    Market Development Manager

    Detailed Responsibilities

    Market development strategy

    • Seek to understand the potential new markets to which Envirofit could penetrate; and existing markets it could expand into
    • Define effective go-to-market strategies within the assigned territories
    • Define forecasts, plans and budgets in line with the defined go-to-market strategies
    • Critically evaluate and rank leads; to focus on those with high potential of closing

    Market development execution

    • Build strong a distribution network by appointing, training and guiding robust distributors within the assigned territories
    • Execute market development strategies in line with the organisation’s capacity to deliver
    • Manage the performance of the distributors in line with agreed KPIs, i.e. sales and market expansion targets
    • Drive profitability by achieving rolling bi-annual targets

    Collaborate

    • Align and define a joint go-to-market strategies with distributors based on their business models
    • Set-up distributors for success, i.e. provide marketing material, help recruit and train staff, attend conferences and trade shows they organised/are participating in, etc.
    • Attend major trade shows to understand the market better and obtain consumer feedback on the product
    • Collaborate and manage relationships with internal and external key stakeholders

    • Have a minimum of 10 years experience designing and executing sales and marketing initiatives in rural and semi-urban environments
    • Minimum of 5 years experience identifying, appointing and managing distributors outside Kenya
    • Proven experience in the rapid distribution and sale of push products, e.g. renewable energy
    • Have a bachelor’s degree
    • Have an appreciation for a start-up environment and ‘roll-up your sleeves’ attitude
    • Have strong project management, negotiation and interpersonal skills
    • A critical thinker, curious, persistent, challenges boundaries and delivery focussed

    Sales Director

    This role is suitable for an individual who enjoys experimenting with different sales strategies in a fluid environment. One will not only get to collaborate with but also learn from a high calibre team. The successful candidate an opportunity to give back to the community by providing clean energy solutions to communities.

     

     

     

    Detailed Responsibilities

    Sales strategy

    • Define the organisation’s overall sales strategy for existing as well as new territories and products

       

    • Define and manage the organisation’s sales forecasts, plans as well as budgets in line with the defined strategy

       

    • Obtain buy-in and drive the implementation of the defined strategy

       

    • Adapt - Make quick adjustments to establish a suitable strategy that results in continuous growth. The adjustments would be driven by changes brought about by the market, competition and legislation

    Team management

    • Build strong a team by recruiting, training and motivating a robust sales team
    • Identify the skills and abilities of your sales team in order to inspire, challenge and define appropriate individual career paths
    • Empower your team to achieve set targets, i.e.ensure they have the relevant resources and knowledge required
    • Manage the performance of the sales team in line with agreed KPIs, i.e. sales and market expansion targets

    Collaborate

    • Identify and build long lasting relationships with key partners/distributors
    • Collaborate and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders like the Marketing Director, Customer Care, After Sales Service teams and Head Office
    • Hold monthly and quarterly business review meetings with key partners/distributors in collaboration with the Market Development Manager
    • Prepare for and participate in management meetings, with the local team/Head Office, to define forecasts as well as provide updates on performance

    • Minimum 10 years in B2C sales
    • Proven experience across direct and indirect sales channels preferred
    • 2 - 3 years experience in the sale of push products, e.g. renewable energy and consumer durables / at least one similar experience instance
    • 3 - 5 years experience in the rapid growth environment, i.e. building a new business or product category
    • 5+ years in functional leadership
    • Appreciation for a start-up environment, ‘roll-up sleeves’ attitude, entrepreneurial and growth mindset
    • High emotional intelligence, challenges boundaries and delivery focused
    • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and project management skills
