    Senior Accountant (Assets Management)

    Reporting to the Principal Financial Accountant, the Senior Accountant (Assets Management) is responsible for preparation of financial statements, monthly and final accounts as per KPA policy and International Financial Reporting Standards

    Responsibilities

    Marine Civil Engineer

    Reporting to Principal Civil Engineer (Planning & Design)the job holder is responsible for designing of marine structures and supervision of the maintenance and rehabilitation of the same.

    Hospital Administration Officer

    Reporting to the Head of Medical Services the job holder is responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative support to facilitate efficient provision of medical care in the Medical Department.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensuring that there is timely maintenance of equipment, availability of working tools and office accommodation.
    • Attending to all official correspondences for the Department.
    • Coordinating and compiling medical reports (patient attendance, admissions, referrals, MCH (Mother – Child Healthcare), Lab, sick-offs, rebates/non-rebates, etc.

    Head of HR

    Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources & Administration Manager, the job holder is responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating Human Resources Development, Performance Management, Resourcing and Welfare activities and services within the Authority.

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to Principal Billing & Customer Relations Officer the job holder is responsible for identifying customer needs in documentation and billing activities and fulfilling them with to mutual satisfaction.     Reporting to the general Manager Corporate Services the jobholder is responsible for management and delivery of Information Technology services in the Authority

    Reporting to the Principal Supplies Officer (Purchasing & Supplies), the job holder is responsible for procurement of supplies, material works and service through contract/non-contract arrangements with the objective of ensuring an uninterrupted flow of those supplies, materials works and services.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinating contract preparation and signing in liaison with the User, Supplier and Corporation Secretary.

    Reporting to the Principal Procurement Officer (CTC & T), the Senior Procurement Officer (Tenders) is responsible for all tendering activities with the objective of ensuring an efficient, effective and economical service to both users and vendors.

    Responsibilities

    Chief Clinical Officer

    Reporting to the Head of Medical Services, the job holder is responsible for Planning, Implementation, Coordination, Supervision and Evaluation of clinical services offered to KPA employees and their eligible dependents.

    Responsibilities

    • Offering specialized clinical services including, Anesthesia, ENT/Audiology, ophthalmology, reproductive health, orthopedics and trauma, child health and pediatrics, lungs and skin, dermatology and venereology, cardiovascular perfusion.

    Projects Engineer (Electrical)

    Reporting to the Principal Projects Engineer (Electrical) the job holder is responsible for ensuring that utility (Electrical, ICT, Networks, Fire Suppression, Air Conditioning systems and other related) components of all the capital works projects carried out by or on behalf of the authority are undertaken in accordance with the work standards and within the estimated budgets and programmes.

    Port Fire Officer

    Description

    Overall Objective

    Reporting to the Head of Marine Operations, the job holder is responsible for overseeing the fire fighting and prevention services in all areas within the authority’s jurisdiction.

    Tasks And Responsibilities

    • Overseeing training of new recruits and in-serving fire service staff to maintain high standards.
    • Ensuring compliance with staff regulations, Harbour Regulations 1970, Circulars and Notices issued from time to time.
    • Participating in the preparation of budgetary proposals and controls.
    • Coordinating firefighting and prevention activities within the jurisdiction of the Kenya Ports Authority.
    • Conducting fire risk assessment, surveys and inspection of premises during construction/alterations, formulate fire plans and advise management on all aspects of fire precautions.

    • Organizing first aid trainings, examinations, re-examinations, competitions and other related activities for the employees.
    • Overseeing the investigation of fire incidents and recommending preventive measures.

    Requirements

    • Be a holder of a Bachelor of Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution
    • Possess Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate from a recognized Institution.
    • Be a member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or any other relevant professional body
    • Should be trained in Disaster Management and Emergency Evacuation
    • Have sound Knowledge of Directorate of Occupational Safety & Health Services Legislation (DOSHS)
    • Have not less than five (5) years’ experience in provision of firefighting and prevention services with at least three (3) years served at a managerial level

    Principal Employee Relations Officer

    Description

    Overall Objective

    Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, the job holder is responsible for the implementation of Authority’s industrial relations programs and resolves disputes/ grievances affecting unionisable employees arising from employment.

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    • Effectively assisting in the coordination and implementation of the Authority’s’ industrial relations programs.
    • Sensitizing and Educating Shop stewards and immediate supervisors on industrial relation matters.
    • Addressing complaints and grievances affecting Unionisable employees arising from employment practices and work life.
    • Ensuring Union deductions and FKE subscriptions are processed and remitted in accordance with the law.
    • Assisting in the review of the terms and conditions of service for unionisable employees(CBA)
    • Liaising with other divisions and provides guidance and advise to Sectional heads on the implementation of established CBA with the recognized Trade Unions
    • Resolving issues likely to lead to industrial relations problems arising from the employment practices and work life at source.
    • Carrying out regular audits on the implementation of statutory agreements and regulations. (Human Resources Manual, Collective Bargaining Agreement and Industrial Relations Machinery).
    • Providing Union contracts administration services including investigation of grievances.
    • Providing guidance and advice to unionisable employee on the correct policies and procedures with regards to disciplinary cases.
    • Facilitating of the Joint Industrial Council program and implementation of all issues discussed.
    • Participating in productivity and liaison matters
    • Monitoring and addressing trade disputes raised by the Union to the County Labour Office.
    • Ensuring compliance with staff regulations, circulars and notices issued from time to time.
    • Ensuring working overtime is within approved budget.

    Requirements

    • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or, Social Sciences or in any other relevant field from a recognized institution
    • A Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or any other equivalent and relevant qualifications from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
    • Possess Post Graduate qualification in Human Resource Management or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
    • Be a member of the Institute of Human Resources Management Kenya with a valid practicing license.
    • Have not less than five (5) years experience in delivery of Employee/ Industrial Relations services with at least three (3) years served at a managerial level.

    Senior Employee Relations Officer (Productivity/Liaison)

    Description

    Overall Objective

    Reporting to the Principal Employee Relations Officer, the job holder participates in Industrial relations activities for industrial harmony and realization of the Authority’s objectives.

    Tasks And Responsibilities

    • In consultation attending to the operation of industrial relations Activities to maintain industrial harmony.
    • Providing advisory services to works committees and first phase in handling serious grievances at Sectional levels.
    • Conducting regular audits on the implementation of the Employment policies and Collective Agreements.
    • In liaison conducting surveys on the review of the terms and conditions of employment for Unionisable employees.
    • Studying and carrying out sensitization programs to ensure all cadres of staff are aware of their obligations to the contract of employment.
    • Explaining to and guiding staff/workers on the existing channels of addressing their grievances and complaints.
    • In consultation managing issues affecting the breakdown of industrial relations issues including strikes.
    • Attending to the resolution of disputes at the district labour offices filed by the Union or by individual employees.

    Requirements

    • Be a holer of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution from a recognized institution
    • Be a valid member of the Institute of Human Resources Management Kenya and be of good standing.
    • Have over five (5) years’ experience in providing support in the delivery of Employee/ Industrial Relations services with at least three (3) years served at a managerial level
