    Sous Chef

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the planning, organizing and controlling of the day-to-day running of the food production area. To maintain operating and service standard levels, in keeping with Lodge expectations. To promote the food product, through presentation standards and guest contact, in improving the overall food image.
    • Attends regular problem solving and operational meetings with Executive Chef to ensure smooth running of the department, with the aim of maintaining Lodge standards.
    • Takes personal interest in staff welfare to ensure the team remains highly motivated and performs at its best under operational conditions.
    • Daily inspects Kitchen areas to ensure that tidiness, correct storage, stock levels, and the highest degree of hygiene are maintained. Actions any irregularities immediately.
    • Regularly attends all food stock takes and ensures accuracy and correctness.
    • Do not run out of menu items for service.
    • Assist in the ordering, through the Executive Chef and Manager, all food items required to produce the required menus at the standard expected and within the budgetary constraints.
    • Assists in monitoring goods delivered to ensure correct items are received at the agreed quality and price.
    • Liaises closely with Management and Waiters to ensure smooth running of all dining functions.
    • Assists in maximising food profitability by controlling all spillage, spoilage and wastage. This is to be achieved by the use of correct storage and production of raw materials.
    • Monitors portion control and maximize profitability, but never compromises on the guest value for money.
    • Assists the Executive Chef in the on-going training program to improve the overall skills of the team and, hence, improve productivity and standards.
    • Maintains the highest degree of personal appearance and hygiene at all times, and instils on this pride in the team.
    • Is aware of all fire, safety and emergency procedures.

    • Must have a pragmatic and agnostic approach to coding, with no specific preference for any language/framework, and understanding when to (and when not to) apply certain design patterns and refactoring, based on many years of experience with several large projects

    Export Administrator

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • The Export Admin will keep track of Proforma invoices, Final Invoices and prepare relevant approval documents and reports to expedite the billing and exports process.
    • The Exports Admin will also ensure that shipments are in compliance with the statutory requirements, applicable laws and regulations governing the FMCG segment and the beverage industry in both Kenya and the importing country’s regulations.
    • Compiling and Filling documents
    • Coordination with clearing agents
    • Verification of import documents/charges.
    • Handling clearance of Export cargo-COMESA,EAC
    • Follow up of shipments before and after arrival at the ports.
    • Handling all export documentation and tracking consignments

    Qualifications/ Requirements/Key Skills

    • Degree in Marketing, (International) Business, Finance or any other related field
    • Practical experience in a similar position- within an FMCG environment.
    • 5 years plus relevant experience working as an Export Admin in an FMCG environment
    • Knowledge of budget management, international trade and taxations
    • Experience using computers and Android handsets for a variety of tasks.

    Agronomist

    Responsibilities

    • Training all Company staff in technical areas regarding our products; and giving them all the necessary advice regarding new and old products. Plan overview is as follows;
    • Structured training proposals including logical products to be covered (area based), timescales coinciding with seasons etc.
    • Training register to be maintained to keep track of all trainings and topics, including staff in attendance.
    • Accompanying sales staff on field sales trips to train and sensitize stockiest on our products and develop relationship with our customers based on agronomy service provision.
    • Standard stockiest interaction protocol to be established covering; technical presentations of our portfolio, promotional material, continuous advice and follow up
    • Field visit register to be maintained detailing past visits and stockiest information/contacts
    • Product development through field demonstrations via coordination with relevant area govt. field extension officers/ area lead farmers (Small scale). Plan overview is as follows;
    • Area identification, farmer group identification, extension officer identification.
    • Best crop identification (per the area)
    • Best farmer identification for longer term demo partnership. This individual should be the most competent/accomplished farmer in the group who will spread the word of Equatoria Africa Limited as we will be continuously supporting him.
    • Demo implementation, farmer fun and entertainment days/ lucky dips/ training seminars etc.
    • Demo conclusion including produce analysis and distribution plan.
    • Compiling database to keep track of all demos and progress statuses
    • Budgeting for above activities
    • Identification of estates and farmer organizations in the country to develop business with them. Plan overview is as follows;
    • Introduction meetings
    • Planned timetable for product familiarity and proof of technical competence (Estate demos) to show the Estates that we are seriously committed to developing long standing relations
    • Structured advice proposals via our understanding of crop problems, pest problems, seasons and product success (as proved in other areas/demos) via formal meetings or written correspondences (Bulletins)
    • Compiling database to keep track of all estates and relationship statuses/ progress/ Demos executed
    • Budgeting for above activities

    KEY RESULTS AREAS (KRA)

    • Improved sales of our products to estates and farmer organizations/ groups/ retail business via shop counters (Achievement of monthly targets)
    • Improved sales of our new products to stockiest/ wholesalers (Achievement of monthly targets)
    • A better understanding of technical aspects of our products by managers and other staff to better handle and advice customers on our products. This will be assessed via live feedback.
    • Innovative ideas for new product identification and development
    • Individual initiative on planning, budgeting and reporting(submission efficiency)

    Qualifications

    • Any Degree in an Agricultural related field
    • 2 years’ work experience in agronomy and agro sales and marketing
    • Spoken and written English skills, fluent in Kiswahili
    • MS office (email, excel, word, power point) intermediate knowledge for preparing reports and presentations
    • Ability to perform under pressure
    • Ability to travel on field
    • Adaptable attitude
