    Vendor Performance Manager

    Job description

    Department Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Masoko Department within the Enterprise Business Unit Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Vendor Operations, the position holder will be tasked with improving the overall business performance, customer satisfaction and re-purchase rates by improving the vendor performance.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop processes in conjunction with the Warehousing and Logistics teams to improve the vendor On-Time Shipping & On-Time Delivery which will improve Customer Experience.
    • Ensure all vendors on Masoko are aware of the SLAs and agree to abide by them.
    • Enforce, update and refresh Masoko SLAs for vendors
    • Create clean and compelling visual reporting and graphical depictions of data that shows impact of OTS/OTD and Order Defect Rate performance for Masoko.
    • Analyze large quantities of data to Category Managers and the business at large make timely and relevant decisions in the onboarding and management of vendors.
    • Manages end-to-end Partner Performance metrics, Order Defect Rate, On-Time Shipping, Valid Tracking, and relationship success.
    • Monitoring and defining strategies to act on customer feedback; and providing strategic and operational recommendations to senior staff and cross-functional/third party partners
    • In conjunction with warehousing and content teams ensure the accuracy of the stock levels published on the website especially for consignment stock.
    • Ensure the adoption of the Vendor Portal for all vendors.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant and quantitative field (e.g. Operations Research, Economics, Management Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, etc.).
    • 6+ years of total work experience
    • Experience in establishing, measuring, and meeting service level agreements, improving the availability, performance, and quality of systems, and managing complex on-the-fly operational concerns.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Deliver against key financial and service level performance indicators: Turnover, margin, stock cover, selection
    • Negotiate product pricing, commissions and/or rebates on product sold
    • Build a process to streamline commissions of vendors
    • Build the inventory pipeline in correct product mix (assortment and depth)
    • Inventory management
    • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers whilst seeking out new ones
    • Continuously assess industry and market trends locally and internationally
    • Plan and execute joint marketing activities with suppliers and vendors
    • Work closely with Category Managers and Commercial & marketing teams to ensure strategic alignment
    • Work closely with Customer Service to resolve inventory related queries
    • Develop RTV processes for inventory held
    • Ensuring records are maintained accurately and vendor catalogues are updated regularly.

    Job Requirements

    • 5+ years in buying, account management, financial analysis and/or marketing
    • 2+ years negotiation experience
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; leverage data and metrics to develop assumptions and support conclusions
    • Proficiency with Excel and basic financial modeling.

    Senior Manager -Consumer Products


    Job description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Consumer Products and Services Department within the Consumer Business Unit Division.

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the HOD – Consumer Products and Services, the role holder will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the assigned Consumer Products and Services by; defining the overall strategy, designing and developing insightful segment-led propositions and crafting the marketing strategy to drive product adoption and usage in conjunction with other stakeholders.

    They will also manage the assigned products life cycle and general commercial aspects to ensure continuous product performance on profitability, NPS and brand fit.

    Detailed Description

    • Develop, Manage and Deliver propositions for assigned product/portfolio.
    • Partner management for all Products and services.
    • Deliver P&L for assigned product/portfolio.
    • Develop and own the assigned Products innovation funnel and New Product Introductions Roadmap.
    • Responsible for ranking and prioritizing different requirements, approve final release plan and accept all deliverables against set acceptance criteria.
    • Drive the Digital Transformation agenda and design thinking across the consumer product teams.
    • Develop and execute strategies to capture value from existing products through effective growth stimulation and new products adoption.
    • Develop product master plans, adoption plans and revenue plans and execute to realize set targets.
    • Perform needs analysis at prospective customers and market segments as well as employ business analytics insights to identify opportunities and create winning propositions that deliver to the product portfolio objectives of revenue, retention, innovation and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
    • Manage the full products lifecycle for the assigned product/portfolio including products rationalization and performance reviews that lead to enhancements of existing products and retirement/replacement of products that are neither profitable nor delivering retention and brand equity values to the business unit.
    • Ensure transfer and sustenance of products knowledge among the relevant support teams before launch and thereafter during the product lifecycle.
    • Initiate and coordinate the launch of new products and services with the segments and marketing team and ensure successful go-to-market and market activation of products and services.
    • Ensure all products information is properly documented and in format suitable for the different stakeholders.
    • Lead the consumer products and services team in creating and sustaining a cultural environment shaped by the Safaricom way of leadership;
    • Lead and manage the team assigned, ensuring the team has clear priorities, direction and remain motivated by providing inspirational leadership through regular coaching and
    • Increase the employee engagement index for the consumer products and services team in line with agreed targets.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Commercial discipline from a recognized university
    • Experience of 5 years in a high result oriented organization with at least two in a commercial setting driving growth through products and innovation or product brand management.
    • Experience in use of Analytics and AB/multivariate testing and other methodologies to drive data driven decision making
    • Understanding of GSM and related Telecom Technologies and Platforms
    • Flexible with planning and work estimation, managing and empowering related team(s), able to continuously balance between the customer and commercial needs
    • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to minimize overhead tasks with the tea and manage interdependence with other teams
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.

    • Analyze both internal and external customer environment to draw insights into the segment propositions to optimize revenue and profitability.
    • Drive strategic partnerships and collaboration with key departments that manage market research, customer intelligence, data warehouse, and financial analysis to align to the segment market unit goals.
    • Develop and launch periodic acquisition promotions in order to increase customer base as well as track the performance and revise propositions when necessary in order to increase revenue and profitability;
    • Review and manage creative process for ATL and BTL communication while working closely with Brand Team and all corresponding agencies;
    • Responsible for the development of the segment strategy and developing commercial case to secure commercial approvals for the segment;
    • Project manage the plan till delivery by working with Virtual Business teams and the Joint Delivery Teams
    • Develop and present Market segment commercial performance in monthly reviews while ensuring the Segment Opex Budget is optimally utilized.
    • Lead the Market Segment team in creating and sustaining a cultural environment for the function shaped by the Safaricom way of leadership;

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in Sales & Marketing or a business management discipline.
    • 8 years’ hands on experience in product management/segment marketing in a highly competitive commercial environment, with at least 4 years’ senior management experience
    • Strong customer focus with proven experience in launching products and delivering against product revenue targets.
    • Experience in managing and developing teams.
    • Strong awareness of market trends, competitive impacts and market opportunities
