    Public Communication Officer I - 2 Posts

    Requirements for Appointment:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a degree in Social Sciences with a Postgraduate Diploma in any of the following: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution
    • Possess strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
    • Demonstrate proficiency in information communication technology, including use of internet and intranet services
    • Show merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

    Duties and Responsibilities: -

    • Gather information on programmes and significant events, edit stories on topical issues in a specific sectoral area;
    • Develop public and media relations campaign strategies;
    • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain open communication with the management;
    • Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts etc.);
    • Prepare and distribute press releases;
    • Organize events and activities;
    • Track media coverage and follow news and information trends;
    • Prepare and submit monthly reports; and

    Requirements for Appointment: -

    • Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Possess excellent planning and organizational skills relevant to managing events, press briefings, and communication strategies
    • Proficiency in communication technologies, digital media, and computer applications relevant to the role, such as graphic design tools and social media management platforms

    Duties and Responsibilities: -

    • Writing and editing press releases, speeches, newsletters, and articles for public dissemination.
    • Tracking news coverage and public sentiment about government programs and initiatives.
    • Assisting in organizing press conferences, public forums, and official events.
    • Supporting communication between government agencies and the public, media, or other stakeholders.
    • Managing social media accounts and updating official websites with relevant content.
    • Assisting in building and maintaining a positive image of the institution or department.
