    Regional Digital Communication Specialist

    Purpose

    • The Regional Digital Communications Specialist leads efforts to deliver compelling and engaging content (proactively and reactively) through the direct management of the regional social media channels and the website. 
    • The incumbent provides guidance and support to staff at all levels of the organization on social media use and produces reports on content performance, particularly at times of crisis and also identifies social media trends and apply them appropriately in-house, creating and adapting best practice accordingly. 

    Your Role

    • Develop and implement regional digital communication strategies that enhance the visibility and impact of the organization's humanitarian work across Africa;
    • Create, edit, and publish high-quality digital content, including feature stories, news articles, photo galleries, videos, social media posts, threads, GIFs, and other multimedia content optimized for web and social media platforms;
    • Manage official social media channels by publishing content, engaging online communities, responding to comments and direct messages, and maintaining a consistent brand voice;
    • Plan, execute, and evaluate integrated digital campaigns, defining objectives, target audiences, key performance indicators, and campaign metrics to maximize reach and engagement;
    • Develop and maintain editorial calendars for regional digital platforms, ensuring timely publication of content aligned with institutional priorities, global campaigns, and key humanitarian events;
    • Coordinate the production, review, validation, and publication of regional digital content in collaboration with headquarters, regional teams, and country delegations, ensuring compliance with editorial standards and institutional guidelines;
    • Provide technical and editorial guidance to delegations on content development, digital storytelling, web publishing, and social media best practices;
    • Develop and promote Information as Aid content, ensuring accessibility, relevance, and effective distribution across digital platforms;
    • Provide Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) guidance to improve content discoverability, search performance, and audience reach;
    • Monitor digital trends, audience behaviour, and platform performance using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Sprinklr, and other social listening platforms, and provide actionable recommendations;
    • Produce regular performance reports, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and recommend data-driven improvements to digital communication strategies;
    • Conduct continuous social listening to monitor conversations, identify emerging issues, detect reputational risks, and escalate significant online activity where appropriate;
    • Maintain the technical integrity and security of digital platforms, including website content, social media accounts, authentication protocols, and coordination of technical support with headquarters;
    • Design and deliver capacity-building initiatives by training and coaching colleagues and communication teams on digital communication strategies, social media management, content management systems, analytics tools, and digital design platforms.

    What we will look for in your profile

    • University education in communication or related field;
    • Minimum 6 – 9 years’ overall professional experience with 5 years' experience in digital communication;
    • Capacity to analyse the political and social environment;
    • Good knowledge of online design, content editing, social media monitoring and management tools (Asana, Canva, Sprinklr);
    • Very good knowledge of Drupal CMS and Google analytics;
    • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to communicate about technicalities to audiences in training settings;
    • Fluency in written and spoken English is a must; French or/and other languages is an added advantage.
