Director- Sports at Kitui County

Terms of Service: Contract -Three Years (Renewable)

Requirements for Appointment

1. Be a Kenyan Citizen;
2. Have served for a minimum of ten (10) years in sports management three (3) of which must have been at the level of Deputy Director and above in the relevant/equivalent positions in the public service or private sector;
3. Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management/Physical Education or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
4. Have a Master’s degree in Sports Management/Physical Education or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
5. Demonstrate a track record and achievements in management of sports;
6. Be conversant with the legal framework governing sports management; and
7. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement a policy on sports management in the County;
2. Creation of awareness on sporting activities in the County including following up on implementation of related projects;
3. Offer advisory and counselling services to sportsmen and women;
4. Supervise sports personnel, coordinate and regulate workers in developing sports;
5. Upgrading of stadia and ward playgrounds in the County;
6. Develop, manage and implement sports programs in the County;
7. Promote and coordinate sports training and education;
8. Create platforms for athletes to showcase and market their talents;
9. Expand sports as an industry for sustainable livelohoods;
10. Develop and manage sports facilities;
11. Arbitratuin in sports disputes;
12. Certification and registration of sports clubs;
13. Identify,local talents and give recommendations to sports organizations/ institutes or specialized groups for absorption or funding;
14. Overseeing of elections for sports federations;
15. Overseeing the improvement and maintenance of sports facilities in the County;
16. Coordinate and promote ward, Sub County, inter-County and National sports programs and identify local talents and give recommendation to sports organizations/ institutions or specialized groups for absorption or funding; and
17. Any other duty as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Salary Scale: The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to the above positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
