    Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act (2006). It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody. It also oversees the coordination, supervision and development of programmes within the National Statistical System.

    Kenya National Bureau of Statistics invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals with excellent credentials to fill the following position:-

     

    Production Statistics Director

     

    Ref: KNBS/DPS/1/2018

    Terms of Employment: Five (5) Years Contract Renewable once

    Monthly Remuneration:

    Basic Salary – Kshs. 212,310 – Kshs. 290,000

    House allowance – Kshs. 60,000

    Commuter allowance: Kshs. 25,000

    Reporting to the Director General, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating all activities in the Production Statistics Directorate.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Overseeing preparation of concept papers and proposals;
    • Spearheading design, development and review of data collection instruments;
    • Ensuring and assuring on quality of data released;
    • Providing inputs into Monthly Leading Economic Indicators, Statistical Abstract and Economic Survey reports;
    • Monitoring statistical trends and dynamics;
    • Providing inputs for development of international standards and methods on compilation of data;
    • Formulating statistical indicators for monitoring economic performance;
    • Advising and monitoring on statistics produced by stakeholders;
    • Overseeing development and review of data quality assessment frameworks for production of statistics;
    • Providing inputs into design, development and review strategy for the National Statistical System;
    • Constituting and convening stakeholders technical committees on statistics;
    • Domesticating international standards and methods of statistics;
    • Training stakeholders on production of statistics;
    • Presenting and disseminating statistics;
    • Overseeing preparation of statistics reports;
    • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of budgets and policies;
    • Providing leadership in development of work plans for staff at all levels;
    • Ensuring adequate financial resources, human resources and assets necessary for the delivery of services;
    • Reporting on the performance of the Directorate;
    • Coordinating development of staff in line with both individual and institutional performance objectives;
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director General.

    Requirements

    • Must have at least ten (10 ) years working experience in Statistics, of which three (3) years should have been at the level of a Senior manager or equivalent position;
    • Must have a Bachelors degree in Statistics; Mathematics; Economics or any other equivalent disciplines from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Masters degree in Statistics; Mathematics; Economics or any other equivalent disciplines from a recognized institution.
    • Must have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Must be adept with appropriate computer skills;
    • Must have outstanding communication and motivation skills;
    • Must have working knowledge and experience in financial management with respect to planning and budgeting;
    • Must have analytical and human resource management skills;
    • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment;
    • Must meet the requirements of chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and submit the following documents:-
      • Tax Compliance Certificate from KRA
      • Certificate from CRB
      • A current Certificate of Good conduct from CID
      • Clearance Certificate from HELB
    • Clearance from EACC

    Statistical Coordination Director

    Reporting to the Director General, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating activities in the Statistical Coordination and Methods Directorate.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Coordinating, monitoring and supervising NSS programmes;
    • Undertaking research on specialized statistical areas and new areas of statistics methodology;
    • Promoting the use of best practices and methods in the production and dissemination of statistical information across the National Statistical System (NSS);
    • Establishing Statistical standards and assess the quality of statistics produced;
    • Harmonizing of national and international development indicators;
    • Designing, developing, updating and managing sampling frames;
    • Designing sample surveys and estimation procedures;
    • Maintaining statistical coordination and methods database(s);
    • Coordinating the operations of field services;
    • Generating development related indicators data; and
    • Preparing relevant Chapters in the Annual Economic Surveys and Statistical Abstract.
    • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of budgets and policies;
    • Providing leadership in development of work plans for staff at all levels;
    • Ensuring adequate financial resources, human resources and assets necessary for the delivery of services;
    • Reporting on the performance of the Directorate;

    Corporate Communications Senior Manager

    Job Responsibilities

    • Overseeing the interpretation and implementation of corporate communication policies, strategies and programmes;
    • Developing standards and regulations in the management of public communications functions;
    • Overseeing research conducted on public opinion and providing appropriate strategies to address issues raised;
    • Overseeing the initiation and maintenance of good relations with media practitioners and the publics;
    • Liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concerns;

    Requirements

    • Must have at least three (3 ) years working experience in the grade of manager, corporate communications or equivalent position;
    • Must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:- Corporate Communications; Mass Communication; Journalism, Public Relations or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Masters in any of the following disciplines:- Corporate Communications; Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Membership to Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) or any other related recognized body;
    • Must be adept with appropriate computer skills;
    • Must have outstanding communication and motivation skills;
    • Must have working knowledge and experience in financial management with respect to planning and budgeting;
    • Must have analytical, financial and human resource management skills;
    • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment;

    Human Rights Counselor

    Responsibilities

    • Implement policies and guidelines that supports the Commissions objectives on counseling;
    • Follow up counseling matters that need resolutions and write quarterly and annual reports;
    • Provide advice on counseling related matters and action required to management;
    • Carry out debriefing and referrals on issues of counseling;
    • Offer psychosocial support/counselling to petitioners and staff members as per the guidelines of the Complaints and Investigations department

    Job Qualifications

    • Diploma in counselling from a recognized institution
    • 2 year of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization
    • Excellent IT skills, with working knowledge for the various packages.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to build and lead cohesive teams.
    • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

    Gross Salary: Kshs. 100,250

    Job Responsibilities

    • Monitoring ICT desk delivery issues and undertaking day to day management of ICT platform.
    • Maintaining and updating the organizations’ ICT database systems
    • Monitoring LAN and WAN networks.
    • Ensuring smooth running of all ICT systems and providing user support on ICT hardware and network infrastructure.
    • Supporting roll out of new applications and hardware.
    • Undertaking frequent data back-up and installing security applications.
    • Configuring, maintaining and setting-up network devices;
    • Trouble shooting and resolving all ICT application issues.

    Qualifications

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:-

    • Served for a minimum period of one (1) year in a relevant position in a reputable organization;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Business Information Technology; Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Professional Certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Good knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
    • Good knowledge of Active Directory Services and management.
    • Good knowledge of relational database management
    • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
