    Communications Intern

    Essential Responsibilities & Duties

    • Work with teams across the organization to identify stories of impact.
    • Support collection of impact stories and thought leadership articles (opinion pieces) within RefuSHE’s strategic objectives.
    • Coordinate with Program teams to ensure donor communications and visibility requirements are met.
    • Identify opportunities to support organizational initiatives and develop communications materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities.
    • Create high quality content for dissemination via RefuSHE’s platforms.
    • Assist in implementing and executing communications strategies, campaigns, events, and other initiatives in support of the program activities.
    • Support in production of key publications.
    • Contribute to communications editorial and events calendar.
    • Help build and maintain mailing lists, media lists and support other contact management activities.
    • Develop and schedule relevant social media content to drive engagement and strengthen RefuSHE’s public profile.
    • Assist in coordinating the development of marketing materials, and external communications materials.
    • Conduct research to inform communication activities e.g., news alerts, relevant events, speaking opportunities, PR cultivation opportunities.
    • Support RefuSHE’s Fashion Challenge 2023 event planning and execution.
    • Update and maintain marketing and communications multimedia resources.
    • Other job-related duties as assigned.

    Education Requirements

    • Recent graduate with a degree in Communications, PR, Marketing or related course

    Related Experience & Qualifications

    • Demonstrated interest in communications, public relations, development communication, social causes.
    • Knowledge of social media and current trends.
    • Strong writing abilities and computer skills.
    • Willingness to conduct research and provide creative ideas for content

    ICT Trainer

    Job Purpose

    The purpose of the ICT Trainer role is to impart relevant knowledge and skills to RefuSHE’s program participants in the ICT vocational training track and mentor them to be able to bid for jobs in the online gig economy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Train cohorts of RefuSHE students in a 6-month digital skills program consisting of a 3-month instructional module and a 3-month practical module.
    • Plan and roll out a post-graduation mentorship program to support post-graduation activities through online and in person sessions.
    • Work closely with the MEAL Manager to collect data on trainees’ online jobs and earnings.
    • Through employer-provided training, attain a skill level and training methodologies appropriate for instruction on all topics related to the course, including digital skills, online freelance skills and soft skills.
    • Lead effective training in RefuSHE’s IT Lab using the approved curriculum and support students in the completion of classroom exercises and with technical issues.
    • Evaluate, monitor and follow-up on student progress, keeping daily and weekly records and reports.
    • Answer technical questions from students related to class exercises and curriculum content.
    • Explain abstract concepts to students who are new to these concepts.
    • Maintain equipment and software in working order and that it is used appropriately during training.
    • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance and manage the installation of equipment in the morning and its shutdown in the evening.
    • Work directly with both the RefuSHE and other external ICT implementing teams in terms of coordination and communication to successfully deliver the program and to overcome challenges that emerge during the training.
    • Ensure that all programs are developed and implemented with a trauma-informed lens

    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, education, or related field of study.

    Related Experience/Qualifications

    • 3 years of relevant teaching/training experience

    Technical & Behavioral Skills

    • Computer science and digital media instruction and training.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Coaching and mentoring.
    • Data collection, impact evaluation, and reporting.
    • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
    • Language skills in French or local dialects spoken in Somalia, Congo, and South Sudan desirable.

    Child Protection & Case Management Officer

    Job Purpose

    The purpose of the Child Protection and Case Management Officer role is to provide case management services to Girls Empowerment Program (GEP) participants/Safe House residents/Community-based Protection program beneficiaries. This includes conducting assessments to identify the needs of individuals, determine appropriate responses to these needs, and coordinating the provision of relevant activities and services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide refugee girls and young women with relevant assistance by determining eligibility to admission in RefuSHE programs or referring them to other relevant agencies such as UNHCR/Department of Refugee Services.
    • Initiate relationships with RefuSHE program participants and conduct individual case management for them, in close coordination with other departments.
    • Assess the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of each participant and establish a trust relationship to support and facilitate their growth and development.
    • Based on the results of the assessments, develop individual support plans with participants in the GEP program/implement appropriate short and long-term plans of care for children/participants in the Safe House/community, and document progress against milestones on a quarterly basis.
    • Work closely with participants in the GEP/Community (including Women Ambassador Groups) to identify unaccompanied minors (UAMs) and separated children and place children in appropriate care (e.g. with foster parents or in the Safe House) based on protection issues and individual case needs.
    • Participate in the development of case management monitoring systems/receive and review referrals and requests for services to determine eligibility to admission in RefuSHE programs and grant-funded projects.
    • Link participants to community resources, government agencies, and other partners when appropriate.
    • Complete requirements for court hearings, with support from the Legal and Advocacy Manager, if and where the law may require preparation of evidence materials.
    • In collaboration with other departments, conduct training on sexual and gender-based violence, reproductive health, refugee rights, and foster parenting as required.
    • Participate in regular inter-unit coordination meetings to discuss the provision of services to program participants.
    • Prepare accurate, thorough and timely recording of case information both in online databases and participant files, including case notes, modules, reports, family histories, correspondence, and legal forms as required by other agencies/organizations such as UNHCR and the Department of Refugee Services.
    • Prepare monthly progress reports on core tasks depicting social work interventions and milestones achieved.
    • Represent RefuSHE in different forums as assigned by your supervisor.

    Education Requirements

    • Degree in Social Sciences/Social Work or other related studies from a recognized institution
    • Additional Certificate/Diploma in Nursing is an advantage.

    Related Experience/Qualifications

    • 3-5 years’ work experience in implementing projects.
    • Working with refugees is an added advantage.

    Technical & Behavioral Skills

    • Good understanding of case management model.
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
    • Good planning and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex and diverse tasks.
    • Ability to remain flexible in a dynamic environment and work well in a team.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Good report writing and computer skills.
    • Good command of English both oral and written.
