    Support Staff III (8 Positions)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for the Support Staff Cadre. Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • Maintaining office cleanliness, Messengerial duties in the office assigned and undertaking any other duties that may be assigned to him/her.

    Requirements for Appointment 

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognised institution; and
    • Certificate in Computer Applications

    Others

    • Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 13,280 p.m - Ksh. 15,120 p.m. 
    • House Allowance: Ksh. 2,500 – 3,750 p.m.(Depending on duty station)
    • Commuter allowance: Ksh. 3,000
    • Leave allowance: Ksh. 4,000 (per annum)
    • Annual leave: 30 working days per financial year
    • Medical cover: As provided by the Government
    • Terms of Service: Temporary

    Clerical Officer (8 Positions)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for the Clerical Cadre. An officer at this level may be deployed in any of the following Unit/Sections: Human Resource   Management; General Registry; Supply Chain Management; Accounts or General Administrative Services. The officer will be required to carry out simple clerical duties under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer.

    Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • collecting statistical records
    • carrying out transactions related to accounts or personnel information
    • filing receipts; receiving, filing and dispatching correspondence
    • preparing Pay Change Advices (PCAs);
    • preparing initial documents for inssuance of stores; photocopying and scanning documents; indexing of documents and records; checking general office cleaning;
    • keeping safe custody of equipment, documents and records.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education ( KCSE) Mean Grade C- (Minus) or equivalent qualification; and
    • Certificate in computer application skills from a recogniszed institution.

    Others

    • Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.16,890  -  Ksh.20,800 p.m.
    • House Allowance: Ksh. 2,700 – 4,500 p.m.(Depending on duty station)
    • Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 3,000
    • Leave Allowance: Ksh. 4,000 (per annum)
    • Annual leave: 30 working days per financial year
    • Medical cover: As provided by the Government
    • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

    Driver II (10 Positions)

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    This is the entry grade into the Driver’s cadre.  Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving a motor vehicle as authorised; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems; maintenance of work tickets for vehicle assigned; ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

    Requirements for Appointment 

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Kenya certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognised institution;
    • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicles an officer is required to drive.
    • Attended a First- Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any recognised institution;
    • Passed Suitability Test for drivers grade III;
    • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department;
    • A valid certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
    • At least two (2) years driving experience.

    Others

    • Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.15,670 - Ksh.17,570p.m.
    • House Allowance: Ksh. 2,700 – 4,500 p.m.(Depending on duty station)
    • Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 3,000

    Principal Industrial Development Officer (9 Positions)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    • preparing sectoral reports on Tarrif and Non Tarrif Barriers (NTBs) for manufacturing Industry
    • linking of MSMIS to finace, markets, resource efficiency and cleaner production technology suppliers
    • research and development findings, quality assuarance and intellectual property protection
    • creating linkages for subcontracting among MSI and Medium and Large Industries
    • identifying potential foreign investors in specific industrial sectors; and disseminating industrial information to stake holders.

    In addidtion,

    duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • identifying and documenting indegeneous technologies and entrepreneurs
    • undertaking monitoring and evaluation on the implementation of industrial projects/programmes
    • undertaking benchmarking surveys and supporting the rehabilitation of industries
    • identifying, promoting and creating awareness on market opportunities for Kenyan Products
    • creating awareness on counterfeit goods in liason with Anti-Counterfeit Agency (ACA); and preparing Industrial Performance Reports to enhance productivity, competitiveness and quality of products.

    Requirements for Appointment 

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

    • Served in the grade of Senior Industrial Development Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years or a comparable position in public sector.
    • Bachelors’ Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Business Administration, Mathematics, Bilogical/Physical Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Statistics, Economics, Project Planning and Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Electronics, Mettallurgy, Aeronautical, Agriculture), Agriculture, Animal Sciences, Food Technology, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Textile Technology, Production Technology, Leather Sciences, Wood Sciences, Vetinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry; Biochchemistry or Computer Science from a recognized institution;
    • Certificate in any of the following fields; Project Planning, Project Appraisal, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Entrepreneurship, Public Policy Analysis, Small Enterprises Policy and Promotion, Environmental Impact Assessment and Auditing, Environmental Management or Business Development Services lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized Institution;
    • Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution
    • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized Institution; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in the work performance and results.
