    Managing Director (MD)-001/2022

    Job Purpose

    • The MD is responsible for the efficient management of the affairs of the company. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the company in consultation with the Board. He/she shall provide overall leadership to the company and guide its strategic direction so as to ensure effective achievement of set goals and objectives.
    • Reporting relationshipThis MD reports to the GWASCO Board of Management
    • SuperviseesThe position supervises the Core Management Team of GWASCO.

    Duties and Responsibilities of the position.
    The duties and responsibilities of this position are:-

    • Providing leadership in the formulation and implementation of the company's plans, policies and strategies to ensure profitable operation
    • Advising the Board on the overall performance in regards to objectives, targets and policies as they affect operations of the company
    • Formulating and updating of the corporate plan including projections of any necessary expansion and development of water services facilities and extensions of the business operation
    • Ensuring effective mobilization and utilization of resources
    • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of soundhuman resources policies and procedures
    • Coordinating and directing the company's operations and overall administration to ensure that the various departments and sections conform with overall operational plans and adhere to set performance targets
    • Ensuring smooth and effective culture change within the company tobe consistent with the commercial principles and practices of operating a business
    • Ensuring the business promotion is carried out as per developed and formulated plans so as to attain planned revenue targets
    • Promoting and maintaining of good relations with the community and customers
    • Design a performance Management system with cleared measures to evaluate performance against the strategic plan , policies, annual work plans and other company business plans
    • Develop and recommend to the Board of directors' long-term strategies, business plans, and annual operating budgets; and establishes proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures.
    • Promoting good practice on human resources matters including organizational structures, appointments, welfare, training and development, industrial relations separation and effective succession management plans.
    • Maintaining a conducive work environment for attracting, promoting, retaining and motivating employees.
    • Participate in the deliberations of the committees of the Board.
    • Co-ordinate and prepare business related proposals, Board Papers, reports and other submissions for consideration by the Board.
    • Coordinate development & implementation of company budget and annual work plans for financial year and seeking approvals from the relevant committees and the GWASCO Board of Management
    • Accountable for physical assets of the company including the annual update of inventory and asset registers in accordance to the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015
    • Makes strategic, operational and financial decisions for the Board
    • Plans the work of subordinates, assigns work to subordinates, and monitors subordinates work performance. Appraises/evaluates subordinates performance
    • Not later than three months after the end of each financial year, prepare annual financial statements for that financial year and submit them to the GWASCO Board Management for deliberations and feedback and submission to the Auditor-General for auditing.
    • In carrying out the responsibilities of Accounting Officer for the Company,

    You shall;

    1. Ensure that the Company keeps financial and accounting records that comply with the Public Finance Management Act
    2. Ensure that all financial and accounting records that the Company keeps in any form including in electronic form are adequately protected and backed up;
    3. Ensure that all contracts entered into by the Company are lawful and are complied with;
    4. Ensure that all applicable accounting procedures are followed when acquiring or disposing of goods and services and that, in the case of goods, adequate arrangements are made for their custody, safeguarding and maintenance;
    • Promote the wellness of staff and implementing policies in line with labour legislation and health and safety guidelines to create a diverse and positive working environment.
    • Preparation of annual reports and attending/presenting at boardmeetings.
    • Build relationships with external experts and agencies.
    • Carry out any other responsibilities and may be adjudged by the boardas relevant to the position.
    • The MD is the link between the staff and the Board.

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Bachelor's degree in any of the following areas: Civil Engineering, Water/Waste Water Engineering, Environmental Science, Businessrelated field, Economics, Finance, or relevant field from an Institution recognized in Kenya.
    • A post graduate qualification in Engineering, Business, Finance,
    • Strategic Management or relevant field from an Institution recognized in Kenya is an added advantage
    • Registered with the relevant professional body and should be a member in good standing
    • 10 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years managerial experience.
    •  Experience in proposal development especially in WASH areas. Those with demonstrable experience in proposal development with donors have an added advantage
    •  Demonstrable experience in Public Sector Financial management & reporting
    •  A proven track record of successfully managing a company.
    •  A high level of business awareness and acumen.
    •  Excellent Leadership, communication and organizational skills.
    •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    •  Strong crisis management and conflict mediation skills
    •  In depth knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
    •  Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
    •  Must be computer literate.

    Commercial Manager -002/2022

    Job Purpose

    • The Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial function and Business Development Strategy of the Company
    • Reporting relationship: The position reports to the Managing Director
    • Supervises: The position supervises the commercial department/function staff

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The duties and responsibilities of this position are: -

    • Processing new customer accounts, Updating the customers register/accounts
    • Coordinate the departmental performance to ensure realization of set targets monthly, quarterly and annually
    • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the department
    • Prepare Board management papers for approval
    • Ensure that all the data with regards to monthly meter readings and payments is entered and verified
    • Liaising with other sections in provision of quality service to customers

    Finance Manager -003/2022

    Job Purpose

    • The Finance Manager is responsible for the Finance function of the company to Perform financial analysis and reporting as needed and as per the laid down procedures and in accordance to the Public Finance Management Act, 2012.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The duties and responsibilities of this position are:-

    • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions
    • Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
    • Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company
    • Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making
    • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings
    • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
    • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
    • Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.
    • Supervise the documentation of the company’s financial status and forecasts.
    • Mediate between the organization, employees, stakeholders, shareholders and investors on financial issues for amicable resolution of differences.
    • Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.
    • Develop department budget and work plan

    • Deal with banks/ financial institutions.

    • Prepare a report for each quarter of the financial year, and at the end of each financial year, prepare a financial statement in respect of the
    • Company in a format prescribed by the Accounting Standards Board.
    • Not later than three months after the end of each financial year, prepare annual financial statements for that financial year and submit them to the County Treasury for consolidation and submission to the
    • Auditor-General for audit and other relevant offices.
    • Identify training needs for the departmental staff and recommend appropriate development opportunities to address the needs
    • Participate in the recruitment of staff within the department, Mentor and coach departmental staff, Plans the work of subordinates, and assigns work to subordinates and Monitors subordinates workperformance.
    • Appraises/evaluates subordinates performance
    • Work closely with the CMT in all areas
    • Performing related work as may be required.

    Requirements for Appointment

    •  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or any other BusinessRelated Field CPA (K), ACCA or relevant professional qualification.
    •  Member of a relevant professional body and in good standing
    •  7 years' experience with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory position
    •  Experience in financial reporting is an asset
    •  Interpersonal communication skills is demonstrable experience in the development of donor fundingproposals
    •  Ability to work beyond the call of duty
    •  In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards , tax regulations and industry legislation
    •  Excellent ability to problem solve along solid analytical skills,understanding of business process, and systems optimization

    Human Resource Manager -004/2022

    Job Purpose

    • The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the HR and Administration function of the company to ensure that the human resources and administration matters are effectively run to facilitate smooth operations of the company.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The duties and responsibilities of this position are:-

    • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
    • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
    • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
    • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the company
    • Nurture a positive working environment
    • Develop and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
    • Carry out training needs assessment and monitor training programs
    • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
    • Formulation, review and recommend for approval of human resource policies and procedures in compliance with the applicable legislative framework and best practice.
    • Manage the recruitment and selection processes to ensure that the company is adequately resourced with the right caliber of staff
    • Supervise the monthly processing of the Company’s payroll and ensure timely remittance of related statutory deductions in line with approved budgets.
    • Manage the employee and industrial relations for the company to ensure employee and industrial harmony in the work place.
    • Manage the staff disciplinary process and act as Secretary to the disciplinary committee in line with the company's disciplinary policy
    • Coordinate timely implementation of HR programmes to ensure that programme objectives are fully met
    • Supervise the effective operation of HR administration function such as terms and conditions of service
    • Prepare & approve monthly payroll for execution by Finance Department
    • Manage staff compliments, complaints and enquiries
    • Guide employee grievance handling and disciplinary matters in the company as per HR policy
    • Conduct employee satisfaction survey, analyze the results of the employee satisfaction surveys and advise management ways of improving the index
    • Prepare and submit all monthly, quarterly and annual reports for thedepartment
    • Identify training needs for the company staff and prepare training development plan for implementation in line with the company budget

    • Ensure the department is adequately resourced by professional and competent staff
    • Guide programs such as performance appraisals, personal development and succession plans to ensure the Company retains the best human resources
    • Initiate programs to foster a culture in which staff feels supported so as to deliver exceptional results.
    • Supervise the administration of staff benefits such as medical scheme and leave benefits in line with the set policy
    • Recommend payment of claims as per set levels
    • Responsible for physical assets assigned by the company
    • Makes strategic, operational and financial decisions for the department
    • Plans the work of subordinates, assigns work to subordinates, and monitors subordinates work performance. Appraises/evaluates subordinates performance
    • Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the MD.

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
    • Member of a relevant professional body and in good standing
    • 7 years' relevant work experience work experience with at least 3 years managerial or supervisory experience
    • Proven working experience as HR Manager or other HR Executive
    • People oriented and results driven
    • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
    • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
    • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
    • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
    • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
    • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and experience in handling of web based management systems
