    Job Summary:

    To provide technical leadership in the implementation of the Marsabit County ASAL Livelihoods programme and mentorship and technical guidance to the field officers

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the field officers. The technical support will be specific to the implementation of the required activities as will be defined in the annual program work plan
    • Implementation of the Marsabit County ASAL Livelihoods program annual work plan
    • Document progress made in the implementation of the Marsabit County ASAL Livelihoods program on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This will include but not limited to: document case studies and change stories in close consultation with the field officer and line manager, monthly and quarterly progress report which should be clearly linked to the annual program work plan, monthly and quarterly indicator tracker clearly showing progress made against the targets set out in the M&E plan/Logframe, pictorial and audio-visual recordings of project implementation and as will be defined by the line manager and/or the Senior Manager Livelihoods
    • Advice the line manager on necessary changes as observed on the ground in order to improve implementation of planned interventions
    • Network with like-minded partners at sub-county level in order to optimize programme delivery
    • Represent Concern Worldwide at Sub County level coordination and technical forums in: Citizen participation linked to areas of interest of livelihoods, Crop production forums, livestock production forums, natural resource management forums and others as will be specified by the line manager and/or the Senior Manager Livelihoods
    • Foster linkages between target communities and community groups with the relevant government departments and the private sectors as appropriate and as will be defined in the annual work plan. This will entail mapping out and identifying the relevant government departments and private sectors that will be appropriate at sub County and ward level.
    • Responding to Emergencies:
    • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
    • Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies
    • Programme Participant Protection Policy
    • To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
    • To support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner organisations and beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment.
    • To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme (as per P4 section 6).

    Job Specification:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Livestock Production, Crop Production, Social Sciences or any other relevant field
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
    • Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management, Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Participatory Disease Surveillance, Natural Resource Management, Climate Smart Agriculture, Pastoral Field Schools, Making Markets work for the Poor and Value Chains Development.
    • Fluency in spoken and written language in English, Swahili. Knowledge of at least one of the local languages spoken in Marsabit County is an added advantage
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Good computing and report writing skills
    • Be able to work independently, as well as in a team
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.

    Field Assistant

    Job Summary:

    To develop capacity and support target communities on livelihoods related matters in specified administrative wards of North Horr, Marsabit

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the line government departments at the ward level including the Ward and Village Administrators, Village Development Committees, Ward Livestock Production Officer, Ward Water Officer, Ward Animal Health Technician, Ward Crop Production Officer and Ward Public Health Team and Concern’s Community Development Facilitators in the Ward
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to target community groups such as Natural Resource Management groups, Income Generating Groups, Pastoralist Field School Groups, Community Disaster Management Committees and Livestock Marketing Associations amongst others. The technical leadership and mentorship to the groups will entail motivating the group members to undertake the planned activities, document the progress made and provide appropriate feedback to the line manager on support needed for the target groups.
    • Support the target community groups and individuals in target communities in developing work plans and/or action plans as appropriate.
    • Support the target community groups and individuals in target communities access and link with relevant government and private sector actors located within the relevant wards where the field officer is located
    • Link target community groups with government line departments at ward level for continued support
    • Document case studies, at least 1 every month clearly demonstrating changes that are happening within the target communities, with close guidance from the line manager and the M&E Officer
    • Represent Concern Worldwide at ward and administrative village level development and coordination forums including clearly documenting all meetings attended for ASAL Livelihoods programme reporting
    • Relay timely and accurate information on any planned coordination meetings and community participation events happening in the ward/s immediately government officers publicize the event and ideally before the planned event happens.

    • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
    • Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies

    Job Specification:

    • A diploma in Community Development, Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Livestock Production, Animal Health, Agriculture, Water Engineering or any other relevant field
    • At least one (1) years’ experience in implementing community projects in a similar role
    • Must be able and willing to ride a motorbike. A valid motorbike riding license is an added advantage.
    • Must be a resident of the ward applied for
    • Strong written and oral communication, good computing and report writing skills
    • Be able to work independently, as well as in a team
    • Be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
    • Fluency in both spoken and written language in English and Kiswahili. Fluency in the local language is essential.

    Job Summary:

    To provide technical leadership in the implementation of Community Empowerment Approaches in North Horr, Marsabit

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical leadership in the establishment, maintenance and graduation of CC groups in the County
    • Develop technical capacity and support for community conversations to Concern programme staff including training and mentorship
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Community Development Facilitators (CDF) and Community Facilitators (CFs) in implementation of community conversations
    • Foster linkages between the CDF to the County Government of Marsabit to facilitate citizen participation in county planning and budget processes
    • Coordinate the utilization of the Community Conversations platform for achievement of Programme results and citizen participation
    • Network with and interest other actors at county/ sub-county level to utilize community conversation groups as entry points for their interventions
    • Look out for and advice on emerging community participation avenues and preposition CC groups to take advantage of such avenues
    • Participate in the development of phased approaches to ensure that programme achieve their result through the CC approach
    • Conduct regular field visits to Community Conversations to monitor for quality assurance
    • Provide relevant CC data including change stories for use by the Communication Officer in documentation of the Community Conversations approach
    • Compilation of timely monthly and quarterly reports on Community Conversations
    • Responding to Emergencies:
    • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
    • Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies

    • Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management
    • Fluency in English and Kiswahili, and at least one of the local languages spoken in Marsabit County is a an added advantage

    • Good computing and report writing skills
    • Be able to work independently, as well as in a team
    • Strong leadership and management skills
