    Expos Assistant Officer

    Job Purpose:

    To support KAM consulting unit to organize and manage KAM Expos and market development events which include mobilizing exhibitors, participants and sponsors of the KAM Expos with expected outcomes as follows:-

    Key Objectives

    • Ensure an average target number of visitors attend the events.
    • Ensure targeted number of exhibitors display their products or services during the expos;
    • Support revenue generation through sale of exhibition booths and mobilization of sponsors

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Promote locally manufactured goods in Kenya to all relevant stakeholders;
    • Conduct and coordinate mini expos in the regions/chapters
    • Sell exhibition booths to KAM members to showcase their products;
    • Recruit exhibition sponsors in cash or in kind to fund expo activities;
    • Liaise with different procurement and finance office for efficient utilization of funds;
    • Liaise with communications team and develop and execute an event publicity/media engagement strategy;
    • Liaise with various suppliers to drive experiential marketing at the events for maximum stakeholder engagement e.g. launches, fashion shows, entertainment, etc;
    • Enhance the Sales Bonanza strategy to ensure value for money to KAM members;
    • Organize B2B matchmaking opportunities to enhance linkages for KAM members;
    • Liaise with BMOs and chambers of commerce to increase participation in Expos;
    • Debt management for the Expo attendants to ensure all obligations are met;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive

    Requirements and Personal Attributes:

    • A degree in either of the following; Marketing or Business Development or any other relevant degree,
    • Advanced training or experience in Sales or Marketing fields an added advantage
    • At least 3 years relevant work experience in a comparable work environment.
    • Effective organizational skills, team player, keen attentive to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Good knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
    • Excellent relationship management and networking skills
    • Excellent Marketing and presentation skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledgeable of the industrial sector in Kenya.

    Legal Intern

    To offer the intern opportunity to gain practical experience while supporting the Kenya Association of Manufacturers’ legal and regulatory section in discharging their mandate and in supporting in legal matters of interest to KAM members

    Key Objectives:

    • Support the legal and regulatory advocacy and research objectives of KAM.
    • Support the legal affairs of the organization and provision of legal advice.
    • Support management of information and record keeping.
    • Attend engagements on behalf of the team and the organization.
    • Timely and accurate drafts on correspondences and legal opinions

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Your specific duties during internship will include and not limited to the following:

    • Development of legal research, advisories, memorandums and documents necessary to support legal advocacy work.
    • Handling Constitutional and regulatory issues affecting members;
    • Review policies and legislations and draft correspondences, legal opinions and regulatory advocacy position papers;
    • Support establishment of Legislation tracking system.
    • Support on the drafting and review of Contracts, MOUs and partnership agreements and maintaining a tracking system for the same.
    • Monitor and keep track of all documents and records on legal issues relating to KAM;
    • Support KAM Committees/Sectors as assigned.
    • Advising members on legal and regulatory requirements affecting their businesses touching on county, national and international issues
    • Assist in advising on organizational compliance of KAM.
    • To assist in preparation of PRAU unit seminars and workshops.
    • Assist in legal and regulatory research work and engage Governments on proposals that benefit the manufacturing sector.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Policy Research and Advocacy Unit.

    Requirements:

    • Hold a Bachelor of Law degree and must have attended the Kenya School of Law.
    • Demonstrate good knowledge and keen interest of the law and willingness to learn.
    • Ability to offer credible support on matters requiring due diligence and attention to detail.
    • Ability to review and interpret the law and draft position papers.
    • Ability to multi-task and get things done to completion effectively.
    • Knowledge on project management will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent communication and writing skills.
    • Have good organizational skills, be a team player and possess keen attention to detail.

    Sectors Assistant Officer

    Job Purpose

    To support the Kenya Association of Manufacturers’ Sectors in developing and implementing programmes and activities within the following themes:

    • Assist in coordination and support for the advancement of the goals of KAM’s Industrial Sectors work
    • Support implementation of the Manufacturing Sectors functions.
    • Provide account management for sectors assigned.
    • Implement administrative activities required to ensure sectors operations are effectively carried out.
    • Effective Information dissemination to members
    • Timely and accurate reports

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Your specific duties during internship will include and not limited to the following:

    • Champion KAM initiatives on membership recruitment, development and retention to build and sustain vibrant KAM industrial sectors.
    • Perform administrative functions for key industrial sectors, organize sectors activities and offer secretariat services to the sectors members.
    • Support in development and updating of Industrial sector profiles.
    • Assist to address Members’ advocacy issues from the sectors by supporting engagements with relevant government agencies, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
    • Participate in development and implementation of strategies to nurture the sectors and sub-sectors.
    • Support in resources mobilization to facilitate Sectors related work.
    • Monitor and evaluate effective execution of Sectors activities.
    • Assist in the publishing and circulating Sectors newsletters and relevant information to members.
    • Support effective account management of sectors members.
    • Participate in Database Development, updating and maintenance for key contacts for sectors to enhance KAM services and network.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO from time to time

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as in Business, Commerce, Economics, Social Sciences,Environmental science or any other relevant field.
    • At least two(2) years’ relevant experience in a busy business advocacy organization or relevant organisation engaging in public policy matters.
    • Experience in private sector and/or government engagements.
    • A good understanding of government and regulatory framework governing industry.
    • Excellent project management and administrative skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of industrial Sectors in Kenya and willingness to learn on global trends.
    • Results focused,innovative,excellent communication and presentation skills. Fundraising skills will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent relationship management and networking skills with ability to effectively mobilize diverse stakeholders and coordinate them towards common goals.
    • Have good organizational skills, be a team player and possess keen attention to detail

    HR Intern

    Internship Purpose:

    To enable the intern gain on-the-job HR and administration skills while supporting the HR team in delivering administrative and HR services at KAM.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Human Resources Intern will be assigned tasks to support the HR section as follows;

    • Support generation of routine reports especially on implementation and tracking of HR processes and practices –Trainings, policy compliance, staff facilitations, leave tracking etc;
    • Assist the HR function in basic recruitment processes and related desk work;
    • Support the HRM in employees inductions for effective staff placement;
    • Support in maintenance of employee information by entering and updating employment and status-changes database as may be assigned;
    • Support in coordinating staff engagement / motivation initiatives and welfare activities;
    • Assist in maintenance of the HR basic filing system as may be assigned;
    • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing HR and Administration results as required;
    • Perform other HR services tasks as may be assigned by supervisor or the CEO.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a degree in relevant field with a Diploma in HR Management;
    • Professional affiliation would be an added advantage;
    • Fair knowledge of HR administration processes and best practices is critical;
    • Person of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality;
    • Ability to multi-task and get things done to a good conclusion;
    • Excellent planning, organizational skills and good reporting skills;
    • Excellent Interpersonal skills with passion for staff wellbeing /services
    • Ability to learn with keen attention to detail and willingness to learn;
