    Unit Manager - Retail Sales

    Job purpose

    Role holder will be responsible for providing overall leadership to a group of Financial Advisors (unit) as prescribed in Britam to ensure key performance deliverables for the unit are met.

    We have oppotunities across our 32 Branches in the following regions;

    • Nairobi Region
    • Mt. Kenya Region - Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Murang'a, Nanyuki
    • Rift Valley Region - Nakuru, Eldoret, Narok, Kitale, Naivasha
    • Western/ Nyanza Region - Kisumu, Kisii, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kericho
    • Coast Region - Mombasa, Nyali, Malindi

    Key responsibilities

    1. Sales planning that achieves the set goals and objectives.
    2. Selling of Life Products and other company products as targets prescribe.
    3. Quality recruitment, selection and retention of productive Financial Advisors.
    4. Conducting trainings on company products, processes, sales and soft skills to achieve results.
    5. Conduct Field Training with Financial Advisors to ensure hands on approach to sales
    6. Performance management and supervision to drive sales across all product lines and meet targets.
    7. Provide one-to-one coaching, mentoring and motivation to members of their teams and ensure that they effectively implement strategies and agreed action plans.
    8. Market segmentation and opening of markets for financial advisors to secure business.
    9. Meeting the set persistency levels of life business and retention targets for other lines of business.
    10. Providing effective customer service to both prospective and existing customers
    11. Preparing sales and other management reports as required from time to time
    12. Deliver on performance requirements as defined in the unit key deliverables in alignment to the Branch key deliverables.

    Key Performance Measures

    • Production, Life Persistency & Business Retention, Recruitment& Training and People Management.
    • As prescribed in the contractual agreement.

    Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

    1. A business related degree is a minimum requirement or its equivalent
    2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Life Insurance Unit Management added advantage
    3. Relevant professional qualifications in COP. However, certification or proof of study in ACII, AIIK or CIM will be an added advantage.
    4. Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
    5. Above average computer skills

    Financial Advisor

    Job Purpose and Key responsibilities

    • Developing a list of potential clients from referrals, networks and other sources for engagement and interesting them in financial services
    • Prospecting for clients for the provision of financial service solutions mostly insurance products ranging from education to savings plans
    • Approaching potential clients by utilizing mailings and phone solicitation; making presentations to groups at company-sponsored gatherings; speaking publicly to community groups on the subject of financial well-being.
    • Determining clients particular needs and financial situations by scheduling fact-finding appointments; determining extent of present coverage and investments; ascertaining long-term goals.
    • Obtaining underwriting approval by completing application for coverage and submitting the same
    • Completing coverage by delivering policy; planning future follow-up visits and evaluations of needs.
    • Providing continuing service and support to existing clients for the duration of their cover or solution by consistent engagement
    • Up selling and cross selling to existing clients by constant engagement and unearthing new and emerging needs
    • Updating job knowledge by participating in both internal and self sponsored trainings, reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
    • Attending regular meetings as required at the branch and unit level either physically or virtually as the case may be to participate in sueprvision and personal development sessions

    • Prospecting Skills, Meeting Sales Goals, Motivation for Sales, Selling to Customer Needs, Client Relationships, People Skills, Product Knowledge, General Math Skills, Organization, Dependability, Statistical Analysis
