    Manager - Operational Risk

    Job description

    Supporting the bank’s First Line of Defence in implementing the Bank’s Operational Risk Framework (ORF), and supporting the Enterprise Risk strategy and associated Operational Risk procedures to ensure that operational risk is effectively managed at the business unit level.

    Identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of all material Operational risks (People Systems, processes & external events) to relevant governance forums.

    Assist in rolling out and managing Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) with Materiality of Risks being highlighted.

    Facilitate the development of the overall bank top risk dashboard for Board and management consumption factoring in Information security risk.

    Ensure absolute adherence to country BAU Operational Risk deadlines, and effective business risk escalation to Risk Management Committee and other stakeholders.

    Support in computing the Capital allocation for Operational risk in line with the latest Basel Accord.

    Develop control enhancements to ensure that any known risks are controlled within acceptable boundaries and consistent standards.

    Align business strategy with operational risk appetite and seek to optimise the business' risk-return profile.

    Mentor staff across all segments on business controls, governance and supervision.

    Be the go-to person for the business, for all operational risk related incidents/queries/ events that arise, and become a business 'Front to Back' subject matter expert in all products offered in the market.

    Ensure compliance with policies applicable to Financial Markets which impact operational risk. Challenge processes, procedures and policy if there is a better way to do things

    Escalate issues, blockages, challenges and trends to the Head of Risk and Business Heads when required

    Speak Out about emerging risks or Unknown-Unknowns and try and change the way things are done - making BAU (your job) easier

    Focus on Regulations, regulatory compliance and associated operational risks, cross border issues and regulations that restrict these activities

    Network extensively, and drive change / improvements

    Manage and track issues arising, ensuring that resolutions are undertaken in a timely manner and with agreed standards.

    Support the development and periodic update the Branch Snap Check program and operating tools.

    Act as point of contact for and co-ordination of Peer, Internal and External Audit reviews establishing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issues raised.

    Manage and track issues arising from these reviews, ensuring that resolutions are undertaken in a timely manner and with agreed standards.

    Undertake trend analysis to determine thematic concerns and recommend/ develop corrective actions e.g. process reviews/ re-engineering, etc.

    Support the identification of risks and relevant mitigating controls during development of new products/ processes through structured mechanisms such as the NPA process.

    Review existing operational processes across the bank with other stake holders (relevant functions) to ensure they are fit for purpose &/or updated as need be.

    Review need for revision of and/or development of processes/procedures arising from gaps/shortcomings identified in potential/materialized risks e.g. from RCSA testing, Peer/ BIA reviews, Risk Events reports, etc.

    Support the implementation of new initiative/projects to improve processes/ service delivery; and ensure that all process changes that result from such projects are incorporated into procedure manuals.

    Job requirments:

    Degree in Finance, banking or any relevant commercial discipline

    7 -10 years banking experience of with at least 5 years in Risk Management / Control environment from a reputed financial institution.

    Analytical, Communication & Negotiation skills, Presentation skills

    Good knowledge of Islamic banking operational process
