    Manager – Value Added Tax (VAT)

    Job Description & Summary

    As a VAT Manager, you’ll work as an integral part of a team of problem solvers, helping our clients tackle their complex issues from strategy to execution. You will gain comprehensive experience across a range of VAT services including; VAT consulting services, tax authority interventions and audit defense, VAT function improvement and optimisation through the application of technology solutions and compliance services to PwC’s, major multinational corporations, state organizations and a variety of significant privately-owned companies.

    Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Managing the delivery of VAT tax consulting services to a wide range of clients
    • Building relationships with our clients & proactively identifying opportunities to grow the business
    • Directing and driving the success of multiple engagements  within budgetary and time constraints while providing a high-level of client satisfaction.
    • Ensure that financial targets of self and team are achieved.
    • Keeping up to date with legislation and practical changes which impact  VAT 
    • Independent thinking to innovate solutions and advice aligned to our clients’ VAT needs
    • Bring business knowledge, innovation and insight to create value for clients and the firm.
    • Embrace the digital transformation being undertaken in our business. Being motivated to apply technology solutions to familiarize yourself with these evolutions and to drive these technologies further in our day-to-day business and that of our clients.
    • Coach team members and drive the team to make a difference and deliver results in a responsible, authentic and passionate manner.

    Preferred skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in business related or law from a recognized university
    • Experience in a tax consulting & advisory  environment
    • Good VAT technical and analytical skills
    • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
    • Ability to work flexibly and through virtual networks
    • Excellent relationship management skills, ability to read situations and modify behavior to build quality, diverse relationships.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Flexible approach to challenges.

    Minimum years experience required

    • 5+ years experience in VAT technical consulting and advisory.

    Value Added Tax (VAT) Specialist

    Job Description & Summary

    As a Senior Associate, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve complex business issues. This role requires you to develop specialized tax expertise in Indirect Taxes - VAT and act as a key resource on complex tax technical matters.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Contribute to the development of new methodologies or approaches to address emerging VAT issues for our clients. 
    • Assist clients by identifying issues they may not recognize and recommend solutions tailored to their strategic and commercial objectives whilst considering the regulatory environment.
    • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
    • Manage existing client portfolios and maintain sound client relationships.
    • Leverages on internal and external networks to enhance firm’s connectivity, performance and profitability opportunities.
    • Provide written technical opinions or reports for clients. 
    • Conduct VAT training for clients as and when required. 
    • Keep up to date with changes in VAT legislation in the East Africa region.
    • Keep up to date with local and international business and economic issues.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university
    • Applicants with  tax qualification will have an added advantage
    • 4-5  years of relevant experience in the field of VAT preferably in a tax authority or tax advisory firm 
    • In-depth knowledge of the VAT  legislative framework in  Kenya 
    • In-depth knowledge of the local VAT regulations, policies and practices in Kenya.
    • Excellent analytical skills and commercial expertise are required for you to succeed in this role
    • You must also demonstrate the ability to communicate with impact, have excellent business development and negotiation skills 
    • You must have good leadership skills, be an effective team player, excellent management skills and good project management skills.
