    NBK Senior Relationship Manager, Islamic Banking

    Job Description

    • Deputizing the Head Islamic banking 
    • Deliver on Islamic Banking Annual Business Growth Targets; Revenue, Fees and Commissions, Profit Before Tax, Assets, Liabilities and Customer Numbers by engaging Existing and New to bank customers.
    • Relationship Management of Islamic Banking Customers.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with key/strategic Banking stakeholders.
    • Customer Service Management: Enquiry/Complaint response and resolution within set standards
    • Manage Portfolio at Risk (PAR) for Islamic Banking Customers within annual business target. 
    • Maintain Turnaround time on Credit Applications for Islamic Banking Segment Business.
    • Maintain Islamic Banking Segment Business Operational Costs within approved budget.
    • Manage and maintain a robust monitoring, controls, business continuity, governance and risk management environment.
    • Offer support in driving business growth (Asset, Liabilities and Customer numbers), Revenue and Profitability within the Islamic Banking Sector of Retail Banking

    WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 7 years relevant experience (in well-established organizations) in corporate banking, banking operations, customer service, with at least 2 Years’ in Relationship Management.
    • Track record of attaining targets of business growth and profitability in the financial services and banking sector.
    • Have appreciation and operating knowledge of the banking industry, market, trends as well as challenges. 
    • Demonstrable cross-cultural, people and relationship management skills, networking and negotiation skills, team motivation and leadership competence. 
    • Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations.
    • Customer & Client Focused Innovation – able to meet the demands of internal and external customers
    • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure
    • Innovative and creative - ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    • Some knowledge of the Bank’s lending principles, policies and procedures 

    QUALIFICATION & CERTIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors’ Degree from a recognized University. 
    • Professional certification in AKIB/CIB, CPA(K), ACCA is an added advantage.
    • Master’s degree in a Business-related field from a recognized University is an added advantage.
    • Professional qualification in sales / marketing is an added advantage.
    • Any other relevant insurance qualification and/or membership from Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) or associate Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) will be an added advantage.

    Head, Business Performance

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead the financial modelling activity for strategic business opportunities, and initiatives using a range of modelling and scenario building tools, ensuring rigorous testing of assumptions and risks to aid high quality decision making by the business. 
    • Develop and implement processes for business planning, enterprise budgeting, enterprise performance monitoring and analysis, financial modelling and post investment review. 
    • Oversee the business planning and budgeting cycle, including budget development as well as periodic performance reviews with business unit wide reforecasting. 
    • Together with the business unit leaders, undertake thorough strategic and tactical commercial analysis of business opportunities and threats. 
    • Draw reliable and timely financial and non-financial data and information together from a range of sources and provide thorough analysis, insights and options to enable the business to make sound decisions. 
    • Design and deliver ad hoc performance reporting and analytics for a range of business requirements, with a focus on the key drivers of value in the enterprise. 
    • Building a performance management culture through implementation of robust budgets, metrics and corporate targets. 
    • Review of IFRS9 model outputs, impairment drivers, and translating these for insights to business teams in a non-technical manner to inform business decisions.
    • Review of investment spend and operating costs for opportunities to extract cost efficient initiatives and inform return on investments. 
    • Ensure timely and quality board and senior management performance packs.

    MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    The preferred candidate will meet the below minimum criteria:

    • Hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
    • Is a Certified Public Accountant (CPAK)  or equivalent qualification
    • Has at least 8 years experience in the finance field, with specific management experience in the following areas:
      • Financial Analysis & business performance management, including expert use in business intelligence solutions, eg. EDWH, SQL, SAP BI, Power BI
      • Business Partnering
      • Stakeholder management of senior and multi-disciplinary stakeholders
      • Managing a team at various levels of finance expertise

    Senior Relationship Manager -Chinese Corporate Business

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To implement the Chinese customer segment strategy in line with the overall Corporate Banking Strategy; to ensure achievement of profitability targets through revenue maximization and prudent cost management.
    • Drive sustainable growth through the delivery of innovative and customized financial solutions to meet identified customer needs.
    •  To Build and maintain productive and strategic relations with Chinese Customers/Suppliers the line manager and other stakeholders (internally and externally) to drive the development and delivery of business solutions and revenue growth for the specific sectors or portfolio.
    • Ensure strong cross- selling of existing and new products to existing and new clients; and in this process, maintain effective liaison with all relevant business units in the bank
    • Champion the delivery of consistent, seamless and trusted customer service to ensure customer retention and loyalty.
    • Maintain a detailed and current understanding of the industry; (at a macro, sector specific, current market structures; regulatory requirements and issues) to ensure that that opportunities are realized and the risks mitigated.
    • Ensure timely submission of quality credit proposals in conformity with the Bank’s Credit Policy guidelines and requirements.
    • Maintain the quality of assigned portfolio within stipulated Non-Performing Loans (NPL) and Portfolio at Risk (PAR) parameters.
    • Ensure timely preparation of relevant reports and daily monitoring of accounts to ensure facilities have accurate interest rates, are within the approved limits, and taking remedial actions in line with policy.
    • Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    The desirable candidate for the role will meet the following requirements, skills and competencies:

    • Fluent in Chinese Language both written and spoken
    • University Degree from a recognized institution. 
    • Masters Degree in Business Administration and professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA and AKIB) will be an added advantage.
    • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Financial Services/Banking sector, five (5) of which should be in Chinese Relationship Management.
    • Good understanding and awareness of the business operating environment including economic and regulatory environment
    • Excellent understanding of Credit Policy and Financial Analysis
    • Knowledge of Corporate Banking Products and Solutions including Trade, Cash Management, Asset Finance and Investor Services.
    • Good analytical capabilities, presentation skills and strong organizational skills with ability to handle pressure and tight deadlines
    • Strong and demonstrable track record in networking, sales, marketing and stakeholder management (internally and externally)
    • Team player with good interpersonal skills
