of goods and services to BasiGo and our implementation partners
    • Support key functions of the business including inventory management, logistics, and documentation 
    • Develop scalable procurement systems and processes to help the business full CKD manufacturing in Kenya in the next 12 months
    • Track, analyze  and report  on BasiGo’s supply chain performance and give recommendations on areas of improvement and growth

    Our ideal candidate would have:

    Required  Qualifications

    •  BA in Procurement, Supply Chain, Vehicle Engineering,  Business/Project Management or related field
    •  5+ years experience in vehicle or manufacturing industry procurement, product management, or similar role
    •  Project or functional leadership experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    •  Impact, assembly, manufacturing or mobility sector experience is a big plus.
    •  CIPS Diploma or equivalent professional certification, MCIPS certification desirable

    •  Strong communication and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
    •  Highly motivated self-starter, with an eagerness to learn and grow
    •  Detail-oriented and process driven across all aspects of international procurement and supply chain operations
    •  Demonstrated ability to independently scope, prioritize, and manage end-to-end projects & products
    •  Strong analytical skills coupled with advanced expertise in excel or similar tabulated/cell software

    Full Stack Software Engineer

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Develop a suite of software applications for data acquisition, customer management, customer reporting and payments, and operations management.
    • Develop internal and client facing front-end web interfaces on established frameworks.
    • Build out a reliable cloud based architecture (e.g. AWS or other)
    • Develop interfaces to third-party software services and data systems.
    • Deploy tools and simple processes to facilitate QA, issue resolution, and bug tracking.
    • Work with cross-departmental teammates to assess SW development projects, define priorities, communicate status, and develop priorities.
    • Mentor junior software engineers

    Our ideal candidate would have:

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s or four year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or at least 5 years of experience as a senior developer at a brand name technology company.
    • Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, and .Net, and utilizing external APIs for integration with partner systems
    • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and frameworks such React and Angular
    • Proficiency developing simple mobile applications for Android OS.
    • Understanding of software QA processes and a demonstrated ability to self-test and personally ensure quality for code.
    • Direct experience with relational database technology such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.
    • Experience with AWS infrastructure or other similar cloud-based infrastructure services.
    • Experience managing small developer teams.

    Software Product Manager

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Work with key business stakeholders to identify opportunities for software to positively impact our customers and the business.
    • Communicate the product vision and be the voice of the customer to the engineering team.
    • Be the voice of the customer (internal and external) within the business by researching, gathering, and evaluating user requirements, ensuring that insights generated influence business objectives and product road map.
    • Draw insights from experiments, data exploration, user feedback, and market research to inform project prioritization and feature design. Prioritize ruthlessly, don't be afraid of saying no, champion progress over perfection.
    • Manage the entire lifecycle of the product, collaborating with users, design, development team, and other stakeholders to navigate from product conception to go live.
    • Create user stories and detailed specs, working closely with the development team and cross-functional teams to ensure that product/features delivered are within scope and meet business expectations and timelines set.
    • Be the voice of the engineering team for the business stakeholders; communicate any issues and changes to the scope or schedule of your product.
    • Prepare and facilitate the key conversations and meetings that promotes stakeholder engagement and ensures project progress.
    • Ensure comprehension and competence of the team with new tools; take feedback critically and iterate for an exceptional user experience.
    • Researching and translating customer needs to software features and specifications.

    Experience:

    • Previous working experience in Software Product Management.
    • 5 years of experience developing and launching at least 3 software or data products.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new product areas quickly and successfully drive product expansion into new demographics.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain complex systems at scale and a proven intuition for designing robust tools and processes that can adapt quickly and grow.
    • Good working knowledge of the human-centered design approach and agile methodologies
    • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and project management skills
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a strong ability to prioritize
    • Ability to lead teams and mentor others

    Skills:

    • An understanding of Human Centered Design and working UX/UI experience
    • Experience using issue tracking software, e.g. JIRA
    • Experience with wire-framing tools, e.g Balsamiq
