    Officer Payments

    Reporting To: Manager Payments

    Overall Job Purpose

    Responsible for back office processing of loans and general items from branches and Head Office departments

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Timely and accurately processing of loan and insurance premiums disbursements.
    • Prompt closure of loan account as per written instructions from Credit Operations department.
    • Prompt and accurately marking of overdraft limits on customers’ accounts.
    • Prompt processing of internal transfers affecting mortgage accounts and savings accounts
    • Prompt adjustment of loan interest rates, term and conversions as per written instructions from Credit Operations department.
    • Processing of EFTs that are remitted directly through our banks accounts in Citibank, Equity, Standard Chartered and Barclays Bank
    • Processing of standing orders, bulk payments and salaries.
    • Remittance of tax, revenue stamp collections and withholding tax to Kenya Revenue Authority [KRA]
    • Processing all journal vouchers and invoices as per instructions received from HF Group
    • Reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts for the unit.
    • Ensuring adherence to Bank’s operating policies, procedures and risk management guidelines.
    • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Responding to inquiries/complaints/issues effectively and in a timely manner
    • Performing other duties as may be assigned

    Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A business related degree from a reputable institution
    • At least one (1) year experience in banking operations  

    Key Competencies and Skills

    • Computer/IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word; Excel; etc.
    • In-depth understanding of banking operations products, policies and procedures.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and projects a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead and work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints effectively and timely.
    • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organization, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic analytical ability with active listening skills.
    • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail; must have eye for details, strong ability to scrutinize and examine.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.

    Digital Collections Agent (Contract)

    Reporting To: Team Leader Digital Collections Team 

    Overall Job Purpose

    Responsible for collection of Digital loans from overdue accounts. The role holder contact the customers whose loans are past their repayment due date for payment plans and to recover the amount owed to the bank

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts.
    • Plan course of action to recover outstanding payments.
    • Contact debtors to inquire of their payment status.
    • Negotiate payoff deadlines or payment plans.
    • Handle questions or complaints regarding the digital loans.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies together with the Team Leader.
    • Create trust relationships with debtors when possible to avoid any future challenges
    • Update account status regularly.
    • Keep superiors updated of debtors unwilling or unable to pay when necessary.
    • Participate in team meetings and huddles for improvements in the team process and tasks

    Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A business related degree
    • At least 1year work experience in a bank or financial services institution in a similar role.

    Key Competencies and Skills

    • Experience in working with targets and tight deadlines.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases.
    • Excellent communication and people skills.
    • Apt in negotiating and persuading.
    • Ability to be courteous and compassionate without lacking confidence.
    • Proven experience as debt collector will be an added advantage.

    Recoveries Officer

    Reporting To: Head of Debt Management

    Overall Job Purpose

    The Recoveries Officer will be responsible for management, review, monitoring and implementation of recoveries action plans and strategies on assigned non-performing portfolio to maximise loan recoveries through direct recoveries, viable restructuring, negotiating workouts or realization of securities.

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Manage debt portfolio through constant customer engagement via emails, telephone calls and prompt issuances of demands and notices to ensure timely recovery and prevent deterioration of loan arrears in order to maximize recoveries, reduce provisions and reduce ultimate losses and costs to the Bank.
    • Diligently review each account in the assigned portfolio against provided parameters and profile portfolio to facilitate prioritization of follow up and remedial product offerings. 
    • Evaluate, negotiate, recommend, implement and monitor work out and recovery strategies approved by the bank management, including legal action, debt settlements and disposal of securities at the best realizable values through private sale and public auction.
    • For cases in court, ensuring the relevant evidence in support of the Bank’s cases is properly documented and shared with the key stakeholders in good time, ahead of court appearances. Representing the Bank as a witness as and when required.
    • Liaising with various stakeholders to ensure receipt of progress reports and enable realization of recovery targets and ultimately to enhance the good book

    Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A business related degree from a reputable
    • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a bank or financial services institution in a similar role.

    Key Competencies and Skills

    • Excellent negotiation skills.
    • Legislative knowledge.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Good understanding of the Bank’s processes and procedures.
    • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated good planning and organisation skills.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Must be a team player and have integrity.
