    Internship Program Opportunities

    In support of the Government’s Youth Initiative to develop a pool of young talent for the Kenyan Labour Market, KRA is seeking applications from fresh Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma graduates for its January to December 2021 Internship programme. Law degree holders pursuing the Advocates Training program (Pupils) at the Kenya School of Law will be engaged for six (6) months only.

    The program aims at providing the Youth an opportunity for on-the job experience to build upon skills acquired at school and enhance their employability and is open within the various Support Services departments of the Authority in the following disciplines: Finance/Accounting, Economics/Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Human Resource, Marketing /Communications, Library & Information Science, Records Management, ICT, Hospitality, Security/Criminology, Project Management, Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Counselling Psychology, Disaster Management.

    Requirements for engagement as an Intern

    1. Be a Kenyan Citizen aged between 20 and 35 years
    2. Must have graduated with a first Degree (undergraduate) or Diploma from a recognized institution between January 2020 and December 2020
    3. Must be available full time for the twelve months duration of the program
    4. Should not have undertaken any other internship or exposed to work experience in their area of specialization, after graduation.

    Chief Manager – HR Planning, Resourcing & Administration

    JOB PURPOSE

    This role is responsible for leading the HR planning, resourcing and HR Administration functions at the Authority.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee HR Planning, Resourcing, and Administration processes, systems and procedures, including development of work plans, reports and budgets
    • Ensure that the Authority has the appropriate number of staff equipped with the relevant skills, knowledge (competencies) and attitudes to enable it attain its mission, vision, goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for linking HR management to the Authority’s strategic plan and determine the current and future HR needs based on the strategic goals.
    • Ensuring that records of all employees and matters pertaining to staff are maintained in a manner that is easily identifiable and retrievable without compromising its integrity and confidentiality, including facilitation of the development of filing systems, and maintaining the same to meet administrative, legal and financial requirements of the HR Division.
    • Ensure effective and efficient service delivery of the Employee Resourcing and HR Administration functions including management of placement, transfer, deployment, and separations
    • Lead or participate in HR and corporate projects and ensure that KRA’s people strategies reflect best practice including supporting research and data analysis on subject matters of interest to the Authority’s Human Resource and provide technical guidance to the other programs in HR.
    • Oversee workforce demand and supply forecasting and submit proposals for approval while ensuring maintenance of KRA staff establishments and organization/departmental structures
    • Monitor and evaluate divisions programs including Service Level Agreement, impact assessment and implementation of Corporate Plan and provide recommendations on key HR issues.
    • Formulate plans for meeting workforce requirement and ensuring proper utilization of existing human resources to meet organizational objectives including implementing manpower requisitions and staff movements in accordance with the approved organization structure and staff establishment.
    • Day-to-day operations, supervision, management of performance and development of staff in the Section.
    • Facilitate implementation of the work plans for the following corporate initiatives in the Section: Audit, Integrity, QMS and Risk Management.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Academic qualification:

    • A Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management or related field from a recognized institution. 

    Professional qualification:

    • Post graduate Diploma/Certificate in Human Resource Management
    • Membership to a Professional Body – IHRM 

    Professional experience:

    • Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience in a similar role, three (3) of which should be at a management level in a similar-sized organization.

    Manager – HR Organizational Development & Effectiveness

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Responsible for development and coordination of HR programs and projects to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the review of the Authority's Organization structures and updating approved changes in the structure
    • Develop an effective framework of establishing the resourcing and workforce planning needs for the organization
    • Manage staff establishment and workforce planning framework including vacancy forecasting model, to provide informed advice to the appropriate decision makers
    • Support the development and delivery of HR business processes which focus on HR functions such as induction, learning and development, succession planning and performance management.
    • Develop and implement broad organizational initiatives and support corporate change processes including preparation of concept papers, framework/strategy papers
    • Oversee workforce analysis, staff mapping and distribution/rationalization
    • Ensure job descriptions for all positions are regularly updated and maintained and advice managers on reviews of roles/responsibilities/specifications
    • Ensure maintenance of staff establishment and organization/departmental structures
    • Link HR management directly to the strategic plan of the Authority, and forecast HR needs for the future based on the strategic goals of the Authority
    • Provide expert advice on the development of organizational improvement initiative to senior management
    • Lead the design and development of new roles in the organization, to ensure they address the needs of the organization in terms of accountabilities
    • Participate in the Workforce Planning Committee to ensure that decisions regarding the recruitment and retention of sufficient trained officers is underpinned by the analysis and data from workforce modelling activities and that all necessary information is available which enables appropriate decisions to be made.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Academic qualification:

    • Bachelors degree in relevant/related field from a recognized institution.

    Professional qualification:

    • A Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources e.g. Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)
    • Membership to a Professional Body – IHRM

    Professional experience:

    Minimum of five (5) year’s specific and relevant work experience in the area of Organizational Development, HR Strategic Planning.
