    Database Administrator

    Job Summary

    •  The Database Administrator oversees the full lifecycle of the Bank’s data platforms—including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Big Data, and Data Lakes. The role holder is responsible for database installation, configuration, health monitoring, performance tuning, access security, and backup/recovery strategies, working closely with application developers, IT operations, and business teams to ensure operational efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Architecture & Implementation: Define database physical structures, security specifications, and data modeling requirements; install new or revised systems; create database objects; and support data loads and migrations.
    • Performance Tuning & Maintenance: Monitor and optimize database performance through parameter adjustments, indexing, and tuning; implement new releases, patches, and upgrades; and design archiving and backup/recovery strategies.
    • Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous database security, access controls, PII data protection, and standardized naming conventions while ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
    • Backup & Recovery Management: Manage on-site backups, restoration, and recovery processes in coordination with off-site teams using platforms like RMAN and Commvault.
    • Collaboration & User Support: Partner with Data Architects and development teams to ensure efficient code interaction, assist in business case development, and provide end-user training and stakeholder assistance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
    • Mandatory certification: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or its equivalent.
    • Strongly recommended added certifications: MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, and Operating System (Unix/Linux/Windows) certifications.
    • Advanced knowledge of Database Security, PII Controls, and engineered systems like Exadata.

    Experience & Technical Competencies

    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator administering Oracle, MS SQL, and open-source databases in mixed OS environments (Unix, Linux, Windows).
    • Advanced Oracle DBA expertise in high-availability setups, including Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, and multitenant architectures.
    • Extensive proficiency in RMAN backup/restore procedures, Commvault backup technology, database performance tuning, and cloud migration strategies.
