    Finance Manager/Accountant

    Job purpose:  Financial planning and help in decision making processes to ensure that businesses are financially successful and provides general support to the finance department maintain records of assets, liabilities, profits and loss, and tax liabilities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collating, preparing and interpreting reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements
    • Undertaking strategic analysis and assisting with strategic planning producing long-term business plans
    • Undertaking research into pricing, competitors and factors affecting performance
    • Controlling income, cash flow and expenditure managing budgets
    • Developing and managing financial systems/models (ERP master files, Internal controls, transactions)
    • Carrying out business modelling and risk assessments (Perform cost benefit analysis)
    • Preparing accounts and returns to statutory bodies (NHIF/PAYE/NSSF/VAT/EPZ etc)

    Human Resource and Administration Officer

    Job purpose:  Provide leadership and support in functional areas of human resources including recruitment, employment, personnel records, employee and/or labor relations, job evaluation, benefits administration, employee development, training, ensuring compliance with the labour laws and corporate HR guidelines.

    Supervises:

    • Assistant Human Resources
    • Housekeeping staff
    • Maintenance staff

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage factory recruitment in liaison with the Factory Manager.
    • Manage performance and training activities for all Factory staff.
    • Serves as a strategic and tactical business partner to the Factory leadership team.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications, and/or meetings
    • Ensure full statutory compliance and implement corrective measures.
    • Promote Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) consciousness and ensure compliance to food handler’s examination.

    Factory Manager

    Job purpose: To manage all factory operations

    Management Responsibility

    • Member of the Factory Management Committee

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Production
      1. Making sure that the tea is produced on time and is of high quality.
      2. Plan daily, weekly and monthly production schedules and oversee the execution by factory staff
      3. Oversee all materials movement; from raw material purchases though the operations processes and up to finished goods storage and shipment
      4. Coordinate, set up and implement standard operating procedure for all production operation.
    2. Finance
      1. Financial management and control; Ensure laid down policies and procedures for accounting, payment, purchasing, selling of tea, are adhered to.
      2. Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and other line managers.
    3. Logistics
      1. Logistics; organize and ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of all materials and payments for suppliers and from customers
    4. HR
      1. Human resource: recruiting suitable qualified staff and development to build a strong team and manage labor costs with support from the HR officer.
      2. Oversee proper implementation of HR function to maintain zero staff unrest, comply with NEMA regulations, ensure zero workplace accidents, fire incidents and ensure staff training as necessary
    5. Management and Administration
      1. Monitoring standard of tea produced and implementing quality control programs
      2. Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices.

    Boiler Operator

    Job purpose: To supervise all boiler activities to ensure operation as per set operating procedures and steam is generated efficiently at the correct pressure for production of high quality tea.

    Supervise staff on duty in boiler operations ensuring the right number of labour to operate the boiler is always available and that the boiler is operating well for production of required steam to process quality tea.

    Control usage of fuel wood and maintain required records

    Supervises: General workers and casuals working in the boiler section.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operating the steam system equipment as per approved procedures.
    • Reporting malfunction of boilers.
    • Carrying out boiler water treatment as per necessary.
    • Carrying out planned preventive maintenance for the boilers as per procedures.
    • Ensuring that the boilers are safe for use at all times.
    • Recording and keeping boiler operations and maintenance data.
    • Ensuring that the factory maximizes on the use of firewood boiler.

    Extension Officer

    Job purpose: Good plant husbandry and ensuring adequate supply of quality green leaf to the factory.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Guiding farmers in planting quality tea plants;
    • Recruiting out-growers/farmers to plant tea and farmers to supply green leaf to the Chebango Tea Factory;
    • Carrying out verification of level of preparation of new growers/tea farms;
    • Training farmers on effective management of the established nurseries and tea farms;
    • Co-ordination between the company and the out growers (farmers);
    • Co-ordination of activities with Tea Board of Kenya (TBK), Kenya Tea Research Foundation (TRFK) and other stakeholders;
    • Issuing of fertilizers to farmers as by the number of verified bushes and training farmers on the application of fertilizer at their individual farms;
    • Liaising with other authorities in solving problems concerning tea growing;
    • Carrying out verification of new growers and transfer cases;
    • Conducting field visits and teaching out grower about plucking quality leaves and carrying out census of plant population;
    • Addressing farmers issues such as complaints, new ideas e.g. and report to the green leaf manager.
    • Coordinating with accounts department.
    • Participating in communicating the company’s policies to farmers as and when required.

    Wood Fuel Officer

    Job purpose: To oversee all the activities in wood fuel department.

    Supervises: General workers and casuals working in the wood fuel section.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan for Wood Fuel requirement
    • Ensuring the factory has adequate supply of wood fuel throughout the year.
    • Identifying various sources of wood fuel.
    • Ensure replanting of cut down trees as well as promote tree planting within the factory catchment area.
    • Advise management on appropriate species of wood fuel to purchase.
    • Develop and always update wood fuel policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that wood purchased is stacked in the wood fuel shades in an appropriate manner ensuring that it does not endanger anyone by falling.
