    Director – Water and Sanitation

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Chief Officer, the Director will be responsible for the following;

    • Developing, Implementing and Evaluating strategic plans, programs and projects in collaboration with other Departments and stakeholders.
    • Preparing professional and quality standards for construction of Water supply and sewerage infrastructure.
    • Overseeing the construction of Water and Sewerage works undertaken directly or by contractors.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must;

    • Be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering or any other relevant field from a recognized university in Kenya
    • Be a holder of a Master’s degree in the relevant field.
    • Be registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer.
    • Have current valid annual Practicing License from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
    • Be a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
    • Have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than ten (10) years in a senior Public Service or the Private sector.
    • Demonstrate a high degree in professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results.

    Hydro Geologist

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

    • Applying knowledge of fundamental geology to develop an understanding of how rock types and structure in an area impact on groundwater occurrence and movement
    • Understanding and interpreting maps, geographical data, historical evidence and models to build up a picture of the groundwater regime and land contamination, often based on incomplete information
    • Using computers to model groundwater flow, chemistry and temperature according to geological formations, surface water flow and man-made influence

    Environment Officer

    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for identification of applicable environmental regulations and risks and to formulate and implement acceptable environmental policies and systems to ensure compliance and conformity to national and county laws and also responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring environmental strategies that promote sustainable development.

    • Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace
    • Ensuring that the directorate is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation
    • Liaising with NEMA on environmental matters
    • Ensuring compliance and enforcement of environmental regulations
    • Coordinating implementation of EIA and EA process in County Projects
    • Inspection and compliance of environmental EIA/EA regulations

    Requirements for appointment

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Climate Change and Climate Systems; Meteorology, Environmental Science/Natural Resources, Environmental Studies and Natural Resource Sciences or related fields from a recognized university
    • At least three (3) years of relevant working experience
    • Member of Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK)
    • EIA expert registered with NEMA
