    Research Agronomist

    Job Description

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Shall plan, set up, execute and report on all trial and crop sciences activities in their activity areas
    • Shall ensure agronomic advisories and trainings are provided for promptly
    • Shall monitor progress of field crop science activities and field trials and send timely reports and updates
    • Shall assist other crop science teams in sourcing of trial sites and demonstration sites in activity regions
    • Shall ensure data is collected using SGS/ Client preferred ARMs and or in accordance to GEP/GLP when supporting Contract Research activities
    • Shall write and provide accurate scientific reports when needed
    • Shall be able to do scientific data analysis using preferred tools
    • Ensure sustainability practices and key performance indicators are met
    • Participate in assigned events to offer technical advice and to support the crop sciences team to achieve target objectives
    • Ensure that work carried out and workplaces under his/her control meet the requirements of the group minimum health, safety and environment standards and procedures
    • Ensure compliance to health, safety and environment procedures and policies for SGS and client
    • Conduct any other duty and assignment as may be assigned to him/her
    • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

    • Hold a minimum of Diploma in Soil Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, or any other agricultural related course.
    • Have at least 2 years working experience in field agronomy, conducting field trials and field research.
    • Must be competent in motor vehicle riding and have a valid riding license
    • Have a valid certificate of good conduct
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills – grassroot experience preferred.
    • Sensitive to set timelines and targets
    • Physically fit, hardworking, honest and performance driven
    • Must be computer literate
    • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and a team player.
    • Basic knowledge of HSE standards and riding competency are added advantages.

    Research Assistant

    Job Description

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Shall carry out agronomy research extension services within his or her area of jurisdiction as per the agreed number of visits and scope/ context of service provision
    • Shall ensure proper storage of seeds and other research inputs to ensure zero stock loss and variance
    • Conduct and report on seed germination testing according to provided guidelines
    • Ensure proper seed stock management through monthly stock takes and advise on re-orders.
    • Ensure proper seed packing distribution OTIF and application of FIFO as shall be guided
    • Conduct field trials as directed by client research specialists – demo set ups, trials set up, data collection, evaluation of results/data and reporting as per provided SOPs
    • Implement the design of training and research at demo plots to showcase good agronomic practices
    • Ensure establishment and maintenance of crops in the demo plot in time for desired trainings at all crop stages.
    • Ensure harvesting and post-harvest processes of the crop are done on demonstration plots according to provided SOPs
    • Implement plans and report on trials on barn designs, agrochemicals, fertilizers, seed varieties and alternative fuels
    • Be responsible for the safety of staff, contractors, visitors and other people under his/her control in the department
    • Ensure that work carried out and work places under his/her control meet the requirements of the group minimum health, safety and environment standards and procedures
    • Ensure compliance to health, safety and environment procedures and policies for SGS and client
    • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
    • Carry out any other assignment as may be advised from time to time.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

    • Have at least 1 year(s) working experience in field extension and or field agronomy.
    • Must be competent in motorcycle riding and have a valid motorcycle riding license
    • Must be computer literate

    • Basic knowledge of HSE standards is an added advantage.

    Leaf Growing Information and Control Administration Support, LGIC

    Job Description

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Shall review and check deliveries before issues are made to ensure they tally with original prints received and before issuance to farmers
    • Verification of farmer contracts and attachments before contracting
    • Timely processing in BAT Leaf all the approved Materials and Supplies, M&S receipts, issues, purchases, shipment, and returns
    • Ensure the purchases summary balance with farmer delivery and daily stocks receipt before running the tobacco payment.
    • Reconcile M&S stocks in BAT Leaf against leaf center physical report and prepare monthly returns
    • Ensure proper record keeping both electronic and paper as per BAT (K) records management policy
    • Timely running of tobacco purchases and farmer payments
    • Timely preparation of weekly purchases reports during the buying period
    • Ensure compliance to QHSE procedures and policies for the company and client’s
    • Conduct any other duty and assignment as may be assigned to him/her
    • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
    • Carry out any other assignment as may be advised from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Have at least 1 years working experience in data management
