    Interim Government Affairs Specialist

    Key Responsibilities.

    • Gather intelligence and assist in the preparation of position papers, policy briefings, presentations, actively drives initiatives across the region.
    • Coordinate actions through strategic partners in government and industry communicating corporate positions and objectives. 
    • Projects may include implementation of public policy activities, government and industry lobbying efforts, advocating government funding initiatives and identifying new opportunities favorably advancing the company’s influence with the government.
    • They will  this focus on mobilizing stakeholders to drive access to cancer care in the region. 
    • Support existing relationships with external healthcare stakeholders across regional and national levels i.e. National cancer control program, National cancer institute , MOH, NHIF , patient advocacy groups etc.
    • Conduct research, monitor, analyse & evaluate policies and legislation to ensure that Varian is well placed to support countries in Kenya and East Africa.
    • Support the government affairs function & regional leadership in developing and executing the company strategy for Kenya and East Africa.
    • Support government affairs function to drive key initiatives across the region to elevate the visibility and influence of Varian.

    Skills & Qualifications.

    • Graduates’ degree in Public health, Health Administration, Health Economics or Public Policy.
    • 2-4 years of experience working in Government affairs and/or Market Access Influencing roles in East Africa.
    • Experience working in the Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical industry.
    • Ability to be impartial and diplomatic when working across GEOs/Regions to determine the best solution.
    • Ability, competence, and confidence to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
    • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
    • Excellent presentation skills & the ability to work successfully under pressure
    • Excellent fluency in English, verbal and written, required. Fluency in other languages would be a plus.
    • Familiar with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Flexibility to travel for business as required.
    • Contributes to team efficiency through the quality of personal work and by influencing teammate output to required standards.
    • Must understand team collaboration and have effective networking skills.

    Operations Team Leader

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise merchant onboarding/vetting/support and alternative channel functions. 
    • Ensure merchant suspicious activities are identified and any AML incidents are documented and reported. 
    • Develop and skillfully manage relationships with partners and vendors. 
    • Ensure the Operations department’s shift and leave schedules are properly planned and availed to all members. 
    • Ensure the Operations team members have all resources and system access required for optimal performance. 
    • Evaluate and monitor the company’s performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics across departments.

    • Identify gaps in processes and provide valuable input to formulate lasting solutions. 
    • Prepare and submit departmental reports to the manager.

    Key Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
    • Should have a background in online financial services.
    • 1-3 years of experience in a similar environment would be an added advantage.

    Senior Project Manager

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Management: 

    • Lead the development, implementation and reporting of the Program and alignment with Digital strategic plan indicators. 
    • Oversee overall coordination of Country-wide Activities including Program activities, training, key events and meetings. 
    • Overseeing the effectiveness of the entire program for scale and impact. 
    • Driving results – monitoring the success of youth trained getting linked to Online Work. 
    • Develop and implement appropriate tools and related guidelines for continuous improvements of the program 
    • Implementation and impact assessment in close consultation with the Management. 

    Supervision 

    • Leading, mentoring and supervising the Team- Centre Managers, Trainers and Project staff and providing overall direction and leadership. 
    • Effectively communicate with team members and management. 
    • Assess staff’s skills, performance and productivity to identify areas of improvement. 
    • Oversee the monthly and quarterly plans for the program activities at the Centres. 
    • Drive program values and philosophy in the Team and through all training activities. 

    Budgeting 

    • In collaboration with the Management, lead and support resource forecasting, mobilization and allocation in accordance with the implementation plan and client guidelines. 
    • Lead and oversee the development & implementation of overall work plans. 
    • Proven track record of delivering on budget requirements. 

    Partners/Stakeholder Management 

    • Build and manage relationships with stakeholders from the Public and Private sectors in order to identify and catalyse strategic opportunities to develop and support initiatives that align with the program’s core objectives. 
    • Establish and/or maintain relations with implementing Collaborators including Universities, Colleges, and Technical and Vocational institutions, for the program work. 
    • Build a database of interested stakeholders in an effort to create the pool for Program stakeholders. 
    • Represent the Program’s overall interests and perspectives towards external and internal stakeholders. 

    Quality Control/Reporting 

    • Quality control to ensure program results, effective delivery of training and impact – youth getting linked to Online Work. 
    • Ensure proper documentation of project work, including best practices, evaluation reports, etc. 
    • Oversee overall coordination of success stories, social media and engagement and documentation.
    • Keep abreast of ICT and digital trends, developments and best practices of online work. 

    Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business or related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in management, preferably youth, training and development management. 
    • Experience with program management, digitally savvy, experience managing a team (delegate, organize work and people, hold meetings), prior experience working in large projects or with a large company/NGO etc. will be an added benefit. 
      • Experience with online work/freelancing is an added advantage
      • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
