    Chief Human Capital & Administration Officer

    Job purpose   

    • The CHCAO will play a pivotal role in shaping AFC’s success by leading the HR and Administration functions with a strategic acumen and deep knowledge of HR practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic HR planning: Collaborating with the executive team to align HR strategies with the organization’s overall business objectives. Developing and implementing HR plans and initiatives to support the corporation’s growth and productivity.
    • Talent Acquisition; Overseeing the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the organization attracts and hires optimal talent. This involves developing recruitment strategies, conducting interviews for all positions, and working with line managers to assess staffing needs.

    Person Specification

    • Minimum period of twelve (12) relevant work experience, three (3) years of which must have been in at least the grade of Deputy Director or comparable position.
    • Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Business Management, Human Resource Management, sociology or related field from a recognized Institution.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines Business Management, Human Resource Management, sociology or related field from a recognized Institution.
    • Higher Diploma in HRM OR CHRP (K) qualification.
    • Full member of IHRM in good standing.
    • A valid Practicing License from IHRM.

    Head of Legal Services

    Job Purpose:

    • To deputize the Corporation Secretary in managing the legal function, with particular focus on supervising principal officers and ensuring seamless delivery of legal services across all organizational units.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the legal department and coordinate workflow among principal officers.
    • Review and quality-assure all legal opinions, contracts, and pleadings before submission to the Director.
    • Represent the organization in appellate court matters and complex alternative dispute resolution processes.

    Legal Officer- 4 positions

    Job Purpose

    • This is the entry level for degree holders with a Postgraduate Diploma in Law into this cadre. An officer at this level works under the guidance of the Manager Legal Services and Senior Legal Officer. The officer is responsible for providing legal services, advice, and support to the Corporation; preparing and reviewing legal documents; representing the Corporation in assigned legal proceedings; supporting litigation, conveyancing, contractual, and loan-related legal matters; and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to protect the Corporation’s legal interests.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Advising the Corporation on all legal matters that may arise in its operations;
    • Representing the Corporation in court, tribunals, and other dispute resolution forums in assigned matters and attend court proceedings, mentions, hearings, and rulings as required.
    • Preparing, reviewing and filing of pleadings and other legal documents on behalf of the Corporation in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and procedures.
    • Liaising with external advocates handling legal matters on behalf of the Corporation on all matters filed against the Corporation with a view to ensuring effective communication, coordination, and timely management of assigned legal matters.

    Legal Assistant- 3 positions

    Job purpose

    • This is the entry level for degree holders without postgraduate diploma in law or diploma holders into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of the Legal Officer/Senior. This officer may be deployed to the following functional unit, Litigation, Conveyancing and security documentation, Contract and Lease Management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintaining physical and electronic filing systems for legal documents, including court files, contracts, correspondence, and other legal records to ensure proper storage and easy retrieval.
    • Assisting in preparation, compiling, and filing court documents, including pleadings, notices, affidavits, and other legal documents under the guidance of senior legal officers.

    Corporation Secretary / Chief Legal Officer

    Job Purpose:

    • To provide strategic legal leadership and governance oversight, ensuring full compliance with constitutional provisions, government regulations, and Mwongozo principles while safeguarding the legal interests of the organization.

    Responsibilities 

    Board Secretarial Duties:

    • Provide Secretarial Services to the Board and its Committees;
    • Facilitation, development and implementation of the Board Induction and Capacity Building programmes;
    • Prepare and manage Board Work Plans;
    • Facilitate Annual Board Evolution;
    • Initiate the development and implementation of the Board Charters, Terms of Reference and the Code Conduct and Ethics.
