    Business Development Manager, Custom Solutions, Executive Education

    Job Description

    REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

    Head, Customized programs

    JOB PURPOSE:

    To market and sell Executive Education Custom Solutions in liaison with the Head of Custom Solutions (tailor-made programs and consultancy solutions) while building and cultivating sustainable key relationships with potential public and commercial partners, nationally and regionally. The ideal candidate would need to have considerable experience in consultancy solutions, client advisory, proposal writing and presentation.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Sales
      • Consulting, assessing and proposing tailored solutions to meet clients’ unique needs, answer to upcoming trends and promote business success of clients,
      • Targeting new clients for business development and proposing new initiatives for existing clients, to increase sales opportunities and achieve personal and team financial targets,
      • Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, developing industry linkages to sustain SBS as their knowledge partner in transforming Africa leaders,
      • Presenting to and consulting with clients’ senior management on business trends with a view to developing effective custom solutions,
      • Continually devise ways to increase customer experience and deepen client/partner relationships and maintain lasting client and partner relationships,
    • Marketing
      • Analyzing and managing stakeholders to maintain a close engagement and relationship with the market,
      • Undertaking continuous business intelligence to understand client needs at organization, industry and country level to ensure proposal of relevant and timely executive education and consultancy solutions,
      • Tracking client satisfaction with frequent client review meetings and effective evaluation of programmes and consultancy engagements.
    • Operational Excellence
      • Supporting technical resource persons and key experts to ensure delivery of client promise and delivery of expected outcomes to the clients,
      • Initiating and driving the program design in liaison with Head of Custom Solutions, Academic directors, and programme management team. This includes designing coaching projects and other unique program features.
      • Preparing internal management reports and client reports as required, to support data-driven decision making for enhanced client relations and effective process improvement.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Masters’ Degree in a business related area; qualifications in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage,
    • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience in business development with proven experience in sales, managing client relations, key account management, direct experience in consultancy will be an added advantage,
    • Team player, with ability to work with different departments within the business school, faculty and executives in various programs,
    • Ability to guide senior business leaders in designing effective custom solutions which will achieve desirable business results,
    • Good research, planning and reporting skills,
    • Excellent business communication and etiquette skills with a flair for pitching,
    • Ability to analyze data from various sources including a thorough understanding of how business works and where opportunities lie.

    Communications Manager

    Job Description

    Reports to:  Director, University Relations

    Department: University Relations and Communications

    Basic job Summary:  Will be responsible for the development of strategic public relations and corporate communication strategies to enhance the University’s overall reputation as well as to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between Strathmore and its publics.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement the corporate communications strategy and ensure compliance to policies and procedures to support business performance.
    • Conceptualize, develop and execute internal and external communications projects that support realization of the University’s strategic and operational goals.
    • Develop and manage the University’s proactive and reactive media relations strategy including coordinating media relations by ensuring that the correct information is presented to and reported in media houses.
    • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis to ensure mutual benefit.
    • Oversee the development and execution of the Social media strategy to promote visibility of Strathmore University Programmes in the target markets. This will include sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
    • Oversee the production of University corporate publications to the expected standards including Annual report, graduation booklet, research reports, strategy reports etc by coordinating the generation of content and design work.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • Masters’ Degree preferably in a Communications or related.
    • Undergraduate degree in either marketing or communications.
    • Any certification  in design packages such as adobe suite is desirable will be an added advantage

    Experience:

    • 5 years in a busy Communications office with at least 2 years in a management position
    • Professional qualification in CIPR /CIM will be an added advantage
    • Experience in planning, executing and measuring effectiveness of communications programs and activities

    Responsibilities:

    • To develop and continually improve procedures, processes and protocols that ensure high quality, seamless and professional delivery of convocation and other ceremonies at Strathmore University.
    • To provide general and specific protocol advise as requested, and from time to time recommending development, or revision of, institutional policies and procedures on protocol.
    • To organize and take control of all aspects of the planning, organization and on the day management of specific University hosted events and conferences to ensure that the Strathmore brand is profiled correctly.
    • Drive continuous improvement on delivery of excellent events, including post-event follow-up.
    • Manage event-related facilities and bookings by identifying space requirements and liaising with the Administration Services Department and Schools to secure appropriate space.
    • Develop and implement a system for receiving feedback on convocation and other ceremonies, to continually improve events experiences at Strathmore University.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field with a bias in communication.
    • A Professional Qualification in Public Relations

    Experience:

    Managing Director, Strathmore Research and Consultancy Centre (Srcc)

    Job Description

    Reporting to:                                                          

    • SRCC Board of Directors
    • Strathmore University Management Board

    SRCC Limited is a private company limited by shares, fully owned by Strathmore University (SU) which exists for the purposes of aiding the University achieve its research and consultancy objectives as outlined in the University’s statutes.

    The Managing Director (MD) will work with the SRCC Board and the SU Management Board in formulation and implementation of SRCC’s strategy. In addition, the MD will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of SRCC.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the development of a strategy for SRCC, in partnership with the SRCC Board, that is aligned to the University’s key strategic objectives of enhancing student experience, research, enterprise and service to society.
    • Lead the implementation of SRCC’s strategy and manage all its activities and day-to-day operations.
    • Prepare and execute a business development plan for SRCC based on the strategy.
    • Support and grow the SRCC’s consulting portfolio based on the business development plan.
    • Prepare an annual budget and three years’ financial projections for SRCC.
    • Support the development of a board charter and relevant operational policies to guide the governance of the company. This will include board committees and their terms of reference.
    • Develop appropriate policies and structures to guide and facilitate the operations undertaken under SRCC.
    • Act as the Secretary of the Board of Directors and ensure quarterly board meetings are held to discuss the performance of the company.
    • Report the performance of the company to the SU Management Board twice a year or more frequently if requested.
    • Oversee and support the incorporation of subsidiaries and special purpose companies under SRCC to meet specific objectives of the SRCC and University.
    • To be the liaison between SRCC and various schools and centres of the University.

    Reporting: The position will be reporting to SRCC Board on a quarterly basis and to the SU Management Board at least every six months.

    Required qualifications and experience:

    • An MBA or a business-related Master’s Degree with 3 years’ experience in a strategic managerial position, or
    • A Bachelor’s degree in business or management with 5 years’ experience in a strategic managerial position

    Desirable qualifications and experience:

    • Business development experience in a startup or management consultancy
    • Experience of personally growing a business or business unit
    • Experience working in a research or academic setting
