    Subject Officer

    Requirements for the Subject Officer Job

    • Bachelors Degree in Education specializing in Biology;
    • Masters degree in Education in the relevant area from a recognized institution;
    • Not less than ten (10) years of teaching experience in Secondary or Post
    • Secondary Institution teaching Biology as a major subject or related assignment;
    • Must have undergone SMASSE training;
    • Must have evidence of knowledge and proficiency in Computer Applications;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.

    Principal Examinations Administrator

    Requirements for the Principal Examinations Administrator Job

    • Masters Degree in Education in a relevant field from a recognized institution;
    • Served in the grade of Senior Examinations Administrator for three (3) years or in an equivalent and relevant position OR have a cumulative working experience of at least fifteen (15) years in a related field. Those below Job group ‘N’ in Government or TSC or its equivalent need not apply;
    • Must have evidence of knowledge and proficiency in Computer Applications;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity;
    • Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage;

    Responsibilities for the Principal Examinations Administrator Job

    • Estimate and present logistical requirements of examinations administration;
    • Track and record progress in performance of tasks;
    • Receive and process coursework assessment and project marks and prepare relevant circulars for data capture instructions;
    • Process exemptions courses and handling of referral cases;
    • Undertake receipt and storage of marked scripts;
    • Process examinations results;
    • Arrange for supervision and invigilation of examinations;
    • Facilitate briefing and post mortem meetings with field officers, centre organizers, external assessors and chief examiners;
    • Organize marking centres;
    • Facilitate appraisal, training, development and discipline of examiners;
    • Facilitate payments for contracted professionals.

    Principal ICT Officer

    The Officer will report to the Deputy Director, Information Communication Technology.

    Requirements for the Principal ICT Officer Job

    • Masters Degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline from a recognized Institution;
      Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Communications Technology,Electronics Engineering or any other ICT related disciplines with a bias in Computer Science from a recognized institution;
    • Served in the grade of Chief ICT Officer for three (3) years or in an equivalent and relevant position OR have a cumulative working experience of at least fifteen (15) years in a related field. Those below Job group ‘N’ in Government or TSC or its equivalent need not apply;
    • A Cisco Certified Network Analysts certificate;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity;
    • Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage;

    Responsibilities for the Principal ICT Officer Job

    • Oversee the operation of IT services to maintain the protection of enterprise information and reliability of service delivery;
    • Undertake systematic monitoring and scanning of the enterprise’s external environment to identify emerging technologies that have the potential to create value;
    • Assess availability, performance and capacity of services and resources to ensure cost-justifiable capacity and performance are available to support business needs and to deliver against agreed Service Level Agreements;
    • Work with the business to determine future network requirements and produce network designs to meet the network availability, performance and security of the business;
    • Proactively identify business risks and opportunities to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness;
      Perform network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting and escalating issues, including proactive problem resolution and complex problem analysis as necessary, to maintain network performance to meet user demand;
    • Reduce operational risk and improve availability of the network by ensuring network access, monitoring, control, evaluation and documentation practices are maintained and adhered to;
    • Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages;
    • Evaluate new network hardware and software solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology;
    • Collect and analyse operational data (especially incident and change records) to identify emerging trends and log problem records to assist with problem resolution and increased network availability;
    • Provide technical administration and leadership to customers on products, systems and configuration;
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support;
    • Monitor, analyse and report on systems performance;
    • Contribute to building capability within the ICT technical stream ensuring effective knowledge sharing and coaching;

    Exams Administration Director

    The Director, Examinations Administration will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and will provide strategic leadership in the administration of public academic, technical and other national examinations within Kenya at basic and tertiary levels. The officer will head both Field Administration Services and Examinations Management Services.

    Responsibilities for the  Exams Administration Director Job

    • Registration of candidates for both school and post school examinations.
    • Identification, inspection and approval of examination, distribution and marking centers
    • Coordination of the conduct of school and post school examinations.
    • Manage and co-ordinate centering, dispatch and return of examination materials.
    • Training and recruitment of examiners
    • Coordination of marking of candidates’ scripts.
    • Coordinate assessment of practical, orals, projects and teaching practice.
    • Processing of candidate’s examination marks and production of results.
    • Issuance of academic certificates and diplomas to successful candidates
    • Adopt best practices in examinations administration; formulate and implement initiatives to instill KNEC values in the department; prepare and execute medium term and annual budgets for the department;
    • Devise and implement effective risk management strategies in the department in order to implement measures to enhance the credibility of examinations and mitigate risks;

    Requirements for the Exams Administration Director Job

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

    • Masters Degree in Education in a relevant field from a recognized institution;
    • Have served as Deputy Director, Examinations Administrator for a minimum period of three (3) years OR have 18 years relevant experience, three (3) of which should have been at managerial level handling examination activities in a reputable institution. Those below Job group ‘Q’ in Government or TSC or its equivalent need not apply;
    • Must have evidence of being well grounded in the theory and practice of educational measurement and evaluation as well as curriculum design;
    • Must have evidence of proficiency and knowledge in computer applications;
    • Candidates who have attended Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks will have an added advantage;
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
    • PhD will be an added advantage;

    Skills and Competencies

    • Strong analytical and report writing skills;
    • Knowledge of Government Performance Contracting Process and Quality Management;
    • Strong leadership skills;
    • Ability to drive positive change and innovation;
    • Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills;

    The Council will offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with seniority and responsibilities of the position.
