Machakos County, nicknamed 'Macha,’ was the first capital city of Kenya and is now an administrative county in Kenya. Machakos is made up of eight (8) constituencies including Machakos Town, Mavoko, Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Kathiani, Matungulu, and Mwala. Machakos Town is the administrative capital of the County.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carrying out feasibility studies; planning and designing water supply and sewerage infrastructures;
- Carrying out research activities in various aspects of water, sewerage and hydraulic systems;
- Ensuring profession standards and undertaking quality control during construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure;
- Supervising the construction water and sewerage works undertaken directly or by contract;
- Maintaining water supply and sewerage systems; and monitoring and evaluation of physical and financial progress of development projects and programmes;
- Being a resident engineer of a project; and preparing technical tender documents on water supply and sewerage infrastructure.
- Designing and supervising the construction for the dams to suit county’s Hydrological and Geographical needs.
- Developing weirs for efficient water flow, management and irrigation purposes.
- Conducting feasibility studies sites assessment and preparing technical designs for water storage infrastructure.
Requirements of Appointment
- Have served in the grade of Superintending Engineer (Water and Sewerage) for a minimum period of three (3) years or nine (9) years of experience in private sector;
- Have Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Or an equivalent degree from a recognized institution;
- Be registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer;
- Be a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
- Have certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than (4) weeks or any managerial course from a recognized institution;
- Have certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution;
- Knowledge and experience in Dam design software is an added advantage.

Duties and responsibility
- The day to day management of the affairs of the fund;
- Provide technical assistance to the Ward Planning Committees;
- Process and ensure timely disbursement of project funds as approved by the County Planning Committee;
- Prepare quarterly returns on the movement of funds as appropriate for submission to the County Assembly;
- Cause to be kept proper books of accounts and records related to the fund;
- Ensure the accounts and financial statements for the fund comply with international accounting standards or other standards as may from time to time be prescribed by the Accounting Standards Board;
- Not later than three months after the end of each financial year, prepare and submit to the County Assembly, financial statements relating to those accounts; and
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the County Planning Committee.
- Reporting to county officials on village matters, including infrastructure status, social issues, and project progress.
- Identifying and mobilizing resources for village projects, including partnerships with NGOs and local businesses.
Requirements of Appointment
For appointment in this grade. an officer must have:-
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
- Has at least fifteen (15) years of experience of which five (5) years are in Finance Management
- Is a member of a recognized professional body
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of environmental matters and
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
