Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Previous exposure in the financial industry. (But not essential)

Experience:
• 2+ years of experience designing, developing and testing software services
• 2+ years of experience with Ruby, Python, Java or Scala
• Experience with Linux or MacOS
• Experience with Linux or MacOS is highly desirable
• Experience integrating real-time machine learning/AI/decision optimization in a big-data (HDFS+Map-Reduce) environment is desirable
• Experience working in Amazon Web Service environments (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk) is desirable

Essential

• Hands on experience with the design and development of high volume, highly reliable services
• Ability to travel for meetings and training to countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia and Ghana
• 10+ years of experience designing, developing and testing software services
• 7+ years of experience with Ruby, Python, Java or Scala
• 5+ years of experience with Linux or MacOS
• 5+ years of experience using Agile development methodologies
• Strong track record of personal leadership and initiative
• Excellent communications skills
• Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and designs

Desirable:

• Understanding of basic financial and accounting concepts
• Experience integrating real-time machine learning/AI/decision optimization in a big-data (HDFS+Map-Reduce) environment is highly desirable

Key responsibilities  

• You’ll be responsible for delivery of the various microservices that make up the Jumo platform as well as the products served over the platform itself.
• Through analysis with internal and external stakeholders, provide business requirements documentation, then work with agile delivery teams in delivering the required solution.
• Produce Product Specifications utlising research from partner channels, data science and customer intelligence teams.
• Produce Epic and Feature stories for developers, and then carry out UAT and provide operational documentation on delivery
• When required, travel with project team into various countries to integrate Jumo with partners.

Essential

• Undergraduate degree Minimum 3 years as a product owner or business analyst responsible for delivering new solutions. Minimum 7+ yrs work experience in a related field.
• Strong Office/Excel SQL Strong focus on project/task ownership and quality completion
• Excellent communication: written, verbal, visual Versatile. Logical thinker wrt problem definition and solution design

Desirable:

• Business analysis / product owner / project management Diploma or Certificates.
• Tech qualifications (development, hardware etc.)
• Has built financial products or solutions from inception. Modelling and UX tools, any programming languages

Key Responsibilities

• First line of support for operational issues
• Monitoring of computational, storage and network storage devices inside Jumo’s AWS production environment. Respond to alarms by either resolving the issue or escalating within Jumo
• Management of internal-to-Jumo communications during system incidents.
• Monitoring of remote resources (e.g. MNO owned VPN endpoints) for failure. Escalate to MNO via MNO technical resources. Communicate internally to Jumo
• Coordination and communication of release or other operationally impacting activities
• Operation of systems (for example, pausing queues during partner maintenance)
• To the extent possible, execution of current daily on-call tasks
• In conjunction with software engineering teams develop and maintain runbooks for operational systems
• Uptime reporting for internal and third party systems
• In conjunction with DevOps team, addition of alarms and monitoring
• Management of capacity and expenses resulting from capacity consumption

Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline
