Research Manager at KCB Bank Kenya

The Position:

Digital Financial Services is responsible for driving the Bank's Digital Strategy; Product and Business development of digital capabilities with new technologies to increase functionality, usage and transactions for NPI. Also responsible for driving the Bank's products and transactional services via digital technologies for both individuals and businesses (SME & Corporate). 

Responsible for providing guidance, analysis and support through data and market insights on new technology impacting financial services and to deliver real time insight into the market place and help focus on innovation and development process in the most relevant area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collecting, analyzing and interpreting primary and secondary research data.
• Owning competitive analysis and market insights for multiple product and services within financial services industry.
• Developing reports, presentations and marketing materials to support business & product development.
• Delivering audience insights and strategic recommendations to guide product strategy.
• Collaborating with cross-functional team, including developers, operations, business development, marketing, product management and engineering.
• Participate in research design, analysis and the presentation of data to uncover unique actionable insights about behavior, technology & financial services
• Define insightful hypotheses and identify methods to leverage KCB's large internal data sets to validate hypotheses and enhance 3rd party research work with proprietary data.
• Build meaningful cross-functional relationships and help activate our research to internal and external audiences (e.g., through industry conferences).
• Keen eye for and focus on impact and ability to prioritize research projects based on desired outcomes.
• Training and coaching team members.

The Person:

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following minimum requirements:

• University Degree preferably in Statistics. Post graduate degree and/or relevant Banking qualification will be an added advantage.
• Competencies and experience in the use of statistical programs such as SPSS is desirable
• Experience in the development and management of large data sets.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Research and Data Analytics
• 3 years' experience in Research Design, Hypothesis Testing, Data Analysis, Interpretation & Presentation covering the financial services industry.
• An appreciation of Risk Management and knowledge of Internal Controls.
• Team player with demonstrated work ethics; consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
• Effective prioritization skills to meet a complex set of business demands and demonstrate delivery against multiple objectives.
• Assertive, self-motivated with desire to succeed in a fast-paced, financial services environment.
• An outstanding ability to communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written).
