Job Summary
Reporting to the DVC, Student Life, the job holder will Support transition of students by securing careers and placement opportunities; assist in sourcing for employment/ internship/ volunteer opportunities for alumni; assist in providing professional and responsive career services to students, employers and alumni.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Outreach
- Assist with the development of creative initiatives for marketing and promoting students and alumni to employers.
- Assist in organizing recruitment drives and annual Career Fair.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining contact with graduates and alumni to mentor current students and cultivate new employers.
- Compile and profile a comprehensive list of all graduate students highlighting employment progress and success stories.
- Identify diverse placement opportunities and work with students to access placement.
- Market the department services and programs to the USIU-Africa community.
Career Advising, Training and Placement
- To manage all aspects of the placement process including guiding, assisting and advising students, to recognize their skills and job requirements and to communicate with organizations providing placement opportunities.
- Provide individual/group CV and cover letter review and assistance.
- Coach students in exploring their careers and developing short and long term job seeking strategies/career plans.
- Coordinate seminars/workshops on Career Development for both employment and self-employment.
- Organize and run pre-placement sessions for outgoing students and debriefings for returning students through discussion, consideration and evaluation of personal and professional development through placement.
- Deliver presentations to scholars during pre-University orientation and organized workshops.
Research
- Assist in surveying employers, students and reviewing periodicals to determine up to date topics of interest and trends in the market.
- Assist in identifying topics for research and collaborative opportunities to learn more about the industry and students.
- Conduct research and disseminate information on Jobs/internships/volunteer opportunities available for different majors to students through regular email updates.
Partnership Development
- Build and maintain partnerships with current and potential employers.
Job Specifications:
Minimum Educational Qualifications and professional Experience
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent.
- Relevant Served as Career & Placement Officer for a minimum of 3 years.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Previous experience of customer/client contact especially establishing and developing effective links with companies in the relevant discipline/field.
- Experience of facilitating/negotiating with a range of people.
- Liaison with and experience of industry including the role of placement students within organizations.
- Experience of Higher Education and the student learning experience.
- Experience of working with young adults.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Registrar, the Records Officer will be responsible for managing records within the Registrar’s Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for timely and accurate graduation applications processing.
- Assist in the Organization of the graduation petition paperwork and proper oversight of the collection processes to ensure accurate graduation lists.
- Assist in Compiling and verifying final course requirements based on degree requirements and exception approvals.
- Assist in Managing the programming of current requirements into the computerized degree audit system. This includes ensuring accuracy, readability, and training for end -users.
- Key in changes of students’ major, minor, concentration and course substitutions for record keeping and accuracy.
- Perform online clearance for prospective graduands.
- Prepare, coordinate and oversee graduation line up, seating arrangement and attendance at commencement.
- Register new and continuing students every semester for accuracy of records.
- Assist in communication with other departments involved in the graduation and records functions to resolve problems, facilitate processes, and ensure completeness of student academic records.
- Assist in issuing graduation attire as well as keying in of gown issuance contacts in student accounts.
- Issuance of degree certificates to students.
- Post the degree on the students’ transcripts to confirm completion of studies.
- Assists in the establishment and implementation of Registrar’s Office policies and ensure compliance with established practices.
- Generate and prepare reports as required from time to time.
- Provides general office and back-up coverage for services as assigned by the Registrar.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Records Officer, the records Assistant will be responsible for managing records within the registrar’s office.
Key Responsibilities
- Tasked with receiving files from admission’s office for newly admitted international students.
- Responsible for application and submission of Pupils’ passes for all international students including those on exchange program.
- Sending communique to International students whose application requirements are not complete.
- Responsible for making follow ups on delayed applications at the Immigration office.
- Send out notification to students who are required to provide required documents at the immigration office or appear for interviews.
- Send communique to students who have been summoned to appear for an interview at the Immigration office.
- Responsible for processing payments for approved pupils’ passes.
- Responsible for following up on delayed reflection of payments and issuance of pupils’ passes.
- Responsible for collecting approved pupils’ passes.
- Responsible for registration, booking and taking International students to the Immigration office for Alien Registration and pupils’ pass endorsement.
- Responsible for getting visa extensions for students.
- Generate letters for the purpose of opening bank accounts or travel to International students with or without pupils’ passes.
- Run current/periodic enrollment report for International students.
- Facilitate transfer or cancellation of pupils’ passes.
- Send communique to International students for pupils’ pass application, renewal and visa renewals.
- Send communique to students for alien card collection and updates on availability of pupils’ pass.
- Send communique to students whose passes are ready.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and professional Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or Diploma in Business and Office Management.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
