    Relationship Officer

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Cross sell of bank services & products (cash mgt., trade, treasury, overdrafts, loans, custody, asset based finance, insurance premium finance (proposed) to existing and new liability clientele.
    • Liaise with credit and trade finance back office to open LC and guarantees.
    • Liaise with branches and other customer units to resolve customer enquiries.
    • Acknowledge customer’s letters and forward instructions to relevant bank units for action.
    • Filing of customer related correspondences.
    • Negotiate rates for customers on foreign exchange transactions
    • Negotiate rates for customers on investments in fixed/call deposits and credit balances on current accounts.
    • Advise customers on their bank account positions.
    • Liaise with cash management and IT in supporting customers on usage of e-statements and quick pay products.
    • Provide management reports i.e. call reports, portfolio balances etc.

    • Corporate Competence: Working knowledge of the Bank’s products, the Bank’s Credit policy and CBK Prudential Guidelines.

    Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    Education And Competencies

    • University Degree preferably in Business related field such as Economics, Finance & Accounting from recognized institution by Commission for University Education. Credit Management, Accounting or Banking Qualification (AKIB)
    • CPA / ACCA qualification.
    • Certification in financial modelling
    • Certified Credit Executive (CCE) or equivalent

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in relationship Management and/or Minimum of 2 years in general banking operations.
    • Good track record of credit analysis and understanding of financial policies, procedures, and external regulations. Has demonstrated over the span of the career credit and financial analysis skills required to effectively perform credit analysis and portfolio maintenance activities/tasks in a manner that consistently achieves high-quality standards or benchmarks.
    • Demonstrated expertise and in-depth knowledge of the local banking industry, banking services, credit process, and banking products.
    • Evidenced knowledge and understanding of the current banking and financial services operating environment, trends, and practice, related regulatory and governance guidelines and requirements, and applicable laws

    Credit Analyst, Commercial Banking

    Principle Accountabilities

    Relationship Management

    • Provide the interface between business and credit.
    • Give quality feedback to the business teams on the quality of applications and the areas of improvement.
    • Support the Commercial Banking teams in serving their customers in a timely manner customer by giving prompt feedback.
    • Give business reports on loans processed and declined to help in decision-making.
    • Supporting RMs in packaging credit proposals to ensure clarity for faster approval and adoption.

    Credit Appraisals

    •  Appraising borrower information to determine ability to service loan for purposes of adherence to the lending policy. This is done through various analysis templates depending on limits and nature of income of borrowers. This includes but not limited to:
    • Identify loan product requested by the customer and the requirements.
    • Ensure the necessary KYC requirements have been adhered to, call backs on employment letters, statements etc. have been performed.
    • Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, through preparing spreadsheets and models.
    • Assess payment capacity
    • Assess collateral adequacy.
    • Review prevailing economic trends, and risk ratings, and applying the same in the appraisal process.
    • Bring out policy exceptions and breaches, recommend adequate Mitigants, and seek necessary approvals.

    Operations & Audits

    • Ensure compliance with all credit policy guidelines
    • Follow through with transactions to the end
    • Training teams one on one to reduce on back and forth
    • Develop various templates to guide the credit process
    • Handle audit queries emanating from the credit process
    • Monitor turnaround time on requests

     Income generation & Cost Containment

    • Supporting the RMs to achieve set income targets (Interest income and Non-interest income).
    • Ensure the correct charges are applied
    • Ensure all excesses are fully provided
    • Manage office costs within reasonable levels
    • Cross sell bank products
    • Push on products that deliver quick income

    Senior Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking

    Principle Accountabilities

     Acquisition: Business Development

    • To ensure growth of Commercial Banking portfolio (NFI, deposits and assets) through the acquisition of new to Bank customers and lead generation.
    • Actively generates referrals to all business partners in the bank to help meet the comprehensive financial needs of entrepreneurs or borrowing entity.
    • To ensure acquisition of customers to digital channels i.e. Internet Banking, WHIZZ and other platforms.
    • To effectively manage and expand the relationships with existing Commercial banking clients and bringing in new partnerships from existing portfolio so as to ensure business growth and continuity.

    Portfolio profitability (Cross-sell & Retention)

    • Grow Commercial Banking portfolio size (Product per customer, Non-funded income, deposits and assets) by deepening existing customer relationships
    •  Ensure a clear retention plan for overall portfolio deposits and loans for the segment, to execute this plan in conjunction with the Branch Managers.
    • Monitor account planning for all clients that will assist in advising on potential financial solutions based on identified needs
    • Assist in Resolving client queries in a timely and appropriate manner
    • Assist in collaborating with product specialists, to deliver effective customer solutions.
    • Ensure Fulfilment of minimum customer relationship touch points – e.g., 1 visit every quarter and 1 call and email a month depending on customer segment
    • Prepares and submits all reports may prepare management reports summarizing individual and team loan activity
    • Ensure all customers are on-boarded on a digital platform i.e. WHIZZ, Internet banking
    • Ensure Product Per Customer of 5 across the portfolio
    • To understand nature of businesses, their life-cycles and the various product offerings that can be given to the customer.
    • To evaluate credit proposals and ensure the credit applications process on a timely basis within the Bank’s set turnaround times.

    • Maintaining/ updating customer data on parameters such as Business turnover/ directors’ details etc.

    • To ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.

    Relationship Manager - Trade Finance

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Trade Finance deal origination, structuring, placement and portfolio management.
    • Growth and development of trade finance business in the assigned sectors.
    • Ensure adherence to the terms and conditions and actively monitoring the trade finance transactions.
    • Building and maintaining strong trade customer relationships through excellent customer service in order to achieve customer loyalty and maximize share of wallet.
    • Development and Support for Supply Chain Financing (SCF) within current clients’ ecosystems and sourcing of new clients for the SCF.

    • At least five (5) years’ experience in banking, with proven experience of at least two (2) years in a similar position or at least 3 years banking experience and sales/marketing background, where he/she managed a portfolio of SME or Commercial/Corporate Banking clients.
    • Experience in managing relationships that have significant Trade Finance exposure.
    • Experience in development and marketing of Trade Finance products.
