    Programme Associate, Vulnerability Assessment & Mapping (VAM) SSA6 Re-Advertisement -

    JOB PURPOSE

    The incumbent will perform food and nutrition security and market data analyses and draft reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programs/projects. The work for this position will be done in close liaison with other outcomes and activities support teams, in the Kenya Country Office.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Design as well as develop and test databases for WFP Kenya VAM and Nutrition system in line with changing reporting requirements.
    • Continually advise and improve VAM and Nutrition tools and databases in line with new innovations and technology advancements.
    • Develop and continually update technical user manuals and documentation for database systems.
    • Compile data required for regular Country Office reports on prices, inflation, production, nutrition, specific food security monitoring indicators and other food and nutrition security related indicators. 

    OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Has worked with technical teams (i.e., VAM, Nutrition, M&E etc.)
    • Prior experience with a humanitarian organization or strong background in data analysis and statistical methods would be an added advantage
    • Proficiency with WFP corporate data collection, collation, analysis, and visualization tools (ODK, Kobo, ONA, SPSS, R, Stata, Tableau, machine learning)
    • Proficiency in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data relating to food and nutrition security, as well as markets
    • Experience in drafting high-quality food and nutrition security reports based on analytical findings and demonstrated oral presentation skills are essential
    • Demonstrated interest in markets, essential needs and food security assessments, M&E, and nutrition surveys / assessments.
    • Ability to plan and organize work; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other colleagues in the UN agencies, Government departments and communities of different national and cultural background.
    • Ability and readiness to travel and work under harsh conditions is an advantage.

    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: University degree in Statistics, Data science and machine learning or Economics.
    • Experience and skills: Six years experience with at least three years of progressively responsible job-related technical experience in database systems and analysis.
    • Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

    • Has worked with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
    • GIS Applications (ARC GIS etc.)
