    Innovation Senior Manager

    The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, data-driven, detail-oriented individual with experience managing several projects and timelines at once and can balance the detail with the strategic objectives and thinking of the projects. The role will require some travel within Kenya and to Uganda.

    Responsibilities

      • Design projects – objectives, success factors, work plans, budgets, KPIs - and that can drive replicability, efficiency or greater health impact.
      • Project manage key innovation experiments - including coordination with field teams, partners, suppliers and other departments to ensure effective implementation.
      • Provide ongoing support during implementation, with keen attention to insights gained, challenges and rapid adjustments needed to ensure success.
      • Analyze data directly and review analytics on an ongoing basis, assessments and recommendations for ongoing improvement and/or roll out.
      • Coordinate preparation and submission of timely and high quality project narrative reports.
      • Develop insights and case studies on innovations to provide lessons learned from initiatives, which will inform future operations activities for Living Goods and partners.
      • Research and develop innovative new products for Living Goods portfolios in Kenya and Uganda

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 4-6 years of project management experience in emerging markets.
    • Strong analytics skills.
    • Strong communicator, able to work with multicultural teams.
    • Private sector experience in one of the following fields: consumer package goods, health delivery, pharmaceuticals, retail or direct selling/franchising, management consulting would be ideal.
    • Some understanding of M&E a bonus.
    • University degree required. MBA preferred.
    • Ability and comfort to be in the field 50% of time.

    Senior Manager, Regional Supply Chain

    Responsibilities And Requirements

    Strategic Growth

      • Develop and drive the supply chain strategy. Operationalize plans to ensure Living Goods has the right product mix and reliability of supply to support the growth plans in Kenya and Uganda, meet margin and sales goals, and to drive continuous process and systems improvements.
      • Support the expansion of the Living Goods model outside of direct operations. This may involve the designing and testing of new innovations, building a greater understanding of public supply chains and working with other partners to deliver.

    Logistics Operations

      • Working with the logistics team members and keeping in mind Living Goods’ scaling plans, continually assess and improve Living Goods’ logistics operations to be as efficient as possible, ensuring 90-100% in stock rates at targeted inventory turns, with minimal shrinkage.
      • Optimize central and where needed regional warehousing, identifying the ideal, size, location, and layout to cater for Living Goods’ growing inventory.
      • Oversee end to end inventory management including shrink monitoring, warehouse planning, and logistics across all Living Goods branches and warehouses to ensure efficiency, compliance, accurate reporting, and timely deliveries.
      • Ensure all inventory forecasting and distribution planning achieves 90-100% in stock rates with minimal off-plan deliveries and minimal expires.

    Procurement Operations

      • Build best in class processes to meet bi and multi-lateral funder requirements and minimize any potential for abuse and fraud in the procurement processes. Identify and monitor risks and proactively develop mitigation plans.
      • Oversee the performance management of preferred suppliers to ensure supply, service delivery, and pricing are as consistent and reliable as possible, including contracting where possible and appropriate.
      • Oversee all procurement negotiations and bidding processes. Ensure Living Goods benefits from the lowest cost of goods to meet our margin goals while maintaining compliance and efficiency.
      • Ensure product quality management processes are undertaken effectively, inclusive of scheduled lab tests and emergency recall response protocol for Living Goods products.

    Leadership

      • As a member of the Senior Management team (SMT), contribute to developing and delivering the overall organizational objectives and long-term vision by supporting other departments and contributing to overall strategic progress
      • Manage the procurement and logistics teams. Hire, manage and develop the team in Kenya and Uganda to meet organization and individual goals.

    Essential Qualifications, Experience & Attributes

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading the logistics or procurement functions in a company with over $5 million in sales.
    • Track record of delivering results in a fast paced environment.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles, along with forecasting and analyzing data and financial information.
    • Strong spreadsheet, budgeting and financial analysis skills. MS Excel expert; ERP/POS system experience ideal.
    • Exceptional influencing, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organization skills.
    • Solid project management experience. Certification a plus.
    • University degree in supply chain management, business administration or related course.
    • Willingness to travel across East Africa 30% of the time.
