    Analyst- Financial Services Assurance

    DESCRIPTION

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in Financial Services Assurance within Financial Services Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to Senior Manager – Financial Services Assurance, The incumbent will assure Safaricom’s Financial services revenues through billing integrity  in order to ensure closure/mitigation of any possible leakages in line with revenue assurance policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that all M-PESA tariffs, ands, rating and billing systems are accurately set up and are aligned with the approved business rules to ensure minimal revenue loss.
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of M-PESA balances through balance monitoring checks.
    • Ensure accuracy of the M-PESA E-value balances through reconciliations between the E-value and M-PESA trust account balance.
    • Provide assurance on M-PESA commissions and any other direct costs, through performing an end-to-end reconciliation of all commissions rolled up and paid both per agent and commission type.
    • Provide assurance on any M-PESA commission arbitrage and ensure accuracy in the computation of related clawback
    • Provide assurance on M-PESA archived funds following churned/ deleted customers.
    • Ensure all Financial Services products & promotion are assured through conducting comprehensive risk assessments
    • Provide Revenue Assurance support for M-PESA related system upgrades/expansions
    • Continuously review the operating environment within M-PESA to identify new and emerging risks and advise the organization on the various means to mitigate the identified risks.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A graduate with a degree in Computer Science, IT.
    • Professional certification in Oracle, unix/linux, risk management and information systems
    • Relevant post-graduate education is an added advantage
    • Professional certification in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management or Information systems is an added advantage.
    • Have at least 2 years’ experience in Risk Management, Strategy Planning & management of business process improvement at a senior level
    • Prior experience in formulation & implementing commercial & mobile fraud prevention processes, detection, and investigation models
    • Ability to analyze significant amounts of data and information and distill it to the key points that help senior management analyze risk in a given situation.
    • Have strong analytical skills
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

    Senior Manager – M-Pesa Mergers and Acquisition and Seed Funding

    DESCRIPTION

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to Tribe Lead Next Financial Services, The incumbent will be primarily responsible for managing all mergers and Acquisitions and all Pre-Seed and Seed Funding protocols, systems, and governance, in order to ensure sound, efficient decision-making and reporting on the progress, outputs, and results of Seed Funded projects. Pre-Seed and Seed (hence referred to as "Seed" funding) are used to support the early stages of innovation creation and commercialization, as well as to accelerate the growth of existing M-Pesa initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    Analysis and Investment process

    • Assess the investment case for any mergers and or Acquisitions
    • For selected projects manage the due diligence process on the technology, market, customers, business model and possible future acquirers of the start-up
    • Develop a detailed written investment case with supporting documentary evidence
    • Lead the negotiation of investment terms and coordinate on preparation of legal investment documentation
    • When raising external investment, the role holder will also be responsible for preparing the investment marketing documentation including executive summaries, one-pagers and compelling investment presentations

    Project Management

    • Project manage the complete investment process ensuring all internal stakeholders (internal legal resources, internal decision makers) are clear on and supportive of the process and the specific actions
    • Responsible for managing all aspects of the pitch events and the quarterly investor advice sessions
    • Responsible for liaising with external advisors including management teams and legal advisors

    Liaison

    • Recommend potential start-ups and liaise with the selected start-ups, providing information, answering questions and arranging meetings where relevant
    • Liaise with the start-up companies after formation to monitor their progress.
    • Capture metrics associated with the startup company development such as funding received, number of employees and sales revenue, so that Imperial can assess the effectiveness of its entrepreneurial ecosystem and provide obligatory reports to management.

    Seed Fund Management

    • Establishing the mandates, processes and systems associated with Seed Fund
    • Management of the Seed Fund, where funding may be secured from different sources, requiring the management of nuanced mandates with in the same Seed Fund framework
    • Providing a secretariat function to the Seed Fund Investment Committee (IC), and managing all reporting to funders/stakeholders, including receiving reports from project leaders and/or Innovation Support managers and engaging with IC and relevant team members to ensure sound governance of the Seed Fund
    • Providing overall Seed Fund portfolio management and risk identification

    Developmental Functions

    • Raising awareness of, and providing relevant training interventions to ensure full understanding of Seed Fund process within the FS Cluster, Safaricom, and M-Pesa Africa
    • Participating in internal and external workshops, conferences etc.to broaden own skills and contribute to the innovation support profession

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree from a recognized university preferably in Business, Research, Finance or Economics
    • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
    • Fundraising with external funders
    • Experience managing venture capital/investment fund regulatory processes
    • Must have a good understanding of the payment/financial services market.
    • Must have excellent financial and analytical skills.
    • Must demonstrate an awareness of current events and trends.

    Senior Software Engineer

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Software Engineering Lead the job holder will run with day-to-day standardized microservice development to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery that meets the expectations of the business.

    Application development duties include but not limited to specification, design, development, validation, documentation and evolution of the new and current service applications; performance management; ensuring integrity of the web services; maintenance and fault management.

    Other activities include knowledge sharing, mentorship of junior developers.

    Responsibilities

    • Writing and analyzing code for portions of a project/projects.
    • Inspect and test code.
    • Helping engineers fix and solve complex problems.
    • Work with stakeholders, product owners and technical leads to keep projects on track.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to entry level and mid-level software engineers
    • Influence and guide on DevSecOps best practices within Safaricom Engineering framework and practices.
    • Development of microservices. It would be good to have understanding of Java, python, c#. Java is preferred.
    • Influence and guide the team in making critical architectural, design and programming decisions.
    • Evangelize software engineering best practices across the team using Safaricom Engineering values.
    • Design, test and rollout of running software services.
    • Run and enforce code reviews among the team.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BSc. Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT.
    • 5+ years’ experience in software development in a busy IT environment.
    • Experience in Agile Development/software life-cycle development (SDLC).
    • Strong programming and technical skills. Extensive programming experience using Java, C#, Python, JavaScript etc
    • Strong problem-solving skills leveraging on data structures and algorithms.
    • Passion for people and building collaborative teams.
    • Extensive experience with databases – relational data model, Stored Procedures, PL/SQL development, Messaging / Streaming, RDBMS, NoSql Databases and InMemory Databases.

    Enterprise Integration BPM Support Lead

    DESCRIPTION

    We are pleased to announce the following Job Opportunity for Enterprise Integration  BPM Support Lead in Digital IT Department within the Technology Division.  In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Reporting to the Tech Lead – Core Billing & BSS Operations, the role holder is responsible for second line support of the integration platform and related services, provide technical leadership to the support team as well as report on service performance based on an agreed upon set of metrics.  He or she will also work with the planning and delivery teams to onboard new services and engage business and other stakeholders as and when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate releases of new product and services into production, ensure alignment of all stakeholders, review runbooks and change work instructions to ensure deployment as per plan while achieving non-functional and operational requirements.
    • Ensure the operational readiness requirements are properly documented, regularly reviewed, and updated where necessary to govern introduction of services/products to production environments
    • Manage events and incidents in the integration services production environments and ensure resolution within target recovery time by identifying the root cause or putting in place a workaround to restore service or a permanent fix. Document the incident, impact and track all arising actions items via problem management.
    • Ensuring all stakeholders are actively engaged during incidents and critical/major changes.
    • Planning, coordinating execution and documenting the business continuity all the services in the domain to ensure disaster recovery readiness is achieved.
    • Continuously evaluate the performance of the systems in the domain, review configurations and monitoring to ensure policy and technical compliance, recommend improvements and track closure.
    • Engaging stakeholders across different business units on continuous service improvement initiatives within the domain, track, update on progress to closure and manage any impediments.
    • Maintain reports on team performance, vendor performance and system performance as well as review departmental and divisional reports especially around availability, capacity, and service management, pick out any actions that require attention and prioritize for resolution.
    • Lead the integration engineers on day-to-day activities while ensuring proper resource scheduling for optimal delivery.
    • Undertake regular one on ones, performance reviews and mentorship of team members to ensure optimal performance.
    • Work with the planning and development teams to chart the target architecture and roadmap to evolve integration systems to fit for future platforms.
    • Lead the team on research in new ways of operating integration platforms, identify opportunities for automation and well as spearhead the adoption of machine learning and AIOps.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • University Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
    • 8 years’ experience in a networked and dynamic IT environment at least 5 of those should be as a senior operations/support engineer or as a software developer.
    • 5 years IT operations experience at least 3 of which are in middleware integration platforms like Tibco, MuleSoft, Oracle SOA, JBoss etc and Business Process Management solutions such as Tibco BPM.
    • Advanced skillset in webserver administration and optimization. E.g., Apache, Apache Tomcat, Nginx, Microsoft IIS etc.
    • Experience in relational databases e.g., oracle, MySQL; database scripting e.g., PL/SQL and working knowledge of NO-SQL databases.
    • ITIL and agile experience, training, and certification.
    • Experience in monitoring of large-scale systems and deployment of automation and machine learning to provide self-healing/AI Ops capabilities.
    • Knowledge and experience with No-SQL databases, cloud technologies e.g., AWS, Python/Java programming will be an added advantage
