    Investment Manager

    Requirements of the role

    • Demonstrable experience in managing diverse investments.
    • Supporting investment deal origination.
    • Conducting due diligence and developing investment proposals for new investments.
    • Portfolio management of existing investments.
    • Providing general support to the senior management team on investment operational matters.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Investment Management

    • Development and implementation of a comprehensive and innovative Investment strategy.
    • Work with colleagues to identify, negotiate and appraise a portfolio of debt, equity and mezzanine investments. This involves:
    • deal origination and initial screening and appraisal of new investment opportunities
    • alongside CEO and Board, participating in commercial negotiations relating to the structure and terms of any potential investment
    • Carrying out due diligence of investment opportunities, including oversight of SIC’s Investments in commercial units, as well as liaising with third-party service providers as required
    • Lead investor relations forums and engagements.

    Portfolio Management

    Provide on-going portfolio management and reporting on portfolio investments, to include:

    • Monitoring and evaluation of investment performance against key targets, including the management and reporting of potential business/investment risks as they arise.
    • Providing (or procuring from within SIC or externally) management support to help investees as required.
    • Involvement in quarterly portfolio reporting to the Corporate Team and SIC’s Board.
    • Work with the Corporate team to ensure that SIC resources are most effectively utilised across the portfolio; and
    • Developing and maintaining an active pipeline of investment opportunities.

    Operations

    Work closely with the senior team in the firm to manage the day-to-day activities and overall financial performance of the firm:

    • Participate in budget and investment target setting
    • Work with the corporate team on overall strategy, cost-management and operational objectives
    • Monitor the financial performance against agreed KPIs; and
    • Contribute to external reporting.

    Reporting

    • The Investment Manager will be an integral part of an investment team, reporting to the CEO and the Board of Directors
    • With respect to matters relating to new and existing investments, the employee will also work with the respective Business Unit Managers and Specialist teams

    Academic Qualifications

    • Undergraduate Degree from a reputable university with a post graduate education in business
    • Registered with relevant professional bodies
    • Investment Qualification is an added advantage

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Not less than 5-7 years’ experience in a relevant investment business (e.g. private equity, DFI, impact investor, financial services)
    • Experience of working in Kenya in an investment role
    • Excellent analytical, finance, and negotiation skills (including familiarity with a range of debt and equity instruments)
    • Strong financial modelling skills (including equity valuation models)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Collegiate working style with a strong management capability
    • Ability to develop and manage strategic relationships with funders, peer organizations and potential investees
    • Ideally an understanding and experience of funding and development priorities in Kenya

    HR Manager

    Purpose and Objectives

    The job holder will provide strategic leadership for all people-related initiatives critical to enable SIC achieve its objectives.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Leadership, Management and Decision Making

    • Provide leadership in the Human Resources department ensuring alignment of the department to organizational goals, promote and implement best practices in HR Management.
    • Lead in development and Implementation of the SIC People Management Strategy and annual work plans that are aligned to the overall SIC Strategy.
    • Develop and maintain an up-to-date HR management policy and procedures manual along best practices that guide processes of attraction, development, retention of Human Capital in SIC.
    • Be a team member in SIC’s Strategy and budgetary planning processes as a resource person.
    • Provide insights to the CEO and the Board with regards to people management to drive SIC productivity, incentives, motivation, succession planning and culture alignment, to the set goals.
    • Oversee, review, and adhere to the budgetary allocation for the Human Resources Function.
    • Work with the CEO to build and evolve a culture of integrity and performance within SIC, promoting employee engagement, productivity and living the prescribed corporate values.
    • Ensure that all of the SIC’s HR practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation.

    HR Management Information and Reporting

    • Preparation of HR Management market trends reports.
    • Develop HRM Reports as required by the Board and or the Regulator.
    • Oversee HR Administration.

    Personnel – People Management/Health, Safety, and Wellness

    • Ensuring that Human Resources of SIC are effectively managed in terms of selection and recruitment, incentives and motivation, discipline in line with best practice, Human Resource Strategy, and Policy of the SIC.
    • Understand and implement SIC leadership responsibilities and accountabilities across SIC.
    • Oversee training, mentoring and coaching programs across SIC.
    • Ensure understanding and compliance to relevant occupational health and safety obligations. Ensure health, safety and wellness initiatives are supported and that relevant policies are understood, followed and implemented by all employees.
    • Engage and give back to communities we operate in, in terms of SIC Corporate and Social Responsibility Values.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent,
    • Post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management/CHRP
    • Must be a member of relevant professional body
    • At least Seven years’ experience
    • Computer skills and good knowledge of HRMIS
    • Good communication and relationship skills
    • Excellent understanding of labour laws and emerging issues in employment

    ICT Manager

    Requirements of the role

    • Demonstrable experience in ICT management in a mid-sized to a large business entity
    • Support development and implementation of comprehensive ICT strategic plan
    • Provide leadership in building a strong ICT department that is modern, innovative and supports organizational effectiveness.
    • Demonstrate a strong business acumen and focus on customer centricity.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage the overall technology infrastructure (Collocated Servers, Cloud Webserver and their Networks).
    • Maintaining data integrity, security and access-monitoring user access, developing and maintaining system security in line with standards and ensuring compliance to all standards.
    • Applying data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts, meet integration and performance expectations.
    • Management of ICT vendor services.
    • Development & Review of ICT Policy.
    • Implementing strategies for data base high availability and scalability and with project teams to ensure a smooth deployment of new services.
    • Develop and Communicate disaster mitigation and recovery plans in-case of system failure/malfunction in order to ensure business continuity.
    • Responsible for management, development and security of information and communication systems.
    • Evaluate and/or recommend purchases/disposal of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
    • Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability and reliability.
    • Undertake training needs analysis of ICT staff and users, conduct in-house and organize for external training
    • Supervise and appraise the System, Network Administrator [WAN/LAN], Information Security Officer and Webmaster.
    • Lead in implementation of all ICT projects in line with the ICT strategy and corporate strategy.

    Professional and Academic Qualifications

    • B.Sc. (Computer Science, Information Technology or related field),
    • Knowledge of Operation of ERP software, database system, Software development and Networking techniques
    • To be in possession of either of the following: CCNA/LINUX/LAN/WAN/CISSA /C[+] and MCSE Certification
    • Must be a member of related Professional Organization

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Not less than 5 years’ experience in an ICT management role
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
    • Strong customer relationship management skills
    • Collegiate working style with a strong management capability

    Finance Manager

    Overall purpose of the job

    Responsible for the overall financial affairs of the Society including financial reporting, cashflow management and developing strategies based on financial research and guiding CEO and the Central Management Committee in making sound financial business decisions in the long and short term.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    • Developing policies and strategies for the finance function
    • Ensure preparation of accurate management reports
    • To ensure that all projects are appraised, and project budgets are adhered to as provided.
    • Reviewing, monitoring and managing budgets
    • Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
    • Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company including solid internal control
    • Research and analyze financial reports and market trends
    • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
    • Advising and application of IFRS relevant to the society
    • Ensure all projects are appraised and project budgets are adhered to as provided
    • Ensuring value for money in project undertaken by the society
    • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings
    • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
    • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
    • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
    • Ensure proper management of cash flow
    • Analyze and review budgets and expenditures
    • In charge of cost control
    • Manage productive relations with suppliers, regulators, bankers, and auditors

    Academic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance option), Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Qualified Accountant (CPA (K), ACCA or Equivalent
    • Be a member of a professional body in good standing

    Knowledge and Skills

    • At least 5 years of Financial and Management Accounting experience
    • MUST have experience in External Auditing
    • Demonstrated professional competence and administrative capability
    • Strong Financial and Accounting knowledge
    • Financial analysis and reporting experience
    • Good knowledge of accounting software
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
