    Human Resource Manager

    Minimum Requirements

    • Advanced Microsoft Office suite
    • At least four years of human resource experience required
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • Certifications such as CHRP or other professional certifications are highly preferred.
    • Must have a leadership Certificate.
    • Should demonstrate skills in interpersonal communication, decision-making, organization, leadership, and speaking

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assess and determine employee training needs, skills, and knowledge to enable them to perform their job effectively.
    • Assist in the recruitment and selection of the right candidates
    • Develop and administer programmes, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the University's strategic direction
    • Document and maintain employee records and information, including employment history, work hours, etc.
    • Ensure employees get services, benefits, and facilities to enhance employee well-being
    • Ensure timely preparation of the payroll.

    Legal Officer

    Minimum Requirements

    • A first-level university degree in law with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience
    • At least 4 years of progressively responsible professional legal experience is required in the practice of law in a government or a law firm with substantial experience in administrative, commercial and/or criminal law matters.
    • Must be an Advocate of the High Court and an active member of the Law Society of Kenya.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Any other activity deemed appropriate by the Council and Management
    • Direct Staff- To direct all claim adjusters, liability attorneys and management. With proper leadership, the legal staff can proceed with clarity, efficiency and confidence and hopefully resolve the matter swiftly
    • Identify Risks- To regularly analyze the actions and decisions of the institution in order to identify problem areas, suggest alternative courses of action and mitigate risk as much as possible.
    • Participate in negotiations and settlement of claims and disputes
    • Perform Research - To continuously research legal resources such as articles, codes, statutes, judicial decisions and more. Doing so will allow the Legal Officer to stay up to date on all current laws and make well-educated legal recommendations
    • Process Documents -Will frequently need to write and review settlement documents, contracts, agreements and more. This task makes up of a significant portion of the day-to-day work and requires both focus and precision.
    • Provide guidance to and may supervise, more junior staff on straight forward matters
    • Provide Legal Advice -Using oral or written platforms, will be expected to brief team of staff members on legal issues, potential liabilities and possible courses of actions. This involves translating complicated legal jargon into language which everyone can understand.
    • Represent the institution in judicial, arbitral or administrative proceedings.
    • Review investigation reports and provide legal opinion to the Vice-Chancellor on matters of conduct and discipline implementation or any breaches of the institution’s rules and regulations
    • Review, advise on and draft contracts, agreements, institutional and operational modalities and other

    Full Professor/ Research Professor - Geography

    FULL PROFESSOR/ RESEARCH PROFESSOR

    • This is the senior most academic/research position. The appointee shall be expected to provide academic/research leadership to members in lower academic/research Grades Appointment is a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract, depending on age, citizenship, and any other reason.

    Academic Qualification

    • Must have an earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from accredited and recognized university.

    Experience and Responsibility

    • Must have at least eleven (11) years of continuous/cumulative full time university teaching or research experience, three (3) of which must have been as an Associate Professor, or Associate Research Professor.
    • Must since last promotion to Associate Professor have supervised a minimum of five (5) post-graduate students to completion and at least two (2) at Doctoral level and

    Should have:

    • Attracted research or development funds - attended or contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
    • Evidence of continued effective research, effective teaching and supervision.
    • Evidence of academic /research leadership in the area of specialization through joint research, publications and membership of professional societies.
    • Evidence of leadership (administrative experience, active participation in departmental/school/ university activities as well as national and international activities).

    Skills

    • Leadership and coordination at institutional, departmental, school and community level.
    • Teaching and /or research and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Proposal, report and research paper writing.
    • Design and develop academic programmes and curricula
