    Deputy Director of Agriculture

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • An Officer at this level will be answerable to the Director of Agriculture to coordinate All Agricultural services in the directorate. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:
    • Deputize the Director of Agriculture;
    • Coordinate training programs for the staff in liaison with other stakeholders;
    • Undertake target setting and performance standards for the Directorate;
    • Participate in managing information related to agricultural sector within the County;
    • Promote research and innovation in agriculture sector, carry out monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects; and
    • Ensure sustainable and sufficient production of food and promotion of private sector participation in agricultural development. 

    Requirements for Appointment: -

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;

    • Have served in the grade of Assistant Director of Agriculture, Job Group CPSB 05/‘P’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;

    Assistant Director of Agriculture

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • An officer at this level will be deployed at the County headquarters or principal at Agricultural Technical College. Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-
    • Subject matter specialist responsible for extension, research liaison and training;
    • Handling technical administrative human resource budgetary and assets management issues;
    • Addressing stakeholders concerns and instituting operational accountability;
    • Participating in the formulation, development , implementation, monitoring and review of policies, laws and strategies in the agricultural sector; and

    An Officer at this level will be deployed as a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) in a Sub County or to head a Sub County. Specific duties as a Sub County as a Sub County SMS will entail: -

    Chief Veterinary Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;
    • Disseminating data/information on animal health, products and markets;
    • Collaborating with stakeholders in providing veterinary services;
    • Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;
