    HTS Counselors

    Position summary

    The HTS Counselor will work under the overall supervision of the health facility in charge/CCC inCharge at the Sub-County level with a dotted line to MGIC/CIHEB Kenya Longitudinal Improvement Specialist. He/She will provide HIV Counselling and testing services in line with the National HTS guidelines to achieve maximum identification and linkage outcomes as informed by program priority indicator areas/targets.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Provide quality clinical services to HIV patients at the HIV clinic and any other department (TB, MCH, and inpatient) including Patient counselling, ART treatment preparation, initiation and follow up.
    2. Undertake comprehensive clinical evaluation of PLHIV for ART eligibility and ongoing care as per national guidelines including requisition for baseline and follow up laboratory tests.
    3. Support clinical management of opportunistic infections.
    4. Offer integrated prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) – screening for HIV exposure in children, ART initiation and follow up during ANC and PNC and appropriate follow up of HIV infected children as per national guidelines
    5. Support integrated TB/HIV services including a) TB active case finding and ICF, TB preventive treatment for PLHIV b) Appropriate and timely initiation of TB and ART treatment and c) TB patient follow up and accurately documentation of treatment outcomes.
    6. Support integration of the following services in routine HIV care – family planning, cervical cancer screening, GBV screening and referral, PEP and PrEP services.
    7. Monitor facility ART cohort growth by ensuring program retention strategies are implemented within fidelity.
    8. Support facility rational use of ART and TB commodities through good dispensing practices, stock monitoring, reporting, placing orders and pharmacovigilance.
    9. As a technical member of facility service delivery team, participate in implementation of QI projects, preparation, review and submission of reports, multi-disciplinary team meetings, ECHO/Zoom meetings and trainings.
    10. Actively participate in other service delivery areas and joint facility activities.

    5. Implement a case management system that supports priority clients.

    8. Support clients identify ART barriers and facilitate them develop adherence plans.
    9. Support linkage of all patients to psychosocial support groups

    Pharmaceutical Technologist II

    Position Summary

    To manage a pharmacy and coordinate all activities of commodities management pertaining to HIV/AIDS drugs for the site

    Requirements for Appointment

    1. Be a holder of Diploma in Pharmacy and Registered with Pharmacy and poison Board.
    2. Minimum 2 years of work experience post registration preferably in a HIV setting.
    3. Knowledge of and experience in commodity Management

    Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Ensure good storage and inventory management practices are adhered to in the facility.
    2. Participate in the multidisciplinary committee to set and periodically evaluate annual department goals.
    3. Develop, review and regularly update the standard operating procedures manual for management, distributions of ARVs and related commodities.
    4. Participate in the health facility medicine and therapeutic committee (MTC) as the secretary of the medicine and therapeutic committee (MTC) or proxy to prepare circulate and file the MTC minutes.
    5. Together with other MTC members, review and regularly update health facility on medicine.
    6. Promote pharma-covigilance activities at the facility, analyze reports and ensure submission to PPB/UMB.
    7. Ensure the web ADT (or recommended pharmacy software) is in use and well maintained (incharge of the pharmacy computer)
    8. Give the ART clinical team updates on the availability and usage of drugs.
    9. Dispense ARVs and O drugs to patients in ART program.
    10. Ensure accurate use of pharmacy registers i.e. DARs,PV Tracking log
    11. Promote good pharmacy practice by providing and adhering to appropriate dispensing environment and practice: offering medication use and adherence counselling as a minimum standard of care to all patients.
    12. Ensure timely submission of monthly commodity reports to the central sites (by 5th of every month) and national mechanisms as applies to the facility
    13. Member of the pharmacy and CCC ream (active members of CQ team).
    14. Oversee pharmacy activities in the facility.
