    Manufacturing Engineer

    Job description

    Your Your Previous Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience managing an Engineering organization. Preferably experience in manual assembly operations, metal stamping and forming, and designing tools for use by factory production. Must have very strong knowledge in mechanical CAD design (2D required, 3D helpful). Must have analytical and problem-solving skills, using statistical methods, direct input from production (Gemba), and be extremely hands on. Must be able to personally implement engineering concepts on the production floor (very important).

    Your Team: Initially this role has no direct reports. In the second stage there will be manufacturing engineering technicians will reporting into this position.

    Your responsibilities: You will be a key member of NPI cross functional team (NPD – M&S)

    • Design and project management of fixtures and Jigs for assembly lines
    • Production Line Layout
    • Facility Layout – in conjunction with support from Head of Manufacturing and the COO.
    • Process Flows
    • Process development – project based, with support of Head of Engineering.
    • Capacity Models and Utilization Models
    • Line Balancing, headcount reduction, time studies
    • Costing of Assembly Processes – with support of Head of Engineering and the COO. Will coordinate with supply chain for full product pricing using existing ERP system.
    • Continuous Improvement action reducing costs
    • Work instructions
    • Standard Operating Procedures related to Engineering activities

    Head of Manufacturing Engineering

    You will require: Minimum of 15 years experience managing an Engineering organization. Preferably experience in manual assembly operations, metal stamping and forming, and managing tool room operations. Must have experience in launching new products. Must be detail oriented, but also have a demonstrated background in speed of execution in supporting new markets expansion, NPI, and new manufacturing process implementations. Will work closely with NPD and M&S as part of cross functional teams.

    You will manage: Initially: a team of 2-3 manufacturing engineers, and 2 manufacturing engineering technicians.  In the second stage:  additional manufacturing engineers will be brought in as the company increases in size, and other facilities will be brought on board. In third stage, you will take responsibility for maintenance and the tool room.

    Manufacturing Engineering Technician

    Job description

    Your Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years experience supporting manufacturing organizations – preferable in manual assembly operations. Must have analytical and problem-solving skills (hands-on preferred). Must be able to manage large sets of spreadsheet data related to production times, and manufacturing processes. Must be able to visually and in written format, present manufacturing information to the production line, and support the engineering team in cost reduction efforts.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Maintenance of fixtures and Jigs for assembly lines
    • Process Flows
    • Time studies, models used by ERP for capacity calculations.
    • Will work closely with Maintenance, ensuring production lines are well maintained, and to the latest standards.
    • Continuous Improvement action reducing costs
    • Work instructions
    • May need to work multiple (non-daytime) shifts. Will be the engineering representative on off shifts.

    Operations Administrator

    Job description

    Your Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience, supporting Senior Management on organizing and cataloging schedules, filling and following up on action plans, and documenting meeting minutes of departmental open requirements and agreements made.  Must have a VERY strong personality, to chase items on behalf of the COO, and keep actions progressing (must have demonstratable execution skills in tough environments). Strong skills in Spreadsheets (action trackers, financial information), and in supporting professional presentations.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Manage meeting schedules and take meeting minutes, including action items.
    • Fully maintain the Operations action tracker, keeping current, distribute according to defined cadence, and follow up with owners on status.
    • Help support the creation and documentation of SOP’s
    • Support the Operations team with administrative requirements (all OPS departments)
    • Help support presentations, customer and supplier visits, and factory tours
    • Follow up on procurement requests.
    • Work with finance on financial reports, related to variance analysis, costing reviews (working with Engineering Management)

    Assistant Manager Planning & Supply Chain Management

    Job description

    • Determine the required materials and management processes for new and existing products using Microsoft NAV ERP and generating purchase orders.
    • Develop and maintain all MRP and downstream processes related to MRP in Microsoft NAV
    • Ensure all output data from MRP is accurate and undertake analysis for any deviations and errors.
    • Negotiate terms, production lead times, follow up for payment (as per terms) for international material suppliers.
    • Manage inventory levels based on customer demand, agreed min-max stock levels and financial requirements.
    • Track production volumes, and monitor customer demand patterns and purchasing trends. Undertake risk assessment and mitigation activities on material availability.
    • Develop, prepare and share planning reports and trends as required
    • Ensure proper records keeping of all related documents including Duty Remission, inbound items, clearing documentation.
    • Coordinate with departments for clear specifications for accurate supply chain processes.
    • Supply and demand planning and spend analysis and communicate of action plans.
    • Manage all inbound logistics for materials, spares, parts and other incoming component.
    • Negotiate and develop contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.
    • Aid in Reconciliation of duty remission scheme materials and lodging of documents with KRA.
    • Create and implement procurement strategies and processes that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within industry whilst driving continuous improvement.

    Requirements-Hiring manager to fill in desired characteristics:

    • Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or equivalent
    • Experience in procurement from Asia especially China and India with knowledge of freight forwarding requirements in Asia and Kenya
    • Hands-on experience with ERP systems – preferably Microsoft NAV
    • Experience in international sourcing and hard supplier negotiations skills
    • Good understanding of import and export processes
    • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
    • Self-Starter and Self-driven
