    Procurement Officer

    Main Purpose: A Procurement Officer helps a procurement professional to ensure that a business has a constant supply of materials or equipment. They work primarily in an administrative capacity, doing tasks such as scheduling material purchases and deliveries and verifying current inventory.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Coordination of Procurement Processes Receive all incoming requisitions and co-ordinate the flow in an effective and efficient manner using the laid down procedures.

    Physiotherapist

    Main Purpose: To provide comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients and other customers as requested.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Work with patients who have a range of conditions, including neurological, neuromusculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory, sometimes over a period of weeks;
    • Diagnose, assess and treat their physical problem/condition;

    Laboratory Managers

    2 Positions

    Location: Kisii, Homa Bay

    General Description: The Laboratory Manager has the overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities to ensure everything is run with the highest level of integrity, safety and in an efficient manner.

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

    • Plan, assign, and direct work in the laboratory; Serve as liaison with other areas as required.
    • Oversee staffing of all personnel in the laboratory; effectively maintain quality staffing by participating in interviews, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
    • Mentor and support direct supervisees, i.e. QA Specialists and section heads in their responsibilities and functions, ensuring they receive training in supervisory skill development; Identify and implement training programs as necessary.
    • Define, coordinate, and monitor quality assurance programs and supervise activities of the Quality Assurance Specialist; Ensure quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date. Oversee plans and preparations for inspections.
    • Review test performance, drive process and project management, and prepare and submit required reports to meet established deadlines.
    • Identify future laboratory needs in terms of staff, equipment, reagents and submit appropriate documentation for procurement of such.
    • Define, implement, and monitor the accepted standards of performance in quality control, quality assurance, and cost-effectiveness of the laboratory service as well as the actual delivery of those services.
    • Relate and function effectively with applicable accreditation and regulatory agencies, the medical community, and the patient population served.
    • Manage test database. Ensure departmental standard operating procedures and database accurately reflects the current processes.
    • Develop the laboratory annual budget and manage departmental costs and resources to adhere to the budget.
    • Resolve all departmental issues through proactive interactions with the laboratory stakeholders.

    Job Requirements

    • A degree/ Higher diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
    • Generalist laboratory background with a minimum of 4 years’ experience.
    • Registered by the KMLTTB

    Administrators

    Location: Keroka, Busia

    Main Purpose: The Administrator is accountable for provision of expert management services to the (medical, dental, physiotherapy, etc.) practice. These services are predominantly those of financial management and staff management.

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

    The Administrator will be accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for:

    • The performance of staff other than practitioners

    Housekeepers

    Location: Keroka, Busia

     

    General Description: Reporting to the House Keeping Supervisor, the House Keeper job exists to provide laundry services including operating washing or dry-cleaning machines to clean, dry, press and fold cloth-ware at the Hospital.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to

    • Do daily cleaning of floors.
    • Receive or collect used up linen for cleaning and record or classify it according to its sources from different wards and units of the hospital.
    • Sort and classify and mark or tag dirty linen according to its source in the hospital, type, color and maintenance specifications for laundering in the hospital.
    • Determine spotting procedures and proper solvents, detergents and other cleaning materials based on fabric and stain types in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Pre-soak, sterilize, scrub, spot-clean, and dry contaminated or stained articles, using neutralizer solutions and portable machines in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Spray steam, water, or air over spots to flush out chemicals, dry material, raise naps, or brighten colors of garments in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Load dry-cleanable garments into washers or dry-cleaning machines, add detergents and other washing materials and start the washing process in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Use other cleaning procedures to clean and dry non-dry-cleanable linen in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Operate machines that comb, dry and polish furs, clean, sterilize and fluff feathers and blankets, or roll and package towels in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Remove items from washers or dry-cleaning machines and dry them on cloth lines to reduce excessive moisture in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Collect cleaned and dried up linen, sort, press and pack according to its source and type, from different wards and units in the hospital.
    • Perform other special or peculiar garment maintenance or garment care according to need or manufacturers’ specifications in the laundry unit of the hospital.
    • Liaise with the tailors and dressmakers to repair and mend torn or replace missing parts of garments during and after laundering in the laundry unit of the hospital.

    Job Requirements

    • Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry services.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the organizations image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.
    • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing /communications /public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
    • Work with the organizational leadership to create marketing programs that showcase the organizations strengths and reaches target audiences.
    • Take the lead in developing opportunities for the organization with trade and other media to positively influence the organizations reputation. This includes attending public relation events and trade shows.
    • Responsible for all organizational marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations and press release.
    • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all organization publications.
    • Ensure that the organization regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversees this activity. Monitor trends.
    • Provide hands-on support to the leadership team for new business pitches, assisting with areas from ideation to presentation development.

    Medical Officers

    (2 Positions)

    Location: Keroka, Busia

    Main Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing consultancy and quality clinical judgment to patients.

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

    • Manage the OPD / Emergency / Ward and assist the consultants
    • Initiate and monitor treatment;
    • Conduct medical procedure under supervision after getting the consent from the patient’s attendant.
    • Accompany consultant doctors on IPD Ward visits
    • In the absence of the Consultant – Pay timely visits to In – patients and treat the patients along the indicated line of treatment
    • Attend emergencies and inform consultant doctors for further action.
    • Check and authorize all diagnostic requisition slips.
    • Ensure that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that prioritizes the safety and well-being of patients;
    • Assess patients on admission and/or discharge as required and write detailed reports in the case notes;
    • Consultations should not only be limited to actions beyond their scope, but also in uncertain situations as well as where extra assistance would improve performance
    • Mentorship & supervision of clinical attachees
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests;
    • Providing information regarding the patient’s condition to his/her attendant whenever required.
    • Attend clinics and participate in relevant meetings, case conferences and ward rounds; followed by documentation of findings on each patients’ chart; follow through with actions arising from the round;
    • Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical audit and proactive risk management and facilitate production of all data / information for same; co-operate with investigations, enquiries or audit relating to the provision of health services;
    • Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality and ethics; abide by the Kenyan Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
    • Seek advice and assistance from the consultant / clinical director / employer with any assigned cases or issues that prove to be beyond the scope of his / her professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance;
    • Cover for occasional unplanned absence of colleagues;
    • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in Medicine from a recognized University
    • More than two years working experience.
    • Must be Registered / Licensed by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
    • Competency and certification in emergency procedures e.g. ACLS, BLS, ATLS etc. will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent public relations and communication skills
    • General competencies in Obstetrics, Pediatrics, medical, surgical, Outpatient care.
    • Must have a professional Indemnity insurance.

    Clinical Officers

    General Description: Attending to clients both on clinical matters like diagnosis amongst others.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Attend to the outpatients in the O.P Department, Wards and Casualty as the case may be and prescribe necessary medicines as available in stock and the required investigations.
    • Whenever necessary, with the approval of the Director of Clinical Services, carry out investigations and prescribe non-stock drugs.

    • Mentorship and supervision of clinical interns.

    • Communicate effectively with patients and clients.
    • Ensure that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that prioritizes the safety and well-being of patients.
    • Represent the department /profession/team at meetings and conferences as appropriate.
    • Seek advice and assistance from the consultant/clinical director/employer with any assigned cases or issues that prove to be beyond the scope and professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance.

    Job Requirements

    • Diploma in Medicine and surgery.
    • Registered by clinical officers’ council.
    • At least 2 years’ experience.

    Receptionists

    Location: Keroka, Busia

    General Description

    • Receive, assist and direct patient in accessing the appropriate service or health care professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
    • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to

    • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the facility.
    • Acknowledge patient’s arrival at the desk within 2-3 minutes of arriving.
    • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make follow-up appointments.
    • Be aware of your surroundings and of patients in the waiting room: be in a position where you are able to note which client has not be served and direct them to the offices they need to visit.
    • Be aware of which doctors and nurses are currently on duty and whether they have arrived. If the doctor has not arrived, call him/her and inform they are on duty and clients are waiting for them
    • Receive and make telephone calls as required. Phone must be answered within 6 rings and no more. Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Be polite and helpful at all times. If the patient’s behavior becomes unacceptably abusive refer the call to your supervisor. Don’t ever shout or respond in a rude manner to the patient.
    • Advice patients of relevant charges for relevant medical services, show direction to the next station that the client would wish to be served.
    • Ensure that all patients’ information is registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
    • It is the responsibility of the receptionist to ensure that client on the Outpatient register are transferred to the Inpatient register before close of business each day.
    • It is the responsibility of the receptionist to ensure that preauthorization are filled and ensure communication is made to insurance companies for pre-authorization and discharge of patients, immediately you are in receipt of either an inpatient insurance covered clients preauthorization or a discharge summary.

    General Description: Reporting to the Administrator, the successful candidate will help in running the day to day operations of the Pharmacy in line with the professional practice, regulations and laws of the land.     Laboratory Technologist

    (2 Positions)

    Location: Keroka, Busia

    General Description: Reporting to the Hospital Administrator, the successful candidate will help in running the laboratory on a daily basis.

    Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

    • Collect blood samples from patients.
    • Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
    • Label vials with patient names and dates.
    • Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
    • Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in.
    • Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status.
    • Machines: it is the responsibility of the Lab Tech to run Quality control for all machines and reagents before any tests have been done to ensure validity and correctness of results.
    • It is the responsibility of the Lab Tech to ensure confidentiality of all patients’ results at all times. The responsible lab tech will be held liable in cases of patients test results leaked to third parties.

    Job Requirements

    • A degree/diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
    • Registration and Licensed by K.M.L.T.T.B
    • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
    • Ability to analyze and evaluate data critically.
    • Ability to prepare and keep budgets.
    • MUST be Computer literate.
